Good morning everyone- can you believe it??  56 degrees here already. And a beautiful full moon or close to it in the west sky. What a start to the day which is Tuesday. Without a normal routine it's hard to keep up with which day of the week it is.

cal- in the picture the green building is Spitty and Shadow's house. It is also known as the summer house or summer kitchen. Over the years it has been used as a lot of things but right now it is a cat lodging and my gardening stuff is in there. It really needs to be torn down and rebuilt but is not on hubby's priority list. It also is one of the original buildings on the farm and so hubby has a sentimental attachment to it. Sigh. The red building is one of many storage sheds for hubby stuff.

I guess I can only attach one picture at a time. I thought it was 3 but it must have changed. Either that or I am just tech challenged once again. lol I wish I could post my pictures like Dr. Rogers. His are awesome.

I had a surprise waiting for me yesterday afternoon. I was listening to podcasts with the headphones or talking on the phone and hubby was in the basement making all sorts of noise. I happened to walk outside and a pot of pansies was on the table by the backdoor. No note but I suspect it was a neighbor who brightened my day. One thing  learned when I moved to Iowa was that to classify as a neighbor you only had to live within a 5 mile or so radius.

I hope to do stuff outside today- maybe rain later. Yesterday I cleaned and vacuumed. Not my favorite.
Have a great day jewelies!

Good morning everyone- 48 here this morning and it looks to be clear. We had a bit of hail last night- don't know what time- I was already in bed.I went outside before 7 and worked until 11:30 when I came in for lunch. digging and potting plants- cleaning a container and put it away. I put some plants in north of the house along the road. So hard to plant- lots of dried grass and ground is clayey and still have lots of roots from when there were grapes vines all over. My body complained about uneven ground and hard digging so I think i'll quit doing stuff there.

However, I woke up to 3 big buckets of ditch lilies on my back porch. My sil was talking about taking them out at her house and I said i'd take them. But I thought there weren't that many- yeesh! I may put them along the edge of the field along the road south or our house. It is level and that is where they burned last week so I won't have to fight dead grasses, etc.  It looks from the forecast that I should do that this morning because it is going to rain and then get cold for a week- cold front coming through today. Getting light out and it is foggy here.

We are still staying home- I don't like to talk on the phone usually but have been keeping in touch with friends periodically. Today is my friend Lucy's birthday and we usually go out to eat. I sent a card ladt week and i'll call today to catch up with her. We'll go out later whenever ykw is bye-bye.

Time for breakfast- be safe out there cal. I did find some dust masks to use when we go out.

Have a great day jewelies!

I?ve missed a lot the last couple days with my email, internet, and furnace on the fritz and my cell phone not working after I dropped it in a puddle. All are working again.20200408 Raccoon

Lucky and Holly are back to their old ways of enjoying each other?s company with play and closeness. Good to see. Tasha brought back good memories of walking with bears and learning about a favorite food that I would never have suspected from examining scats. Came spring, and the sap was running in the maples and bears were demonstrating that people are not the only critters that like maple syrup. Tasha knew what to do when she found that treat in the enclosure. Pooch captured the action in this 2?-minute video of Tasha at a red maple. Tasha Snacking at an NABC Tree ~ 4/5/2020

Out the window, the Eyes of the Night preserved a searching look from a raccoon while the rest of the world slept. By day, the gull named 6 O?clock struck a dramatic pose while his mate watched with what I would think would be admiration. At least that is what I felt when I saw it.Tasha licking sap

At this moment a snow squall is trying to undo the melting of the last few days, but any success with that will be brief at this time of year. I look forward to seeing the view in the morning.

Thank you for all you do.

good morning everyone- I haven't been out yet because the cats are sleeping in but it is clear. Sunny and cool today. The highs for the next nine days will be in the fortys. It was A great two days these last two. I was out for a total of five or six hours yesterday. got all the ditch lilies taken care of. It was hard work. I used the pickup and could drive all my stuff where I needed it. And even though the dead stuff had been burned off it was still hard digging- many roots. After that I dug up a hosta and potted starts, moved a moonbeam coreopsis and dug up and potted some mums.

Just saw forecast  20- 40 mph winds and rain/snow mix this afternoon. Hmmm. So glad I got so many projects done so far this spring. Sure was tired last night.

