Hi Jewelies! I still had to go back a page to get to the reply thingy! Oh, well, at least I get to reply! It is still cold here with wind. Supposed to be 65 today but so far not out of the 50's. The fence guys came this morning and are working like little beavers! Hope they can get finished today. Boo is barking his fool head off!

Neva, I'm so happy to see your post! Please come back often. I enjoy your post and I don't find you boring at all! I'd be sitting with you and Cal at a party! After having this iPad I know for sure my next laptop will be a touch screen! My laptop is a Windows 7 and it's getting old. My older sister and her hubby are coming out your way in June. I went with her today to AAA to get info for their trip. They lived in Phoenix and Walker for 25 years. They want to visit some friends in Prescott, too. I get to check on her house and feed her kitty while they are gone! Hope you get your pics transferred! Come back soon!

Blschue, awesome moose pics! Hope your cousin is ok and have a safe trip home!

Cal, I sure hope Aster is ok. Wish she would come around so we could see her. What are you and Polly up to today? That was a good price you got for the flea meds. Our vet recommends that new 8 month flea collar so Molly and Boo are wearing theirs. It's been years since I bought a flea collar. Hope this thing works.  How cool you got to see the baby horses!

Obsver, Crow got the new Randy Wayne White book, Deep Blue, yesterday at the library!

Nora, hope everything goes well today for Joe!

Deb, congrats with new baby!

Jp, time does fly by! Wish it would slow down a bit. Cool that the Clydesdales were there!

Hi Willi!

Hi Neva, we couldn't forget you!  Actually I was really lax there for a while.

Blschue glad your cousin didn't break anything!

Rues and all, the pre-op visit went well for Joe today, so next Thursday it "the" day.  It HAS to go better than last time  :D

Neva, forgot to thank you for the bear and hammock video! I had never seen that one! They are so cute!

Cal, you were busy today going here and there! That's so thoughtful of you to bake for Jordan's grieving parents. We ate at Sonic last week. I got one of their creamery milk shakes...wild berry, strawberry and lavender! It was ok but I'll never order it again! I always think of you when I drive past or eat at Sonic! Lol! It took the fence guys 11 hours to build the fence. They did an excellent job. One of the guys grandpa is Amish. Crow didn't ask any questions so I don't why the guy isn't Amish, too. Told me not to paint or stain the fence for at least a year! I don't know if I can wait that long. It is pouring down the rain! We may have snow flurries by the end of the week! This crazy weather. I got a bunch puzzles to go back and work! Just did today's with the cat and cake! That has happened to me before! I try not to eat to much dinner so I can have room for dessert! Better yet, eat cake first then eat dinner! Lol!

RC with one of her 20014 cubs.

I had a major computer problem.  I was working and it suddenly went black and said "shutting down".  When I got it back on I had no taskbar, it would not open the start menu, nothing worked.  With the help of my remote techs we got it working again about 11 last night.   I t was a lot of viruses.

Marlins lost to Detroit again so they are o-2.  Poor start.

Tomorrow I go to the center and have my back injected.  I hope I get some relief.

I have a lot of reading to do to catch up on posts yesterday,  in the threads I follow.

I send really good wishes to all.  This is the end of our first April week.

Daily Updates
Proud of the Bear Center - UPDATE April 6, 2016
06 April 2016

Watching Ryan Kiesler delicately fasten leaves to bushes for the ?Living and Camping With Bears? exhibit, I Camping with bears exhibit
Camping with bears exhibit
felt extremely proud of what the staff, contributors, and the hired experts in construction and technology have made of the Bear Center. I once saw an online review say parts of the Bear Center looked amateurish. Looking around we all have made the North American Bear Center and Northwoods Ecology Hall beyond what I could have dreamed. It is beautiful and anything but amateurish now. It took time and money for all of us to make it what it is. We can?t wait for you to see it. We can all be proud.

Not everything is perfect, though. Some subscribers are still not getting their updates. They are not alone and it no fault of their own. The webmaster is close to solving the problem, but we are discussing how best to handle it. Until then, pick up the updates at this page: http://www.bearstudy.org/website/updates/daily-updates.html . Thanks so much for your patience.

That IS neat with the bear and tent exhibit  :)

Rues, we have a lot of Amish around here and they've put a lot of the metal roofs on houses around here.  They sure do good work.  When I was walking by the one neighbor's the other day they were up there and a weird shaped piece had to go in due to a dormer and he was carefully fitting it in.  They are more reasonable than the other professionals around.  They also build good pole buildings.

JP, that darn malware can cause a lot of problems just like viruses do if some happen to make their way into the system.

Chester and I got our mile walk in.  The vet's office is the halfway point and they didn't look real busy, so stopped in.  Our vet just happened to come in the front and saw us and said he'd weigh him.  72.2 pounds.  He even looked in his mouth and stuff.  Way to young for me, but danged he's cute.  ;)

It's 40 and sunny out, the sun must help a lot, it wasn't bad walking.

