6:58 caterpillar does not look good to eat BTW
Ride em Corgie is pretty neat. Thanks.
Update good to hear all good news. Quite a variety in bear behavior.  Good we have Doc to monitor for us.  Else how would we know?  I keep telling friends and relatives to Google into Bear.org cams, but don't see any new names in chat.
Saw a lot of turkeys on Snow, and some still there.
Well happy Monday EV1 CUL GB

Caterpillar ...   38:23    It's supposed to be 91° today, but is 83° right now.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your little racoon, Cal.  I know, it's never easy to lose any of them.

That is a cute Corgi that you posted.  I'd love to have one.  It is hard to imagine them as Herding dogs, they are so small.

Tasha At Work, Memories of Den Construction - UPDATE October 25, 2021
A few days ago, "Taught" captured video of Tasha hard at work gathering bedding for her den at night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BweEHoo2IuM. Great video.

Jewel deep in the den
Jewel deep in the den
Jewel with her one twig
Jewel with her one twig
That brought back memories of the ingenuity bears have shown in both the kinds of dens they use and the kinds of bedding in those dens, but somehow they find ways get through cold Minnesota winters. The dens varied from burrows to rock crevices, hollow trees, spaces in slash piles, and dens out in the open. Most of the latter were next to wind breaks such as the root masses of fallen trees. To make insulating beds, they usually raked leaves, grass, moss, and other ground vegetation into the dens and arranged it to their liking. When those materials could not be found, they bit small branches off trees, stripped bark off cedar trees, or chewed rotten wood into chips as we saw Lily do.

On July 12, 2004, June Bear also showed ingenuity when she was faced with a heavy (68-pound) rock that blocked her efforts to enlarge a den for the birth of her first litter (Pete and George). Instead of futilely struggling with it, she made changes to the den’s steep entryway. She let the rock be while she dug and dug, reducing the incline. Then she gave the entryway a final smoothing before entering the den and rolling the rock out. To me, that showed forethought and ingenuity.

The biggest, deepest winter bear bed I ever saw was in the middle of an alder swamp where there was enough grass for the bed of a lifetime. On the other hand, bears that made burrows in sandy soil seldom raked bedding into them like we saw with Jewel’s dens in 2012 and 2013—something I don’t quite understand.

One way or another, black bears will find ways to make something suitable.

Thank you for all you do.

6:57 mini race. I see those catch on fire sometimes.
Rainy and cold here to start. Need to go out to Aldis after rain stops.  They have red grapes for 99 cents a pound.  That is really low.  I wonder why so cheep.  Probably got seeds.
Also need milk.  My drugmart always out of milk lately.  Also a lot of shelves are empty while the aisles are blocked with piles of boxes.  Which BTW they would not give me when I needed them.
Feeling ok, but runny nose and slight stiff neck this morning.  Think it is from flu shot, and don't mind at all.  Shows it is working.
Bears are down for the winter except our Ted.  He is still up mostly.
Beautiful sunrise on GSB Falcon Cam this morning.  They have a good camera operator there.  Often panning the river and the area.  Very nice.
Not much on Snow this morning.  Only a few black squirrels.
Well time to get garbage cans in.  So cul ev1 GB

  Mini Coopers ...    22:35

Hi everyone!  Kelly, at your store sounds like a sweet lady.  It is nice when you deal with people like that, isn't it?

About three days ago, I went over to my Fry's Grocery Store for the first time since this whole Covid thing started.  Fry's is a part of the Kroger chain.  I went there, to the Pharmacy to get my flu shot and the first of the two Shingles shots.  Wow!  Usually shots don't bother me, but that Shingles shot got my attention, alright.  For a couple of days, Tylenol and a couple of serious naps got me through it.  I am glad to have the shot, and there is one more Shingles shot to look forward to.

Bella is going to be a good driver, I think.  She is good at anything she does, because she pays attention to detail.  She really wants to drive, and will get to drive her mother's car until she can get her own.  Michelle often drives my car, and I do not drive anymore.  It's an old Toyota Camry, but still in good shape.

Hi ev1, Got two big bags of red grapes.  Delicious and no seeds.  I washed them all off.  Then plucked them and froze them in tupper ware type stuff.  I like to put a few in my cereal each morning, and now I have enough for a couple months.  May get some more tomorrow. Will also need more containers.  Aldi is a low cost store. I got a lot of grapes, some peanut butter and some milk for $8.  I was happy.
Never get out of Drugmart for less than $20, even though I try each time. LOL  The thing about going over $20 means squeaking out not just one, but two $20 bills.  So I use credit card instead.
Bella is lovely Neva. Thanks for sharing.  You are obviously proud of her.
Well see you all tomorrow.  GB
