Seagull Fort  ...  30+       94°  (2:26) ... bright and sunny, and barely a breath of wind at this point.

You know, Cal ... I think Biden is a decent man, but sometimes forgets what he and other world partners have decided, and just says what he would like to do, if it were just his decision to make.  You see how often "the W. House has to walk back" what he says.  I didn't want to think so, but am starting to, that he is too old to do this... maybe.  I think if it were just up to Joe, he'd give Zen the weapons that he needs, but we have to consider the promises we've signed onto with everyone else.  Plus ...  Putin has a bad army, training wise and otherwise, but his new missiles are first class.  That lunatic could hit Washington with them.  They have a missile that goes 5 times the speed of sound, we don't have that, but are working on catching up.  Those particular missiles are hard to detect and bring down.  I think the Russians are going to have to deal with him, but will they, ever?  We are trying to weaken him economically, but will that work?

I hope that Pearl will be alright, Cal.  I wish you'd get a couple of days let up on the rain too.

I was more talking to myself about the why not part of Biden's decisions, but I really in my heart would love to give the Ukrainians what they do really need to do this.  I hope that Boris continues to step out there and help.  I guess he drives the British crazy sometimes, but I think he does have a heart too.  He usually is the first one to show up in these bad times.

Every time I see President Zelensky asking again and again for help, I feel awful.  He is getting help, but this thing doesn't stop, it keeps on going, and I can feel what they are probably feeling and thinking.  The great frustration and loss.

just got a good look at least two baby TV.  What a good mom.  She has been feeding them regularly all day and yesterday too. The GSB falcon babies are suffering from flies. The north eaglets too are fighting bugs.
I will support our president.  He has I guess, spoken out of turn, but who has not.  I have liked what I have actually heard him say.  If others say they heard different, they may be lying to make him weaker.  This is definitely going on.  We must keep an open mind and support his actions.  I am certain his actions are not prompted by personal gain like so many others today.
I think I did the puzzle, but do not know my time.  I will guess 6:15, my average.  Been a scorcher here today.  Sun is setting and it is still 85.
I will say cul ev1 GBU and GB Ukraine.

The US will send Ukraine more advanced rocket systems to help it defend itself, President Biden has announced.
The weapons, long requested by Ukraine, are to help it strike enemy forces more precisely from a longer distance.
Until now, the US had refused the request out of fear the weapons could be used against targets in Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the US was "directly and intentionally adding fuel to the fire" with its weapons deliveries to Ukraine.
Separately, the German government has promised to send an air defence system to Ukraine.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz told MPs that the IRIS-T system was the most modern Germany possessed and would enable Ukraine to defend an entire city against Russian air attacks.
He added that he would provide tracking radar capable of detecting enemy artillery, and multiple rocket launchers.
Balancing act
On Wednesday, Mr Biden said the lethal aid would strengthen Kyiv's negotiating position against Russia and make a diplomatic solution more likely.
Writing in the New York Times, he said: "That is why I've decided that we will provide the Ukrainians with more advanced rocket systems and munitions that will enable them to more precisely strike key targets on the battlefield in Ukraine."
This is a fine balancing act for Mr Biden, as providing more powerful weapons could provoke a reaction from Russia, risking direct conflict between the US and its Nato allies and Moscow.
New weaponry will include the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), a senior White House official said - although he did not specify how many of them would be supplied.
The systems can launch multiple precision-guided missiles at targets as far as 70km (45 miles) away - far further than the artillery that Ukraine currently has. They are also believed to be more accurate than their Russian equivalents.

This announcement has been a long time coming and represents one of the most significant military commitments so far.
As they face overwhelming Russian firepower in a grinding, attritional battle for the Donbas, Ukrainian forces complain that they lack firepower.
The HIMARS could change that.
Its GPS-guided rockets are much more accurate than the equivalent Russian systems. It's also much quicker to reload and, as the name suggests, the launch vehicles can move quickly from one location to another.
US and Ukrainian officials will already be having detailed conversations about how and where to use the HIMARS when they arrive.
Ukraine will be looking to hit targets well beyond its current reach - command and control centres, logistics hubs, and the Russian batteries that have Ukrainian troops pinned down in Donbas.

