Six years ago, Hope came into the world as thousands watched. It was also the birth of Lily Fans. When Hope?s birth was announced on NBC Today, Lily and Hope became the top search topic in the world on Yahoo?number 4 on Google. Amazing. Her birth spurred the biggest bear education opportunity I know of. People in over a 100 countries watched and learned from the bears themselves.

Most of the pictures here are familiar to Lily Fans. Two of them might not have been seen before?Hope in front of the den where Lily gave birth to Faith and Jason, and Hope with a funny look on her face as she watched Jim Stroner snap her picture. So many good memories. So many friendships formed.

Her name, voted by Lily Fans, signifies:

Hope?for bear populations everywhere
Opportunity?to learn what bears are really like
Progress?toward correcting misconceptions and changing attitudes
Education?about bear life

That?s what Lily Fans stand for. That?s what we?re all about. What she helped start continues. Her memory lives on in our hearts, in what we do, in the Hope Learning Center, and exhibits at the North American Bear Center.

Good Morning jewelies! I was awake at 3am and watching the world news. it was showing all the ice and snow..wow really bad. talking about flooding for some on the east coast. full moon higher tide tonight i think. showed all the stranded people in kentucky. talked to an alice she and her kids 14 and 4 and her diabetic dad been stuck for 17 hours. no more food and she said police say they are coming but no one has. so that newslady put on the weather man and he explained to her all the ice and tons of snow and really hard for them to get there.they are far from home too live in ohio.. if someone told me this thing was coming my butt would be home not traveling and if i was caught from home a hotel or relatives friends esp. if my dad was a diabetic. not so easy for the police to just come and get you. two died in nc traffic accidents..just watching all this. so i got up later too lost track of time. bear update sad to me hope gone.

Hi JP! Great pic of donna! i love the eyes on the bears. so much expression. like a dog's eyes. I saw all the rain and winds for florida too but it is better i reckon than that ice and all that snow..dc will be over 2 feet. said thousands and thousands no power. stranded on the highway like that. i guess you would get out of the car and try to find a spot to use the bathroom..they said saving on their gas just turning on the car a little every hour. still. i saw on the world news that the NFL game will be played. carolina panthers said that. showed them out for practice in the snow. some in short sleeves..those men tough and crazy..let's play ball..fans show up they too are tough and crazy.

Hi Eaglette! When i saw that eagle i went oh wow how cool!! That is beautiful!! I will go check out your link in a little bit. after all the chores. have to go to walmart get my toe medicine. last refill on it. news said like 34,000 flights cancelled. what a mess for people.

Hi Rues! At least you found the dog!! cool your sister saw star wars and thinks what i do too on the rewrite. rues you and mr crow should go see it. not now. wow your house shook when the plow went by..see here our house way back from the road but sometimes i can hear ours or the dogs can and i go look so to live close to the road it would shake a house.but very good our plows are coming!! missy said in town the clean off the main highway thru it but side roads are a mess for awhile. i have to go by her work place today too. her thermostat went sick at her rental house that is right behind her house. them people said someone looked at it and told them they need a new furnace. jim said no just a thermostat for now..this part goes bad and causes it act up like it was. the person who told that lady and her daughter they needed a new was the daughters dad. it is old buy missy relieved cause she doesn't have the money for one. her ac in her house is almost 30 years old jim told her last year you will need to replace it this summer can't baby it anymore. she really needs to save up some money. anyway i just charged her for the cost of the thermostat. no service call or labor..she is my friend. she helps me out with the kids medicine alot.

My dermo lady betty called yesterday to confirm my appt for monday at 10 am and i said i can't make it so she said do you want to reschedule or call back later ...call back later... i am going to stop at that bargain shop in excelsior today he has those new 5.00 dvd movies. going to get Norm from the North. me and sister wanted to see it.

I think drama came in the living room so i got to sneak past him into the kitchen lock the gate and let corey dog out to pee and poop. he has bee peeing outside pooping in my room..hi to all you guys!! like JP hope all is safe and warm..

Hi Jewelies!  Brrr... I ended up getting 2-3" of snow I think.  Power stayed on, luckily.  Haven't heard from my daughter yet, hope they get their Uverse back on soon.  I heard on the news that their town got 4" of snow, but the next town over from them got 14", so who knows!  I bet it's more than 4".

cal... LOL on the dog shame!  Oh, yuck, hot dog poop!  Or... was it hotdog poop?   lol  Handsome is out playing in the snow, he's just a kid still.     He'll be scratching on the back door in a short time, I bet.  The girls are supposed to come tonight, but not sure if the roads will let them.  Sad update today...

