6:15 Winter is back today.  Only 33 at 9am.  Light dusting left over from night.  It is Friday, but not as exciting as when I worked every day. TGIF was true then.  Now all my days are so similar I am not sure what day it is unless I have an appointment that day.
Lots of Eagle activity.  This is my favorite sign of Winter passing.  It is still a wonder to me how the Eagles can think Spring when the cold and snow are so intense.  They are tough.  The vultures seem to have a more realistic approach by nesting in doors and waiting until it is a little warmer.  Plus they entertain us throughout the Summer as they slowly change from white to black.  The falcons are in the middle trying to fledge before the bugs drive them out.
Wish we still had a nice bear cub cam to watch.  I did not realize how very rare it was to see the things we saw in years past, and I miss them.
Well I saved my paper from yesterday to read with my morning coffee, which is long gone.  So I will brew a second cup and read the paper.  CUL EV1 GBU and GB Ukraine

Bobcat and Birds - UPDATE January 6, 2023

Chickadee
At my desk, I was looking for one thing—the bobcat. Finally, at 5:20 PM, he came for his raw drumstick outside my window. I saw his back as he went by. I aimed the camera and waited. It took a few minutes but then his forequarters came into view, looking at the drumstick and the peanuts that were stuck to it. He heard the frantic clicking and looked—holding perfectly still for maybe 10 seconds. Looking unsure, he backed away. I don’t know if it was me or the clicking. Ten minutes later there he was, taking the drumstick with me not ready. I hope he becomes more and more trusting.

Bobcat   Bobcat
Birds were coming all day, and I couldn’t help clicking this chickadee that sat in extra good light making its feathers stand out in good detail.

We had a Bear Center board meeting yesterday that included voting another term for members whose terms had expired. I am thankful and happy that they voted me back in for another term as chairman. Thank you, board.

And thank you all for all you do.

Glad you liked your fencers Cal.  That is a big job.  Sorry your were "nuts".
No big plans for today.  May have to go get a few things on my list.  Can't remember right now what they are, but not critical.  I don't think. LOL
I will wish you all the best for this 7th day of the new year.

  Tree Nymph  31:16
Rail Wagon   24:15    70°  (4:05 pm)   Sunny, clear skies and windy.   Nice day.

Hi everyone.  I hope you are well and having a decent day, or a better day if that is what you're needing.

Cal, you had asked about my brother, I went to see him Weds. and he looks beaten up.  He fell as I had mentioned, so on top of being so thin, and bald, he has a black eye from the fall.  Thankfully, he was out in the front room, watching TV and able to take an active part in a conversation.  He is apparently in a rest period between Chemo scheduling.  Usually, he is a sports nut, I asked him if he is finding games to watch, and he says not that much, right now he has other things on his mind.  Yes, he does.  He has Pancreatic cancer.  I worry about his wife too and I imagine Doug worries about her too.  If he doesn't make it, she has some issues too.  Cancer is such a sad, frustrating and beastly situation.

I'm glad that the guys did a good job on your fencing.  It's always good to get a problem well solved.

I love the Poem from the Cat that you posted.  So true.  I had a tawny/grey Tabby cat named Francis (for St. Francis) who brought me a baby cottontail Rabbit that he had caught in the desert next to our house.  He did not injure it in anyway, just ran in the front door and released it in the living room.  We had to catch it and get it back to the desert where it belonged.  We asked an expert first, who told us to release it because they are on their own very quickly.

Hi Joho,  I hope all went well for you today.

hi joho i watched the chiefs few minute before i went to work in the barn they got a td then came back in later on and saw another td The Kansas City Chiefs have secured the AFC's No. 1 seed for the third time in five seasons. Kansas City defeated the Las Vegas Raiders, 31-13, on Saturday in their regular-season finale to clinch the conference's top seed, which includes a first-round bye and potentially home-field advantage throughout the postseason.  :)

hi neva  cancer is a beast. listen sometimes it can be beaten. today is the 10th years boobie did not.and my dads too  but now they have more stuff to beat it. very nice your cat did not hurt the bunny. yes bunnies have to grow up so very fast. i saw on the weather channel earlier it was 41 for you.

hi alice hope good weather for you wed last night i gave indy a butterscotch for horses and mule looks like a big pellet i was not paying attention he turns his face sideways to get it and he got it but also my fingertip i mean pain i yelled out he knew i was pissed. just yelling out but i could not help it. this morning he was acting sorry and all happy i had not hard feelings over it. hay just a finger. got nine more left.  :)

4:54 good time again for me.  Pays to get woke up I guess.  Nice day.  Did a lot of walking just to walk.  I put on lots of layers and was just fine. It was not very windy.
A new friend , Vincent, has cancer and needs healing prayers if anyone thinks of it.  I believe the more the merrier with prayer.
Anxiously awaiting a good report of how Indy does not try to jump or otherwise get out of his nice new fence.
Winter is here, but it is not bitter like last week.
Neck is getting stiff.  So I will say good night and CUL EV1.  GBU and GB Ukraine

5:50  30 and grey day at 8:30.
Good morning.  Was up early, but just had to fool around on cams until now.  Now I feel like getting going.  Not sure where yet, but out and about.  Maybe road trip.  Maybe woods hike. Or maybe a trail hike if too wet.
Anyway GBU and CUL EV1.  GB Ukraine

They always seemed to pass me by,
I never knew the reason why.
All my friends had found a home,
And only I remained alone.
But finally, somebody came,
And spoke to me with a gentle tone.
I hardly dared believe it true,
Into my human's arms, I flew.
Our first embrace - my heart beat fast,
A family of my own at last!
And when tonight I rest my head,
In my new warm and cosy bed.
A prayer I'll send, high up above,
May all the shelter pups find love

Train Station ... 26:14     71°  (4:49 pm)   Sunny, a few clouds and no wind.  Nice day.

I hope all is well.

Yes Joho, prayers will be said for your friend, and you ... always.

Hi Cal.  Does indy seem to like his new fenced in area?  Hey, you need all your fingers!  I cringed just reading that.

Nights of the Bobcat, Days of Birds - UPDATE January 9, 2023

Female Pileated Woodpecker
Raw chicken, boneless cooked chicken, bologna, and big pieces of suet disappeared over the last couple nights as the bobcat made tracks entering and exiting from under the front deck. He followed a pattern but not at a time when I could see him.

Wanting at least some of the suet to remain for the birds, I tied it down. Moments later, the first female pileated woodpecker I’ve seen for months showed up with the male, and he let her have first dibs. She’s the one in the picture, identified by the mustache streak that extends back from the lower beak being black rather than red.

Chickadee
Chickadee
Blue jay
Blue jay
White-breasted nuthatch
White-breasted nuthatch
The first bird of the morning was this chickadee. Then, the stream of birds wanting raw peanuts or sunflower seed hearts began—blue jays, chickadees, red-breasted nuthatches and this white-breasted nuthatch; along with hairy, downy, and the red-bellied woodpecker also appreciating the suet.

In the morning, we’ll see if the suet survived the jaws and tugging of the bobcat during the night.

Thank you for all you do,
