"Especially when they play and do the sideways jump on their tippy toes!"  Most definitely RA!

JP it's summer, who has pep when it's hot?  I sure don't.  Relax and have a good day.  Donna looks content.

Oh Cal, 100 and 110!  Take care.  You're posting, hope that means your power is back.

That was cute of Lucky and Holly in the white pines.

It was wonderfully cool here overnight, but now back up to 74 and on it's way up.  A lot cooler than some of you, but I want fall!!  At least the humidity is down today.

Looks like a fun puzzle Cal, will do it over lunch.

Hi RA and all..........

Cal, good grief, I hope your power stayed on! That's pretty scary not having power in the heat wave! I was just down at Robin's and I had to leave because her house is stifling. Her ac part came in but the guy is too busy now to come install it. Says he'll come Friday. Robin is livid! She just has to spend all her home time in her bedroom with the window ac. She was off yesterday because it was a state holiday, West Virginia Day, so she came to our house and relaxed in the pool. Crow and I went to the Cleveland Clinic to see a dermatologist specialist. His hands and feet cracking and peeling have just about got him down. After no help from 2 podiatrists, a dermatologist and our family doctor he decided to go out of town and see if he could find some help. We saw a very nice doctor who has scheduled allergy tests and skin biopsies. The one dermo doc here never suggested any of those tests. All he wanted to do was prescribe meds that cost almost $2000 a month. The Cleveland Doctor wondered why the doc here would give meds before knowing exactly what the problem was. The Clinic called today and Crow is scheduled for testing the week of Aug 22. Hope we get some answers. Hope everything is ok now at your house and everyone is cool. Did you hear what caused the power outage?

Jp, I am so happy that Patrick spent Father's Day with you! Bet you were, too!

Ra, we cooked out on the grill for Father's Day. Well, I cooked out. Robin and Crow stayed indoors! Crow had a steak and Robin and I each had a hot dog! Made some pasta salad and strawberry shortcake for dessert. We had corn on the cob, too. We got the last 5 ears from the farm stand! It was really good! The propane tank ran out of gas half way thru and Crow had to come out and change the tank! I don't mess with those propane tanks. They scare me. My plants are looking bad now, too. It is so hot and dry out. Keep saying rain but it keeps going around us! All those foods you are eating sound good but maybe not as much as the ones you aren't eating, though! Lol!

Obsver, my Robin is coming out your way this weekend! First to Chicago and then near Indianapolis. Phish concerts, of course.

Hi to everyone!  :)

We had a storm last night, and the town 7 mi. from me got 3 inches of rain, flooded some streets. We are supposed to get possible severe storms tomorrow afternoon & evening. Rues, Robin will be 3 hrs. north of me and then 3 hrs. south of me. Hope she has a good time!!  Going to Cleveland sounds like a wise decision. Maybe they find the solution to crow's problem.  Cal, being without power is bad enough when you don't have animals but???oh, what a worry!  Many years ago, when we had cattle, the power went off on a HOT  July day. We didn't know how in the heck we were gong to get water to them--pump wouldn't work. Thankfully, the power came on after 3 hours. Cows drink a lot of water. Wouldn't you know the power would go off when Jim is away. When does he come back? We're all sending you hugs!!   Ra, hugs to you, too, while you diet. No fun. Getting out and walking would really help you, but I don't know how that would fit in time wise with your work schedule. If you guys want to see something entertaining, google James Corden Carpool Kareoke and watch the one that was shown at the Tony Awards--it's a song from the broadway show Le Miz.  The singers are having fun.  Hi, neva! So good to see you!!!!!  Cal, neva has a good idea--have you talked to Jim about what to do?  Hope the power stays on!!!!!

hi you guys! it is 103 here. tomorrow said 111 and of course the humidity. i have been in the barn hosing them down cleaning up poop. filled the water tank then i stuck my head in it. stood by just the corner of the girls big fan dont want to take from them. my power is still on but worried you know.

hi neva! i saw i got a message from jim i have not called him back he said he was getting ready to go to some late meetings. i would not tell him because he would worry. i was wondering if ron knew how to do that generator. he has so much of his own stuff to do. i will try to learn how to do that generator maybe me and sister could move it out of the garage and she always comes on tuesday night..just an awful day today. awful tomorrow but at least got the power on.

hi rues! poor robin like getting her car fixed. mr crows skin sounds like my skin on that toe. went thru all these doctors and all that medicine and test. i cancelled my appt way back that betty said to call back and set up another one. i never did and they never called me back. just took my money for a year. i am guessing that big storm last night cause the outaged. bad when whole towns are out. when i went to mcdonald real early down my one road i saw old man grove had power. he must have a generator. he has lots of cows and land. i saw on tv a back up generator runs on propane and when the power goes out it kicks on. you dont have to do anything. probably cost a million dollars but sure would like that. hate to leave the fate of my horses dogs cats me to farmers electric.

hi obsver! jim comes back friday afternoon. i was feeling a little sick out there came in went in my room sat down on my ottoman next to my bed and laid my head on pillow on my bed and turned on the tv. was afraid to turn it on watched the news. talked about a 20% chance of thunderstorms thursday and i got afraid. afraid of storms now. looks like next week be a little cooler but they said that last week and look how hot it is. at least i still had water in the barn do t elec to pull the handle up.

neva the news talking about terrible wildfires one in new mexico are you near it? i hope not and fire in la ca and i turned off the news and came in the kitchen here. breaks my heart all the animals in that. still have not turned my computer back on or the tv in the living room. better go have to feed my mom cats and turn on their tv and take these cookies i buy for sister and leave them in her bathroom. she will eat on them and read her book tonight. i told her to use her key and go in the door down there. i hope to be laying down tonight. i hope.

