hi you guys its 32 here i see no stars or moon another sleet rain day its like every day this week a big chance for that i was going to mow yesterday but hit hard with sleet sidewalk was pretty slick so no mowing  jim went fishing down at the lake be gone till thursday he said so been nice here. getting other stuff done. I saw ukraine getting out zoo animals some got killed trying to sneak them to safety poland took them gb poland again my cousin janice sent me easter greetings said he has risen i told her he needs to pay putin a visit he can get to him.  maripol said getting ready to fall people there are starving putin will not let red cross in no help to them at all surrender or die. i would pick dying but starving too death and unless you belong to a special club that is what will happen.  :( >:(

HI Joho Well hoping you are still are doing good and maybe go home tomorrow.

Hi neva i had to google your bees..Since honey bees of all species are pollinators for plants and crops, this means there are also regulations about how and when you can remove a honey bee's nest. Do not risk yourself, your family or your pets being stung by Africanized honey bees. They are still a risk and potentially deadly. yes you need to call someone to help with the bees! Be careful keep zoe away which i am sure you are doing.  you got some nice weather little warm for me but the dry i would love saw more snow for dr rogers and the bears.

God Bless all of ukraine god dont let them starve too death

8:41  Oh Well.  Done is done.  Good morning EV1.
Watching Twitter take over news by Musk.  Workers are all upset and worried about their jobs.
More terrible news from Ukraine.  Russia is really being hideous with the people.
I am going to take a break from the news now.  I am good this morning.  Thank you God.  CUL EV1  GBU and GB Ukraine.

From Javelin anti-tank missiles to body armor, the U.S. military has shipped some ten million pounds of weapons and equipment bound for Ukraine. But is it enough?

"It still does not feel like we are all-in to win," said retired Gen. Ben Hodges, a former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe. He says U.S. support for Ukraine is just too cautious.

"We have exaggerated the potential for a so-called World War III to the point that we're making policy decisions based on an exaggerated fear," Hodges told CBS News national security correspondent David Martin

Last week Russia again warned the U.S. weapons shipments could bring unpredictable consequences. But that didn't stop the Biden administration from ratcheting up its support for Ukraine, with 18 Howitzers and 40,000 artillery shells. "It's a standard field artillery piece, pretty lethal combat system," said retired Army Colonel Richard Hooker, who served with the 82nd Airborne.

Martin asked, "How long will 40,000 rounds last?"

"I would say weeks, not months," Hooker replied.

The Howitzers are part of a new military aid package, which also includes 200 armored personnel carriers. Hooker said, "It will be helpful, but I wouldn't characterize it as a gamechanger."

Retired General Philip Breedlove, the former commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Europe, said, "I used to think that given these atrocities and the depths of the depravity of the actions of Russia, that the West would become involved. But clearly the West has made a decision that they're not going to go in there with direct force."

cont

Martin asked, "The Biden administration says it has spent more than $2.5 billion on equipment for the Ukrainian military. Isn't that enough?"

"I don't think that the amount of money nor the amount of tons of equipment that we provided is the measure of merit," Breedlove said. "The real measure of merit is, when are these weapons in the hands of the Ukrainian military so they can destroy Russian equipment, so they can kill Russian soldiers? Because that is what will end this war."

Breedlove said Western aid has failed to save the city of Mariupol from Russia's siege tactics. "Forces in Mariupol are surrendering because they didn't have enough food and bullets – very basic things. We need to make sure that those things are delivered to the front where the fighting is going on."

"How does the U.S. do that?" asked Martin.

"Well, I think that we have done it in the past, haven't we? Remember the Berlin Airlift?"

That was in 1948, when Josef Stalin threw up a land blockade around the city of Berlin, and the U.S. called his bluff with a massive airlift.

I don't think that should be off the table for consideration here," said Breedlove.

If U.S. supply flights fly into Ukrainian air space, aren't they liable to be attacked by Russian aircraft?"

"Surely they are. We took the same risks in the Berlin Airlift, didn't we?"