Hi to everyone!  Stay warm today.

We got 15 inches of snow!  And even deeper in the drifts! Thankfully it is the light fluffy stuff so shoveling isn't to bad. Our roads are passable but they are asking everyone to stay home off the roads. Interstate 77 at Charleston has a 2 mile back up of tractor trailers. I haven't heard if that's been cleared now or not. My neighbor across the street, the one that has all the gadgets and tools known to mankind, has been out with his snow blower and his riding mower with the blade on the front clearing the neighborhood sidewalks. He's  a really good neighbor. Now I'm ready for some sunshine and melting snow.

Ra, the weather guy here was saying that there could be feet of snow in one area and drive 5 miles and find only a few inches. He said that happens because of the way the bands of snow are coming. It's all supposed to be out of here this afternoon. Right now it's snowing teenie tiny flakes. Looks like dandruff on my coat and hat! Glad your power stayed on! I haven't heard of any power outages around here. Funny how Handsome likes the snow! Stella won't go out on the back porch with the little bit of blown in snow that's out there! Robin said the snow is to deep for the feral cats in her neighborhood to be out. She's hoping they are tucked in somewhere safe and warm.

Cal, really nice pics in the update but otherwise sad.  The weather people have been warning all of us for over a week that this monster storm was coming. Sad that someone is stuck somewhere but like you said I wouldn't leave my house either to travel if I knew an epic storm was coming! Maybe this woman had no choice but to travel when she did. Hope she has been rescued by now and all is ok. Funny dog shame! I wouldn't think so if one of my dogs did that though! I hurried and got my shoveling done before Hyacinth came on this morning! She was excited about rehearsing songs with Emmet at the church and Emmet was not thrilled about it at all. Rose dressed in a black mini skirt wanted to be a nun and Richard was worrying about early retirement! I still can't remember what was on last week!

Wow, rues!  You got a LOT of snow!!     The sun is out here!!  Yay!  Snow is slowly melting, because it's still not even 40^o.  So glad your power stayed on.  I was watching CNN and the weather channel and it looks like NYC is really getting hit, too.  Closing the streets, nobody is allowed to drive after 2:30 or they will be arrested!  All the big cities look like they've really been hit.  Feel sorry for the people on the beaches that have their places getting flooded at high tide.  Sounds like your neighbor is a real help to your neighborhood.  Stay warm and safe, rues!

Hi Rues!! laughing at all the snow you got and that mad smiley face!! lol sorry lol sorry..i know your keeping up!! it's the good rose too!! mine was richard had just retired so i must be a show or two ahead of you. i will try to think what show i saw a few weeks ago maybe it was yours don't get your hopes up cause i really doubt i will remember it. your neighbor is a very good one!! pretty nice cleaning off sidewalks. course sounds like he loves his gadgets and stuff and happy to get out and do that.  i went to the bargain spot he did not have norm of the north yet said looking for it but i did get hotel transylania two..missy got it too last week so me and sister can watch it.

Hi Ra! have you heard from your daughter today? NY worried about the tide tonight i forgot to tell you yesterday morning at like 5 am i saw the five planet all lined up!! it was cloudy but not where them planets were and i got to see it!! this morning it was too cloudy.

Hi cal!  Awww... You got to see the planets!!  Cool!  How long are they going to be lined up?  Today was nice and sunny and snow got to melt a little.  Tomorrow, warmer, so maybe the snow will all be gone then.  No, I haven't heard from my daughter yet today.  Her inlaws went up to see them today and called me to let me know they're all ok.  The main roads are pretty good, but their road is still snow covered and slick.  Glad I got the call.

Jewelies, the moon is huge and ORANGE--how beautiful!  The bear pics. are wonderful. So thankful that Jewel is still with us. Wow, rues, I did NOT pass that snow on to you! We don't have very much (and don't want anymore), so we didn't have it to pass on to anybody. My eastern daughter is ok, so far--I think most is north of her. Ra, freezing rain is the worst. I'm always afraid I'll fall down and break something. So glad you are feeling better and still have power. Eaglette, that quilt must have taken hours and hours to make! Jp, hope you are keeping warm enough for comfort. Do you wear shorts in the winter, too? Hi, Dlong, nora, bischue, neva, deb, pat!!!!  I'm getting ready to read John Grisham's book The Rogue Lawyer.