Last month, Ukraine's army chief said that getting the HIMARS units would be "crucial" in allowing it to counter Russian missile attacks.
The US expects Ukraine to deploy the weapons in the eastern Donbas region, where the fighting is most intense, and where they can be used to strike Russian artillery units and forces targeting Ukrainian towns.
White House officials agreed to provide the rockets, they said, only after gaining assurances from President Volodomyr Zelensky that the weapons would not be used to attack targets inside Russia.
"We are not going to send to Ukraine rocket systems that can strike into Russia," Mr Biden wrote on Wednesday.
Mr Zelensky confirmed this in an interview for US network Newsmax.
"We're not interested in what is happening in Russia," he said. "We're only interested in our own territory in Ukraine."
But Dmitry Peskov said Moscow did not trust Mr Zelensky's remarks.
"In order to have trust, we need to have experience of Kyiv fulfilling its promises, but there is none," he said, quoted by Ria news agency.
Addressing the US announcement, he said: "We believe the US is directly and intentionally adding fuel to the fire."
"The US is obviously holding the line that it will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian."

The latest rockets will be the centrepiece of a $700m (£556m) support package for Ukraine that will be formally unveiled on Wednesday, White House officials said.
Helicopters, anti-tank weapons, tactical vehicles and spare parts are to be included in what will be the 11th package of military aid approved by the US for Ukraine since the invasion began in February.
In Wednesday's article, Mr Biden wrote that the US's goal was simply to see a "democratic, independent, sovereign" Ukraine, not to oust Mr Putin from his role as Russian president or to seek broader conflict with Moscow.
He blamed Russia's continued aggression for the stalling of peace efforts, adding that the US would never put pressure on Ukraine to concede any of its territory in return for an end to the conflict.
Directly addressing the risk of nuclear weapons being used in Ukraine, Mr Biden said "we currently see no indication" of this being Russia's intention - but warned that doing so would be unacceptable and bring with it "severe consequences".
Soon after Mr Biden's piece was published, Russian military officials announced that the country's nuclear forces were holding drills in Ivanovo region near Moscow.
The drills involve around 1,000 service personnel and over 100 vehicles. They consist of patrols, setting up missile systems and protecting them from attacks, but missiles will not be launched.

i was happy to read this and hope its true send them something better oh russia does not trust pres zen

5:54 Hornbills. Not bad for me.  Hot out today again and supposed to rain later.  I will stay in.
Thanks Cal for posting the news. Looks like Biden is doing exactly what he was asked to do.  In spite of all the negativity we have heard from the news.  I no longer trust the news.  I trust what I see and hear myself, and I trust our president.
For example, "last month"  implies a long ago request, but it could have been as recent as yesterday.
Just a thought.
I am very glad to hear Pearl seems ok for now.  I often wonder why she and Mr. Unruly don't go outside so they can get some vitamin D or C or whatever from the sun.  Does Pearl still take medicine for the raccoon disease she had a year ago?  Is Sweets immune to the racoon disease?
Well better go for now.  CUL EV1.  GBU and GB Ukraine.

President Joe Biden been known for his gaffes and slips of the tongue—generally breaches of decorum rather than substance. But in the realm of international politics and security, minor changes in wording can lead to substantively different interpretations. That was evident in a recent statement made by Biden asserting a U.S. commitment to defend Taiwan that his staff seemingly attempted to walk back—and late in May it appears to be tripping up his messaging regarding military assistance to Ukraine.

As Russian forces advance further into Ukraine’s Donbas region with the reported capture of most of the symbolically important city of Severodonetsk, speculation and controversy swirled around Biden’s statement Monday, “We’re not going to send to Ukraine rocket systems that can strike into Russia” in response to a journalist’s question.

In other words, Ukraine will receive MRLS systems, just not the longest-range munition those systems are capable of firing: the MGM-140 Advanced Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), which has a maximum range of 186 miles.

That was confirmed the evening of May 31, when White House sources confirmed the U.S. would give M142 High Mobility Artillery Systems (HIMARS) to Ukraine in its forthcoming June arms package.

That came after days of reports from prominent U.S. media his administration was preparing to authorize sending Multiple Rocket Launcher Systems (MRLSs) to Ukraine, which were urgently requested by Kyiv to counter Russian artillery.
In fact, this was another misworded statement exploded into unnecessary controversy. Biden should have said “longer-range rockets” or “missiles,” not “rocket systems.” And of course, any artillery weapon near the border can strike “into Russia”—the intended meaning was deep into Russia.

Hornbill and Starling ...  22:06    90°  (8:07 pm)    It was a usual sunny day, more breezy as the day passes.

Thanks for posting all of that info, Cal.  I'm glad to see that new things will be sent, more in line with what they need over there.

I do like Biden and do support him while he is in the White House.  If I worked in the White House, his gaffes would make me nervous, as I am sure it does some of them.  Maybe NATO needs to review some of its rules.  Who I vote for next election depends, as always on the who, what and why of things.