Hi Jewelies!  Boy, is it windy here today!  Handsome and Lily don't even want to go outside!  Unusual for them!  lol  I guess it's scary to hear all that noise.  Today, I'm going to our local high school and look for some plants.  They have a plant sale every spring with plants that the horticulture classes raise.  I haven't been for a few years, but since I took out some of my bushes, I can use something new.  I think I'll look for some Mexican heather and a lantana.  The lantana because my neighbor doesn't like them, but I do.  lol  They like lots of sun, so I'm going to plant it out near where the trees came out near the road.  Of course, I'll plant it back far enough, so she doesn't have the highway department come and cut it down!

Nora... Chester is a big boy!  Sounds like a very nice dog.  Good luck to Joe and his upcoming surgery.  Are YOU ready??   :)  We have some Mennonites around here (similar to Amish) and they're really good carpenters, too.  Maybe they're the same as Amish...

cal... My daughter and the girls brought me a banana split shake yesterday... sure was good.  They got it at a new yogurt/ice cream place in town.  It was something like a DQ blizzard... even had nuts in it.  Yum!  The bear center sure is looking good now!  Inside and out looks great!  Hi Polly!

JP... Sorry to hear about your computer issues.  I can't do any Windows updates (still!!) because all it wants to do is install Windows 10 first and I don't want to do that.  Had to turn the automatic updates off, because it kept messing everything, trying to install 10.  I need to call my computer geek, I think.  I talked to 4 different Microsoft people who all told me they had fixed it, but none of them actually did.   :(

rues... Glad you like your new fence!  A whole year before you stain it?  Never heard of that.  Did they use treated lumber and that's why the wait?  Lavender in a milk shake??  I don't know.......  I'm ready to put some mulch down, but all my violets are blooming and I don't want to cover them up!  I should done it a long time ago, before everything started coming up again.  Oh, well...  lol

Neva... Loved the cubs in the hammock video!  So darn cute!  Thanks for sharing!

blschue... You on your way home?

obsver... Are you getting this wind, too?  Seems like we all are.  Are you ready to start mowing?   :)

Today is Decorah's 2nd birthday/hatchday, our ambassador in training at SOAR.  They're building a new home for him with insulation.  Only 2 of the eggs at Decorah N2B nest have hatched and it may not.  Guess it's been longer between the 2nd and 3rd hatch than ever before, so it might not.  It will be different to see only two eaglets in the nest, if it doesn't hatch.  That's ok though, to me anyway.  A lot of people over there seem to be upset about it...

Hi willi, dlong, Eaglette and anyone I haven't mentioned!

Hi Jewelies!  :)

Good grief! It is so windy today! I was going to go out to Walgreens earlier and decided not to because of the wind. I am off-balance on a good day and when the wind is so strong it almost makes me fall. My younger cat, Georgy Girl, has been freaking out all day. She has worn herself out running from window to window looking out to see what is making all that noise. Scarlett could not care less; she is under the cat blanket on the bed having a several hours long nap!

Cal I looked it up and this is the reason the Amish and Mennonites cover their hair. If you will notice when you see them, the men always wear their hats too. I buy my vegetables and baked goods in the summer from the Mennonites. They sure can cook! There are several groups of them who come to the Farmer's Market in Liberty on Saturdays.

Traditional Mennonite women keep their hair tied back or covered by a small white prayer cap, to symbolize reverence and the importance of their spiritual life.

I have been keeping up with all of your posts. I have really been enjoying the pictures of all the birds and other wildlife in the updates. I wish those little Redpolls would come this far south. They are so cute.

Well, big news for my daughter's foster dog; she got adopted last weekend. Her new family is a husband & wife who own an art gallery. She will go to work with them everyday. I shudder to think about that crazy, VERY active girl being in a place with artwork and sculptures and glasswork! Yikes! She is like a bull in a china shop! Here she is with her new dad. As you can see, she is still thin but much better than she was when Lara first got her.

I decided to try out the home grocery delivery from Hy-Vee last week. I want to be prepared for when the weather is horrible. If you spend over $100, they don't charge for the delivery and even if they do charge it's only $4.95. They brought my stuff in and put it on the kitchen table. The frozen stuff was frozen and the cold stuff was cold so that was good. I was pretty impressed with it except for a few little things. Four out of a dozen eggs were cracked. I don't like their produce as much as I like Price Chopper produce and never have. So my produce was not what I expect from a grocery store. And in the pictures online they show, for instance, a package of 3 chicken breasts. So I ordered one. And I got one big ole chicken breast. Same with the pork chop. LOL! So I found out, you have to tell them how many pieces you want in the package. Anyway, this will be fine for when it's super hot outside or really cold or snowy/icy next winter.

I haven't been watching much on the computer. I really can't sit for very long at all. Mr Arthur is still here and is getting worse in my hip. All this windy weather we have been having is making my eyes water and be irritated a lot. I take Benadryl sometimes but it makes me so sleepy. But I have gotten a few pics for you guys.

Last week I was watching the storm chasers one evening and saw this tornado forming. After I got the second picture, the video stream froze so I didn't get to see the funnel cloud fully formed. But they were pretty close to this and their computers were lagging so they didn't realize that this new rotation was right on top of them. They were in the process of getting out of the way! Pretty scary!