The update photos were great- the wings on that gull are impressive. And I would have never guessed bears would find and lick up maple syrup in the spring. My neighbor to the south and his friend tap trees and make syrup every year. He brought me a bottle a couple weeks ago. It must have been after social distancing began because I was outside and started toward him to take it. He said no- I washed everything real good. He is an airline pilot and comes in contact with a lot of people. I keep forgetting how old I am and that i'm in the  elderly category now. lol
cal- you need an anchor when you go out in the wind. I don't think it got to 80 here but I was out in shorts and a cotton turtleneck.
Today is a trip to the hospital with my sil to get her PIC bandage changed. Funny how that has become our only outing for the week.
Have agreat day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! Got a lot of things done outside while we were having summer temps! Now we are experiencing late winter temps! Low 50's today and tomorrow and low 30's with frost tonight and tomorrow night. Mountains may get some snow. I knew Mother Nature would trick us! Tuesday,  while summer was visiting in the 80's, we trimmed 4 feet off the top of the forsythia. I warned it that if it didn't bloom this spring I would drastically cut it back! There's still 4 ft left. I may trim more of it back if the mood strikes me! I know the sparrows aren't happy with me because they like to hang out in that bush. But the quince bush is still huge so they have plenty of places to hide.

Cal, my sis and I went to Walmart yesterday morning. I asked baby sis if she could make us masks and she said sure! She even delivered them to my house. So we wore pretty homemade calico material masks! They were pretty and functional but boy were they hot! I kept fogging up my glasses! Walmart was counting how many customers were entering and exiting. Inside there were very few shoppers. About 50-50 were wearing masks and others weren't. Neither of us had been shopping for a week so our buggies were full! We had trouble finding a place in her car to place all our bags! Today Crow and I went to Sam's. Their gas was $1.61! A penny more than yours! Can't believe those prices. Of course we hadn't driven any place so we didn't need any. I told Crow we needed to get a big tank and fill it up with the cheap gas! Yay, glad Smokie is doing well! Wish Crow had Jim's talent! He knows nothing about car repairs. Excellent update pics today! Who knew bears liked tree sap!  Thanks for the Queen's info! I know in real life Albert does die young at age 42. I don't know how old he was at the end of last season's show. Speaking of Daisy... I read an article about Daisy, Judy Cornwell. She turned 80 in February!

Lupe, last night around 2 am we had a round of severe weather that woke me up. Thunderstorms with high winds and hail. After they passed through I started hearing robins chirping. They did that for 2 hours! Finally I fell asleep. When I woke at 7, they weren't chirping any more. Have you ever heard of that before? Wonder why they did that? How lucky for you to get plants from your neighbors! Love your daffodils. My late varieties are blooming now. Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers. I say that about all my flowers! :) I don't remember my grandpa's drilling machine being that tall! But then I never saw it upright! Thanks for the pics! Hope your sil's trip today went well.

Ra, oh my gosh, a little bull! How sweet! Is someone looking for him? Hmm, without I pic, I can't figure out what flower you have. I have a white flower that blooms in spring called a star of Bethlehem. Wonder if that's what you have? Wilson and Tela are supposed to have their shots next Monday if it isn't cancelled again. Robin wants to cancel the visit until ykw is out of here for good since they say cats can get it. I think Wilson has spring fever! He runs through the house like a wild cat and flies through the doggy door leaving the flap flying! He loves his screened porch!

Jo, hope Joan is feeling better today.

Have a nice evening, Jewelies! Stay safe! :)

hi jewelies it is 25 but no wind 53 in the barn 3 raccoons soon they will be bringing their kids. i might have to buy more dry food for them. dr rogers sure dates alot! :)

hi rues! wow daisy is 80 hope she is doing well good she is still here. i know onslow is not. yes they said albert died at 42 in real life and i saw a picture of them both the real albert and victoria looks nothing like our tv ones. tv ones so nice looking. on the show jenna the queen said her character is 31 with 7 children! so it could be albert to go this season whenever it gets ready to show. she also said that this may be her last season as they will have the queen be older and cast someone else to play her.  :( she said she would like to keep playing her something about having to sit for hours for makeup to make her look older wish i had that problem and so they will most likely find someone else to play her. only had 3 seasons already getting old and a bunch of kids. i know rues i get hot with my mask on too. get to my car take that off! when i am driving with my sunglasses i take it off cause fogs up my glasses too. im feeling like really no end in sight with ykw. i am short on bird seed thought i had another bag so i will have to get out and get that

hi ra blacklist tonight! its friday right?