Hi Everyone!

Cal ... I'm not near the New Mexico fire, or the Arizona one, up north either.  It is blazing hot out here ... 114 degrees on our back porch a couple of afternoons ago.  Yeah, I know ---  "It's a dry heat"  ...  (like an oven) intense

I feel bad about the situation you are in with the power going off.  I am keeping you and the furry and feathered kids in my prayers.

D ...  I was so glad to hear that you now have a car with A/C.  What great kids you have.    :)

I am here most days, reading.

Here she is - Jewel.  Micah, Nate and Scott

Strange this morning.  I went to sign in and I got a message saying I could not sign in right now, try again later,  So, about 40 minutes later I was able to sign in.  Anyhow, everything seems to be working well, now, except me.  Strange feeling in my legs and it is hard to walk.  It is a whole new world that I find as I get older.  I don't know anyone in my age range to compare notes with.

cal, I  am so sorry about your heat and the power ouk situation.  I wish I could start your generator for you.

Wishes for all of you to have a Wednesday to your liking.

I?m back but not up to speed yet. Catching up. Very glad for the super updates the staff wrote while I was gone. That might be the start of something good.Moose in pond

Alaska was beautiful. The weather was unusually good, they said, but Donna and I were inside for most of it. My talks were well received with good attendance. It was good to see old friends. After the conference, Donna and I spent some good nature time together.

An exciting time was at Potter Marsh near Anchorage. Suddenly, all the ducks took off. An eagle from a nearby nest focused on a single duck, powered past us in pursuit (photo) and made a sharp turn by some trees (photo) where the duck dodged and escaped. The eagle perched to pant, and tree swallows resumed their usual ways.

At a marina in Seward, sea otters foraged and played with no fear of people or a dog that was fascinated by them.

We saw a lot on a 7 ? hour cruise. Black-legged kittiwakes flocked around a hump-backed whale that surfaced (photo). A seabird colony held many nesting puffins, common murres, and other seabirds.

We saw some of those birds close-up at the Alaska Sealife Center in Seward.

I wanted Donna to see it all after having taken the same cruise in 1996 with Hermann Sϋlberg of German Geo magazine http://www.geo.de. I still don?t know what Hermann?s article said. Titled ?Der alte Mann und der B?r? (pages 84-98 in the May 1997 issue), it has a picture of me having him smell a brown bear scat in Katmai National Park.

Donna and I had a great time. We saw a lot of wildlife, and it was nice to be able to spend time relaxing and seeing so much together. It?s also good to be back home finding good things happening behind the scenes. More about that as they move toward fruition.

Looking forward to the LilyPad Picnic (www.lilypadpicnic.com) coming up in a month (July 22-24).

Thank you for all you do.

Good Morning Jewelies! It is 80 here. So good to have dr. rogers back. i was like and what did you bring us and he brought back these pictures and what pictures! Just something else! And that duck made it away from that charging eagle! Loved that. What wildlife parks and stuff there. Truly beautiful. Dr. rogers sounds like you jp when he said he is not up to speed yet! :D He is 77.

Hi JP! Love that jewel picuture! They are saying on my news today will be the hottest day of the year. excessive heat warnings out from 11 am to 9 pm. girls already in front of the fans. They are talking about rain friday i said well jim will be back friday and he will get that generator going if any trouble with the power! He should try to start it when he gets home. make sure it will start.  My eyes are so dried out. i think from the heat and all that hay dust flying around in the barn. my right eye having alot of those floaters again and it seems to be somewhat cloudy at times. Royals lost to the mets last night. we are like the worst team for on the road games. Did your marlins win? aren't they playing the braves? i sure do hope i dont lost my power today jp. I was out in the barn feeding the kittens and they were in that hallway. and the light flicker and my heart was stopping and i looked up and moths circling that light!

Hi Neva! That dry heat is an oven. my mom and sister in vegas and my aunt and uncles. it was like 119 once and i could not even open moms car door without a towel and was gripping how hot it was and aunt ruth but a dry heat..say what still hot. but here is bad when 100 and over and that humidity. i am soaking wet when i come back in. Sister called me at almost 7 last night and she said she was still on the clock. she had to work till 8:30 short handed someone quit. she needs to get her oil change so she did not come up last night. she went to eat her double crunch shrimp at applebees and watched the royals game there. get her oil changed this morning and then maybe come up. did not know how long it would take and she goes back tomorrow anyway. so she will call me later one. but she told them at the nursing home she was heading up here last night. she does not want them calling and bugging her too work the next two days and they would. she has to work late now every night till they hire someone. i hope to see her later but told it is going to be so hot today. maybe just go back home and stay in where it is cool. happy you are not near them fires neva. hi maddie rose! i pray too to not lose the power today. this is going to be a day of hosing down and getting back in here resting and hosing down.