"And is this just a question of calling Putin's bluff?"

"I believe we're accumulating risk right now by doing nothing," Breedlove said. "I do not believe there is a no-risk way out of this conflict. We need for the Ukrainians to win this fight."

Desert Fountain ...  20:04          94°  (4:02 pm)   Sunny, clear skies and a wee bit of a breeze.  Usually, you are okay out here if you have a breeze, shade and something to drink - (water or water based).  There is an art to getting through a desert summer.  Timing is everything.

We've had the African Bees here in the desert for quite a few years now and have heard all the stories about how wicked they can be.  We've been warned about the fact that they are out in the desert too.  Zoe is upset that she cannot be let out into the backyard at the moment either until this is done with.  We are being really careful.

I agree with you, Cal.  This thing in the Ukraine really upsets me, almost speechless at times.  This should be handled differently, but all we can do is watch and pray and get upset.  I cannot say that I know exactly what to do, but  someone needs to do something.

I'm glad that you are feeling better Joho, and have some idea of when you can get home.

Take care, both of you

Tasha Licking Sap? Redpolls vs. Juncos, and the Moment of the Day!!! - UPDATE April 18, 2022
Tasha in cub tree
Tasha in cub tree

A week ago when temperatures were 15 degrees warmer than today, "Taught" caught Tasha licking red maple saplings in this 3:41-minute music video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFnxIrAxgZo I’ve seen wild bears do that, so, if 47 degrees was warm enough for sap to run, I can’t think of another reason why Tasha would be licking like that.

Yesterday, "Pooch Pal" got a revealing picture of Tasha in the cub tree. It shows how broad she is, or maybe just appears to be with 4-inch long fur sticking straight out from her torso.

Redpolls and a Junco
Redpolls and a Junco
  Redpolls and a Junco
Redpolls and a Junco
At the WRI, dark-eyed juncos are migrating through, giving me a chance to see how they are accepted (or not) by redpolls that are busy ingesting sunflower seed hearts. Will the redpolls accept juncos like a flock of them accepted a purple finch that squeezed in shoulder to shoulder among them? Today, a junco landed several inches away from these three redpolls that included an adult male. A burst of three clicks within a single second caught the action as the male redpoll made a fast turn with beak open, Mink Guitar 4-6-2021
Mink Guitar on 4-6-2021
making the junco leap high and away before spreading its wings to streak past the redpolls that were back to eating already. Juncos, at 0.67 ounce, are almost half again the weight of a 0.46-ounce redpoll. Not all encounters are the same, though. Later in the day, a junco peacefully pecked up seeds at the edge of a group of redpolls. Those redpolls did not have an adult male, though, if that makes any difference. Still learning.

The moment of the day came at the very end. A mink (either Clear, Spot, or Guitar, all have the big clear white patch under the chin) came to the window that they visited regularly up until a year ago. I wasn’t ready. A gull had eaten all the bologna. I opened the door while I looked for something edible, but the mink went down the steps and under the first floor deck. I put out bologna and hope it comes back over and over. I’d about given up on seeing a mink after not seeing one for a year. The picture of Guitar is from when I last saw him or her (I have to go back and compare more photos) on April 6, 2021.

Thank you for all you do,

hi you guys its 30 here stars and the full moon so rain now but huge chance again tonight and tomorrow not complaining worse things than that like starving. Pearl and sweets and maybe cat doing really good.

hi joho hoping you are so much better that you go home sometime today. get back to your routine. i did not watch news last night saw this morning said us training ukaraine troops well i think been down that road before maybe doing that to ease our conscience somewhat.

