What is banned by the Geneva Convention?
The 1925 Geneva Protocol prohibits the use of chemical and biological weapons in war. The Protocol was drawn up and signed at a conference which was held in Geneva under the auspices of the League of Nations from 4 May to 17 June 1925, and it entered into force on 8 February 1928.

Carriage ...  29:51         I think it got into the 70s today, and was increasingly windy as the day went along.

Thanks for posting the painting of the sunflowers and Ukrainian flag yesterday.  I really liked that.  I must say, you have some interesting ideas, Cal ... and dreams too.  I wonder if they could go over there to Poland and fly those planes back themselves?  There's probably some reason why not.  You are right though, I do think that if anything accidentally hits a NATO country, I believe Putin will hear about it.

This is infuriating.

The Cat is Back! - UPDATE March 10, 2022
Bobcat
Bobcat
Pretty Girl was here at 11:40 PM last night, but we’ll see if she comes tonight after the bobcat spent a couple hours today eyeing squirrels that never went close enough to get caught. Bobcat
Bobcat from above
An hour later, resting by the garage, he held still just long enough for a close-up photo that shows the life in his eyes (click for cropped close-up). I say ‘his’ because all the books say his name is Bobcat. Someday, if we learn different, she can be a Bobbie Cat.

Out the window, redpolls arrived in flocks and would stay to eat if a person stands quietly, but nearly all fly off when blue jays, hairy woodpeckers, Redpolls
Redpolls
crows, or fast-moving red squirrels come too close. Crows arrived on schedule at the beginning of March.

Thank you for all you do,

5:18 ship looks like a good place to catch some rays and lots of other stuff too. I am not a fan of cruises.

Sure glad to see such wonderful pics of the Bobcat at doc's.  It is very rare to watch one just sitting around.  Doc has a gift for nature in so many ways.  I am so glad he choses to share with us as he does.  We are blessed too.

Cal your sleeping arrangements do not make me jealous.  I could not sleep with so much going on in my bed.  No wonder you go to bed at 8pm.  I usually go down at about midnight, and rise at 8am.  I do not usually dream that I can recall. Instead of the late news I like to end my day with Jimmy Fallon, Colbert, and Jimmy Kimmel. Just FYI.

I read in the paper that some Americans are going to Ukraine to fight.  They are being screened by the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington DC for past training and character.  With ex-soldiers being preferred.  They must provide their own protective gear, and make their own way to a specific crossing spot in Poland.  6000 have applied, but only 100 American citizens have made the cut.  God Bless Ukraine, and stop Putin for all our sakes.

  Yacht Garden    30:45              63°   (5:10 pm)   Sunny, windy ... I can't complain.

That Bobcat is gorgeous!  So is Pretty Girl.  I hope they both live long and do well.  I love the doctor's photography.  Someone should talk him into publishing a book of his wildlife photography, the proceeds could help with his work.

I often enough stay up until 3 am. and get up between 10 to 12 noon.    Odd hours, I know ... but...  Before Larry retired, we got up every weekday morning at 4:30 and got our days started... kids off to school and Larry off to work.  When he did retire, he said he wanted to sleep later, and I said, that's fine, you can sleep 'til noon if you want to.  So, he did... and stayed up later at night.  He's gone now, but I like the hours I keep.  I am a night owl now.

I don't let any of the cats or dogs in my room.  Maddie was the last one to sleep in my room, Zoe sleeps with my daughter, Michelle.  I just don't want cat or dog fur in my room because of my asthma, plus the animals make me too warm and pinned down so you can't move .....    Anyway, it is funny how you know the motivations that each of them have for a sleeping position.

I do remember Steve Allen, he was funny.  I liked Jack Paar as well... he was a bit odd, but funny as well.

There are some men that love the life of being a soldier or fighting somewhere.  I think that many of them couldn't resist this chance to go fight over there.  I am glad that the Ukrainians are screening them though, that is very important.

More Bobcat, No Fox - UPDATE March 11, 2022
Redpolls
Redpolls
Bob the Cat was here twice today, and we might have learned how he could be here unseen more than we know. It started this morning about 10:30 AM when ‘Eyes of the Night,’ a.k.a. Peggy the Volunteer Assistant Bookkeeper, dropped a foam knee pad from the second floor deck while she was changing batteries in the outdoor thermometer. She went down the steps, turned and went under the deck, and as she was passing within a foot of the feeder outside the living room window, the bobcat shot out from under it and raced to the back of the WRI cabin and turned the corner. We had no idea Bob lurked under that feeder near deer and red squirrels.

Knowing that he had been there, Lorie searched videos of that area and discovered that five hours later, at 3:16 PM, he went back under the feeder but left only a minute later as these two few-second videos show. https://youtu.be/WnBr3AxSClE

I wonder if Bob’s tendency to be unseen might explain why deer sometimes don’t come until much later than normal and why Pretty Girl is on alert or doesn’t come at all some days. As we learn Bob’s lurking spots, we’ll be better able to know. Time will tell.

But it takes more than the occasional fox or bobcat to deter hungry redpolls out the window.

Thank you for all you do,

4:43 Pretty good for me.  Thanks for helping me get started this cold morning.  20° but windy.  Feels like the arctic out there.  No walking today.  Lots of solitaire and computer viewing I think.
Had a nice Friday fish dinner with Deb and Boss last night.  Paid $22 at Blue Sky for the dinners, instead of $40 at the church. At the end though she asked me to go back to the church, because the taste was a lot better there.  I agreed. So next week it will cost me $50 instead of $22, but will be worth it to get some good chowder, good fish, and a side of pierogis. Still $50 for two fish dinners is high.  I hope the church does well.
Had a nice long visit with lots of good childhood memories shared, mine and hers.  Mostly about numerous injuries we had growing up versus her three children who are grown and have never even been to the hospital for accidents.
Also lots of new dog tricks.  Boss is so smart. He is a character and very entertaining in the home.  Debbie is dedicated to making him fun and safe to walk with.  She is making slow progress.  She has abandoned the shock collar and uses only a gentle nose restraint type collar.  He still lunges from time to time scaring her.
Snow was slippery on the walks and drives, but looked very nice on the trees and bushes along the country roads.
Well that is all I have time for right now.  So CUL EV1 GBU and God Bless Ukraine

5:16 Finally got to it after midnight.
Had a nice visit with Boss today.  Debbie brought him over to visit while she went to get him some new food.  He did not like the last bag she bought.  She coerced him 9in to eating it by putting Ready Whip on it.  He loves Ready Whip on anything.  Even on the sidewalk.  She found it was a good training tool.  She really likes to see him eat.  I don't, because he is a nice weight right now.
Sadly, the food he did not like but ate because it had whipped cream on it seems to have given him the runs this afternoon.  I hope the new food she got today sets well for him.  She gave the big bag of undesirable food to Shannon for her dog, Abby.  Abby eats anything.  Just hope she does not get the runs from it.  Deb warned her to watch for trouble.  Abby spends a lot of time alone through the day as Shannon works.  I am a little worried.  I told Debbie twice to call Purina and tell them about Boss's distaste and his runs.  They will not be surprised.
Well time for me to hit the sack or play a little solitaire not sure which.  Bye for now GBU all and GB Ukraine.
