Good morning Jewelies! Chilly this morning...39!  Could have our first frost Saturday night ending the growing season. That dumb weather guy kept saying no frost till November! I should never believe a word he says! :D

Jp, thanks for the pretty birthday greeting! Cal's right, my birthday is actually tomorrow! I get one more day to be 64! Have to live it up today and enjoy being a youngster! :D That Loppy does have some weird ears! Pretty tulip morning greeting! Love tulips!

Happy 1st Birthday to Drama! Where did the year go? Love his Hello Kitty greeting!  Has he eaten his birthday cake yet? Glad your team won! Crow was yelling at the game with Canada. I didn't  ask why! He just kept saying this wouldn't happen if they had managers like they use to have. :-\  Have you heard that Miley Cyrus is planning on doing her next concert nude! Eww!  :o

Be back later. Trying to decide whether to mow today or not. The grass has hardly grown since last week. Decisions, decisions! :D

rues, my apologies for the birthday miss.  I guess I wrote it down wrong.  I hope you can chalk it up to a mistake by an old man with good intentions.  Maybe you can figure it as a Birthday Eve celebration.

Loved the picture of Ted and the visitor staring at each other.  :D

JP, much better to wish Rues a happy birthday a couple days early than late like I seem to lately!!  It's ok, no one could be upset with you, you're too special to all of us.  Love Loppy's ears  :)

Wow Drama is a year already!!  Happy birthday Drama!  That's so neat about the train ride, they looked like they were enjoying it.

The corgi that broke the fishing rod has the happiest face.

We're up to 58 after 42 overnight.  Tomorrow they are saying a high of 47 after a low of 35 tonight and Friday night could get to 24.  Brrrrr.

Ok, puzzle time...........

Hi Jewelies!  :)

I actually watched most of the game last night. It was amazing! When it was over, I could hear faintly the fireworks from the stadium and lots of fireworks close by here.

Well, I have been missing out on getting library books on my Kindle. Within the last year or so apparently they have started cooperating with Amazon and Overdrive so you can borrow the books right to your Kindle. My daughter let me know about it so I went up and got a new library card. You have to get an app called Overdrive first. You pick your book out there and then it will send you to your local library website. Then you click another button and it sends you to Amazon where you download the book just like when you buy books from them. You can keep them 21 days but you can always return them earlier if you want. I can't afford to buy all the new books that I want so this is wonderful!

My cats were chasing an errant fly around the house yesterday and acting like idiots. Then someone posted this on Facebook! LOL!

Cal I'm glad you didn't get your wish that Cueto not pitch last night. He did a wonderful job! I can't believe that Drama is one already. Good heavens! How is your toe today? I was pretty cold last night during the night but I'm holding out and not turning on the furnace yet. I rode the train once to St Louis when I was a young teenager. It was excruciatingly slow. It stopped a million times between here and St Louis. I got train sick, so didn't really enjoy it much. I think maybe the Ray County Library might participate in the lending of books to your Kindle. You should check it out. It's sure cheaper than buying everything.

JP I liked that picture of Loppy. He does have cute ears. How is your sore throat? You didn't mention it, so I'm hoping it went away.

Rues So did you mow or not? I'm really glad it's getting cooler here. I was so ready for this month to come along and now it's half over already! How is Tela doing? Is her brother being nicer yet?

Ra Do you have big weekend plans with the family? I thought of you the other day on my way to the grocery store. I passed a house that was all decorated for Halloween. There were spider webs everywhere and lots of other ghoulish stuff. But there were these little ghosts around a little tree in the yard. They were so cute. This is kind of what they looked like but the ones I saw were around a shorter tree:

Obsver Are you freezing yet?

Nora I heard on the weather channel this morning that there could be snow in Minneapolis this weekend. Yikes! Getting closer to you.

I was watching Ted day before yesterday and he was enjoying hanging out in his new pen. I am really happy about the new camera.

