Hi Jewelies! It was a chilly, cold, rainy day...53. Tonight some sheltered areas may have frost. Starting tomorrow a warm up is coming and by the weekend back to the 70's! I think today was the first time ever that I didn't April Fool anyone and no one fooled me either. :(

Cal, my sis and I went to Walmart this morning.  There's a lot of things I can't get at Sam's that I get at Walmart. There weren't very many  people there and everyone seems to be social distancing themselves. I got everything on my list. They are keeping the store well stocked now. I heard on the news today that hoarding has slowed down now because people have all they need!  The swans are beautiful! I hope that duck ducked, too!  I've never eaten a perogie lol! Robin asked me to pick up a bag for her! The only kind Sam's had was cheddar cheese with potato. She says they are really good. I think they sort a look like a ravioli. Glad you got to the little bird in time!  Hope Missy is doing better now.  Our Lowes and Home Depot are open. I'd like to go get mulch but I feel funny about doing that now since we are supposed to stay home unless it's to go to the grocery or drug store. I hate that ykw. >:(

Lupe, I recently received a Breck's catalogue so yesterday I ordered a bunch of daffodil bulbs! They will be delivered in the fall! Now I'll have to try and remember where to plant them. Seems every time I dig a hole I end up hitting a bulb! I'm thinking maybe I should take pics of the beds now so I'll know where to dig! Lol!  I've been stomping my mole runs, too! I think it's a loosing battle. I have one columbine plant. I don't know where it came from and I don't remember planting it! It is ugly. It's a pale faded pinkish thing! But it comes back every year so I leave it be! Lol!

Ra, bet you never thought you would have bull pies in your yard! Might be good fertilizer! I struggled with the lawn mower the first time I used it. Then Crow adjusted the speed on it that slowed it down. Now I have no problems. How lucky you are to find a naked lady in your back yard! Lol!

Have a nice evening! Stay safe.

hi rues! i know some stuff you just got to get at walmart. yes you are right bullpoop good fertilizer. we have a client that came to get some of pearls for that. not this time though ykw. over in kansas where sister lives works lots of ykw and now i just saw on the news going to start giving out tickets if you dont keep from socializing. pretty sad people cant think of others. missy said they are draining her lungs today that virus pneumonia she has is really bad too. catchy too. she may have lung damage from it. yes robin deal looks like ravioli.griz bark bark bark i would have to drive down to the city to get to lowes or home depot and then walk all that. will see if jim will go to menards early when he see his dad cause he does that checks on his dad if my mom was still here i would too. we are in for a cold snap tomorrow night i think or tonight maybe a wintery mix. that dr with the white house said too hotter weather will get rid of ykw. i hate hot weather but bring it on.

hi ra that is great on adopting dogs hope when ykw goes away they keep the dogs. ours is empty too i think maybe the big one kc might be almost all adopted out too.

well i better get to barky

Good morning everyone- it's 46 here and windy. Yesterday was a great day. I got a few things done outside in the afternoon. Naked ladies planted- ra- oh so funny- finding a naked lady in your yard-lol
The area is north of our house right along the road but just beyond the ditch. The county likes to clean out ditches periodically so planting anything right in the ditch is eventually doomed to be dug out and discarded. Many many years ago I planted a mix of wildflowers- mostly shasta daisies, black eyed susans and purple coneflowers. Over the years I've added some stuff from my gardens. Depending on the rains I have something blooming for several weeks. Every time someone goes by they can see the flowers and they bloom one after the other. White then yellow then purple. Now I also have along the road- tiger lilies. iris and naked ladies.
I still need to dig more columbine to get out there- maybe Saturday.

rues- I know what you mean about hitting bulbs; I have little flags to put in but they are red and are really obnoxious- so I think a picture is a good idea. I have a coreopsis to move and as soon as it is up a little i'll get it done.  I had one white crocus blooming- pretty sure I planted more than one- Hmm.

cal- I can see that contraption you were talking about. I think I've seen a blanket on the water like that somewhere. Hope Jim can get the stuff you need.