I forgot to tell you guys about my manicure. For my birthday, my sister gave me a gift certificate for a mani/pedi at the place where she goes all the time. Well, I haven't had a manicure in 50 years! And I think people touching your feet is just gross, but I went along with my sister, her daughter and 2 of her granddaughters. I had my nails done with a little spring design. I will go back until my certificate runs out and then I won't bother. But it was fun to spend time with just us girls. Oh, and the little flowers have tiny little glitter on them. Here's what they looked like:

They were doing some panning from the old nest the other day. I still love this view!

Mom Decorah was making her mean mom face the other day. She can look pretty fierce!

The little fluffballs in the Decorah nest were getting ready to do a little bonking on Sunday. Mom had been trying to feed them and they were ignoring her. From the looks of their crops, they probably weren't hungry.

I got this screenshot of Honey awhile back. She is a mess! She's covered with hay and she does NOT look like she has lost any weight over the winter. She sure was moving slowly!

This is little Bei Bei with an apple for Easter. He loves apples!

Well, I need to see if I can find something interesting to eat for dinner. Hi to Cal, JP, Rues, Ra, Obsver, Deb, Neva, Nora, Willi, Blschue, Eaglette, Chippy, Pat and all who visit here. Have a great evening.  :)

Hi Jewelies! It is down right cold here! Been raining off and on all day. Now they are calling for a freeze watch. They say the freeze may damage the fruit trees!

Ra, are lantana perennial there? They aren't here unfortunately. I love them and I always plant them in my urns out front. Then throw them away in the fall. I Googled that waiting for 6 months to a year to stain pressure treated wood and I got lots of different answers! Some say yes others say no. I stained the fencing we put up last year after a month and so far everything looks ok. We got those fence sections at Lowes. The fence guy built the fence on site using a lot nicer wood and you can see that it needs to dry out some. So I think I'll wait a couple months and then stain! One of our area high school's has a greenhouse and they have a spring sale, too! I don't think they made that milk shake right because all I could taste was strawberry. I was curious to taste the lavender. Maybe it tastes like strawberry! Lol! Blacklist tonight!

Cal, we had a bogo...buy one get one...coupon at Sonic. Crow got his standard chocolate. We got the medium size but I can't remember what we paid for them. Don't have to worry about Boo marking the fence because most times he pees like a girl! Lol! Poor mixed up Boo!  Hope Jim remembers what he can mow over and what he can't!

Jp, RC is so shiny! Sorry that Marlins lost. Good luck at the pain doctor tomorrow! Hope he fixes you right up!

Nora, Molly and Chester weigh about the same! He looked so much bigger in his pic. Maybe because he has more hair than Molly! Crow told me last night a couple more things about the fence helper. His first name is Raber and he grew up in eastern Ohio in the Amish area. That's a big tourist attraction. We've been there several times. Have to watch out for the horse and buggies! It looks so strange to see the horses tied up to a hitching post in front of the grocery store!

Dlong, great news about the foster dog! What a lucky family that got her! Your nails look awesome! I've never had a mani pedi in my whole life! Not until recently did I have nails long enough to even bother! I agree with you about someone touching your feet! That home delivery thing sounds great! I don't think there is anything like that around here. I love that view of the Decorah barn, too! Thanks for all your pics! I really enjoy them all!

You all have a nice evening!

Hi dlong!  Good to see you!  I've never had a mani/pedi either.  lol  My nails are always either real short or real long... guess depending how hard I work.  Thanks for the pics.  Interesting hearing you tell about the grocery delivery.  I've heard of that, but I don't think we have anyone close enough here to consider it.

rues... The lantana that I got is a perennial here, but there is another variety that spreads and works well in pots, but it's an annual.  That's probably the kind you get.  I got a lantana, 5 Mexican heather, a few marigolds, and some coleus.  I wasn't planning on the coleus, but they looked so nice and healthy and they like shade, which I have plenty of, that I decided to try it.  My daughter got some herbs and coleus and a few other plants.  The lantana is supposed to get up to 5 or 6 feet tall!!  Don't think they would fit in your urns.  lol  I have to record the Blacklist tonight... I've been watching American Idol for 15 years and tonight is their final show, so I have to watch that!!

cal... I don't think I would have liked that man's reply about the bonnets either!  Too much of a women's libber, I guess.  lol  Ben Affleck was on the Tonight Show last week and I didn't get the impression that he's a very nice guy.  Good looking, but kind of a jerk.  Maybe he was having a bad day...  who knows.

We went out to eat again tonight, had some time to kill, so let's eat!  lol  We went to the Steak House again, but of course, we didn't have steak.  lol

Have a good evening everyone!

Fern and an unidentified boyfriend on a lunch date.

The pain management doctor works on my back this morning.  I hope he is successful.

dlong, I so enjoy the pictures you post. A lot of good memories with the picture of the barn from the N1 camera.

I was up late with a rain-delayed Marlins game but I  did not oversleep.  That is a winner.

I hope this day works out great for all.
