Rues, yes, I liked her on Blue Bloods--much better than Danny's partner now. In this week's NCIS, I loved the closing scene where they were  listening to the Spanish dance music. In real life, the new agent (his real name is Wilmer ???, and he was on That 70's Show) has a fantastic music ability. He had a brief role on Gray's Anatomy and played Spanish guitar. He played a patient who was a musician and had a hand tremor  We had a little rain today, but boy, the weather has been outstanding. Hi, all you Jewelies!

Valentine.  Her mother is RC

We have a Thursday to do with what we can.  I plan on enjoying it by working on my music project, being thankful that the teeth cleaning is over (I hate that, the hygienist is so rough), and wishing each and everyone of you a most pleasant day in all respects.

Desk Day - UPDATE September 28, 2016

Kimani's cub

At the WRI, a brown phase young male we are calling Brownie for now was showing affection toward 2-year-old Sadie (daughter of Summer, and a great-great-great-granddaughter of Shadow) now kind of out of season. A few days ago he was making thrusting movements toward her. Today, he half mounted her and was gently mouthing her neck as bears do during mating. What does it mean? Our best guess from known situations is that mated pairs can remain friendly and share food nose to nose for months after mating. We'll be watching to see if Sadie has any brown cubs if she can have them this winter as a 3-year-old.

Northern flying squirrel

Out the window, two members of the clean-up team had a brief skirmish. A crow was cawing on a branch when a red squirrel rushed out onto the branch. This made the cautious crow jump up while the squirrel took partial cover under the branch after its show of bravery. The squirrel retreated and the crow landed, only to take off almost immediately. It was a little excitement to enliven a day at the desk with the camera handy and the outdoor microphone alerting me to action.

Blue jays loved the walnuts and were good to leave some in case any bears came. Kimani and her two cubs did come after dark, as did a flying squirrel. The northern flying squirrel was good to stand up and show the flap of skin that extends from the wrist to the ankle. When they glide, they stretch out their arms and legs to pull the skin tight. Notice how big its eyes are for night vision. With red squirrels, we get to know some of them and they can become tame enough to sit on your hand, but we are often surprised how close we can be to flying squirrels that we have never seen before.

All seems well but really no news about our 4 bears today.

Thank you for all you do.

Daily Updates
Ted, Tasha and WRI Visitors - UPDATE September 29, 2016
29 September 2016

On Ted's last couple days out he has been eating grasses on the mound. Today, after he went to the door of his pen and wanted in, Ted
Ted
Tasha was up on the mound sniffing where Ted sat and ate grass like the big guy. She even passed up grapes for grass.

At the Wildlife Research Institute, Brownie found Sadie there again, and they shared food from her bowl and nuzzled each other affectionately. They left separately, though. Not many bears are coming, so the clean-up crew is having a heyday. A gray fox joined in this afternoon.

Blue jays are still coming. Some people might not like their calls at dawn, but these widespread birds have to be one of the most beautiful.

Oh, happy day! Cal is back! Yay! You were missed! Thank you for taking us on another ride! So much fun. Probably the only way I'll ever ride on a 4 wheeler! Lol! Do you ever meet up with another vehicle on that road? So nice that you got to visit with cousin Janice! She sends you the best stuff including the one today! That will be nice when she comes to visit you. I'm so happy to see you posting again! :)

Jp, where did September go? Time is passing by so quickly. Nice pic of Bill. Have we seen him before?

Obsver, we got over an inch of rain! This rain didn't come from the west, like normal,  but from the southeast! I don't care where it came from, just glad it came! Lol!

It took me 4:38 to help that dog remove the sign.