Hi Neva i knew you would not want zoe get to hurt. i am a big Dune fan read that book years ago and saw the first movie years ago saw the new one and really liked it thought where is the rest of it another movie to follow i reread the book and was happy to see frank herbert wrote like 4 more books to dune so i got on the list for the second one and his son went on to write like 4 more of dune so looking forward to that too. he wrote the first one back in like 1968 and no one would publish it but one did chilton who publishes motor books fixing your car and trucks. but when i think of dune or rewatch parts of that movie i think of you in your desert. pretty sure you dont have the huge sand worms protecting the spice in the desert. but in dune oh the desert is so beautiful. i think we need to go into ukraine ukraine came and helped with iraq and afganistan pretty clear they need help not just doling out weapons but help period. i just have to really work on freeing up my mind from this for a little bit then back to it not like they get to free their minds. hard to see putin doing what he pleases and everyone stands back  he will never be charged with war crimes hell no one would go get him.

6:57  cold and more snow this morning 37 degrees at 11:43.  Winter again.
Been to Dr.  A ok.  Do what ever I feel safe doing.  No rehab.  Follow up in 6 weeks.  Deb will take me home at 6 this evening.  All I have to do today is some paperwork, and pack my stuff.
So I have a little time for cams and you all.  Also, I am still 82 so there may be some nap time too. LOL  Surgery did not take away any age.  Too bad.  I wish there were an age pill, or a youth pill.
On Thursday my Grand daughter, Shannon, is going to Key West where JP lived.  She and four friends are flying from Cleveland to Atlanta, and then flying to Key West.  She will miss the long bridge.  I told her I will be watching her on all the cams there.  So she better behave.
I expect lunch will be here soon.  So I will say so long for a while.  GBU and GB Ukraine.

I hurt my back lifting  stuff .  It compressed nerves in three locations.  Causing sciatica.  The Dr. cut out something at three joints.  Now, no more butt or leg pain.
Only have to heal incisions, and what is under them.  They took out 17 little metal staples today.  Each one hurt more than I expected.  Debbie said they were in a few days longer than they usually are.  I am looking forward to getting around better now. Walking is already much better.
I am still in rehab using Joanie's laptop that she bought many years ago so she could have it during her knee rehab.  Thank you Joanie. We miss you.
I hope Pearl and all the pets are doing well.  Spring is near for all of us. TYG

Bye foe now EV1 GBU and GB Ukraine

Beach Shack ...  27:15          95°  (2:55 pm)   Overcast, and breezy.

We found a family owned business that specializes in Bee Removal of Africanized Bees and they will be here tomorrow.  They keep them alive for the sake of the bee population in general.  God bless them for that.

Hi Cal ... I really enjoyed that first Dune Movie, but haven't read the book.  I should have.  I'm glad to hear that they've done more with the story.

Hi Joho ...  You are making great progress.  That is good to hear.  It's a good thing that you took Joan's laptop with you to rehab.

  God Bless the Ukrainians.

Hi Neva! So happy to read you found someone who will remove those bees and keep them alive! very happy over that. yes earth needs bees it really does why god made them i guess. God Bless that family own business! Yay zoe you will be able to go out back again! i love my ipad and my library with the ebooks. just so easy now if ebook available sign in with my library card they sent me there is the book keep it for 21 days then then back it goes i do not have to leave the house to do that. not available put it on hold it tells you how many ebooks and how many on hold before me. i bet your library has that you should check into it. i always like reading the book not just the movie book goes into more. this new dune movie is pretty good usually i do not like redoing a movie but it is good in two parts so i will have to wait till second comes on tv i will not go in a movie place anymore not for a long time i think last time was a twilight movie went with sister and niece jeanne. those books were so good too twilight series. but that first dune movie was really good. i barely watched some of the ukraine news yesterday not on cnn but regular news. people close to russian troops just regular civilians old people sitting on their porches little kids people still walking around driving their cars they say they have no money no where to go had to turn it off cause no one is going in helping i read usa not even sure that ukraine getting all them weapons cause no us troops over in ukraine to see. i would hope that they come thru like poland and someone from nato checking on that. good god. well there goes my coyotee in the kitchen oooooooooo oooooooooo

Hi Joho hope you are home and doing good! yes good to have joanies laptop. dont get stupid at home do not lift stuff etc.