This is a sun bear from the Atlanta zoo. Check out the claws on this one!

This first picture of one of the Atlanta twins reminds me of Ted when he sits leaning on his log. The second pic from Facebook is Mei Huan and the last one is both girls napping the other day.

This is Mr Wu from San Diego. He is really all grown up now. And he loves his hammock!

Bei Bei now weighs over 6 pounds. He doesn't have to sleep on mom now. His eyes are open and he is getting to be much more active and VERY loud. This video is of mom Mei taking him for a little stroll out to the enclosure. It just kills me to see her carry him now. He just bumps along the floor like a sack of flour! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYXJPCGFrXw&list=TL_Yie-IjvNn4xNTEwMjAxNQ

Hi to Willi, Chippy, Neva, Pat, Chippy, Blschue and all who visit here. Hope you are having a great day!  :D

Cal, that video brought back so many memories! I can remember singing that song and never dreaming one day I'd actually be 64 and in 8 hours I'd be 65! Thanks for the video...I'll always love my Beatles! You got a good deal on the kitty litter! I never find good deals.

Jp, oh my goodness! No apologies needed! I'm just thrilled that you thought enough about me to wish me a happy birthday! You are so sweet!

Dlong, I mowed! :D Just my front and side yard, though. And I didn't trim. Robin's yard didn't need it. So at her house I played with Wilson and Tela! Wilson is doing better, less hissing. He follows her around and corners her if he can. But now he is ignoring his mom. No purring or sleeping with her since Tela came. Robin is a little upset about that. Second guessing herself about bringing Tela home and upsetting Wilson's world. But then she holds Tela and Tela purrs so that helps a little. I tell her it will take time. After all, Tela didn't appear until last Friday! Great pics! Love them all! Crow has something set up with our county library where he can get books on line. That makes it very convenient. Love the Facebook post...sky raisins! My sister has some ghosts like that in her yard. She says hers are singing ring around the rosie! :D

Nora, sounds like you are in for some cold weather!

Cal ~ You asked a day or two ago ...  no, I don't follow baseball, or football either.  My dad LOVED baseball, and always had a game on the radio or TV when I was a kid, so I love the sound of it sometimes in the background, and will once in a while put a game on while I'm busy doing something else.  The older of my two brothers - Doug - loves baseball as much as our dad did.  There is almost nothing you can ask him about baseball that he wouldn't know the answer to.  I like the Olympic sports, and I used to watch tennis a lot.

D ~ Thanks for the photos that you post.  I just love Sun Bears.  Also, we have a Siamese kitten here (Eden) that LOVES Sky Raisins.  I'm glad that you put a name to it for my family, 'cause she makes them look delicious.   lol!  Our older cat, (Stormy) says, "Me ?? ... you expect me to catch those things??? ... Never!"   (btw ... Stormy thinks that Eden is an idiot anyway)

You know, I usually am reading along here, and don't say much myself ...  and every now and again, I look for the 'LIKE' button.   :D  ... and I don't even like Facebook, or do much there ... just read for the most part ... family posts.  I have some automatic thing - looking for the like button.  I'm weird.  lol!

A Bird on the Hand - UPDATE October 15, 2015

Chickadee in hand
Chickadee in hand
Today, we went out on the second floor deck and noticed expectant chickadees. We grabbed handfuls of sunflower seed hearts to see if these were chickadees who remembered us from last winter. They were. Several immediately landed. The recently arrived flock I mentioned was indeed what I hoped. It?s now bird-feeding rather than bear-feeding for the next half year or so.

At the Bear Center, another beautiful sign was added to the d?cor. Lucky and Holly are sleeping together in the bunker den. Holly showed us she could make a wild den if she wanted to but she?d rather sleep with Lucky.

In preparation for a great bunch of Lily Fan volunteers coming to work this weekend, we safely tied a rope to a dead tree we want to top. I liked the picture someone snapped. It shows I?m not all that old yet. 76 is only a number.

Thank you for all you do.