Taking my sil to the hospital for her bandage change today. It is really funny to think that I haven't left home since last Friday. Well maybe not so funny.

Yesterday I had 2 really pleasant surprises- my brother from Virginia called- they are fine. Yay!! And I got a hand written note from my spin/ senior strength teacher in the mail. She is a very special woman and is doing fine and enjoying spending time with her 2 boys- one is a college freshman and one a junior in high school.
Now i'm going to pay it forward with communication of my own.  Will you do the same?

Have a great day jewelies!

Cal, thanks for the video. Now I understand what you were talking about. I could listen to that guy talk all day long. Looks like he has made a bunch of owl nest boxes! Smokie will be good as new!

Lupe, bet your flowers along the road look so pretty! I love all the ones you mentioned. I talked to both my sisters today!

Frost warnings out again tonight. They called for it last night but it didn't happen. Hoping it doesn't tonight either!

Have a great evening! Stay safe.

Daily Updates
Ted, Tasha, and More - UPDATE April 2, 2020
02 April 2020
 Print Email
Pond Chat Mods are capturing nice pictures of Ted and Tasha in action?Ted with more and more snow-free areas for walking, and Tasha up the bears? favorite climbing tree?a white pine, as in the wild. Black bears know what they like.

Out the window, a young bald eagle that was probably born last year or the year before landed close enough for a picture on this 52-degree day. Several flew over. In one case, 6 O?clock and his mate (herring gulls) were here for bologna and then 6 O?clock was high in the sky dive-bombing a passing eagle.Bald eagle juvenile

In the yard, a doe that is showing her pregnancy rested on alert. Her big fawn from last year was 10 feet away doing the same. Several does were licking their fawns? faces today with the fawns holding still for it. The peak of birthing is two months from now?usually said to be June first?when mothers shift their attention to the newborns.Doe resting

When we see as much bare ground as we are seeing now, we know spring is almost here. Walking is still tough in the woods with the crust being strong enough to hold a person in early morning but weak enough to break through by afternoon. The snow is now a little less than knee deep in the shade. Gone in the sunniest spots.

Thank you for all you do.

hi jewelies! it is 34 here feels like 27 56 in the barn one raccoon Ted and tasha looking so good. funny 6 oclock dive bombing that is not nice 6. poor juvie hope it found something to eat there too. doe so pretty it was pretty nice there 52.

hi rues! well jim drove smokey back up his friend shane came and helped. i dont think they kept 6 ft apart shane road with jim in the gator to get pearls hay and poop buckets i was in the barn and came out shane was pretty far from me i said hi thanked him asked if his head was doing good he has a tumor in his brain cancer but been on chemo for along time it has shrank alot he looked good said he was good. then i got in smokey started it up and battery was still on. and then my brake light in red with a ! so i checked my brake fluid none poured some in and light went off but then back on got out jim came over and i told him it has leaked out. he called shane cause he left and he said they must of hit my flex line putting on that belt so now that has to be fixed for sure no brakes at all and hoping that alternator was not a bad one. i told jim fix the brakes then have oreilly test it make sure it is good shane told him how to test to see if my battery is charging. i hope it is something else causing that light to stay on. when that man did that video i notice too the owl nest box and all the lumber and stuff he had nice shop. i hope lots of people made that to save other animals.

hi ra! that was so funny queen version of ykw!  :) missy told me yesterday around 3 pm she was going home they did another xray of her lungs she was waiting for her oxygen she needs it still. she is done smoking she said done. she was gong to stay at her moms and dads last night in case something goes wrong she said she is exhausted now just walking a little ron had this same thing he is still trying to get over it and he too has oxygen now using a deal you can carry on yourself sounds like this stuff causes some lung damage. i thought jim said it was catchy but dee did not get it or duane rons friend farm helper and missy mom taking all precaution with ykw so must not be catchy but just as scary as ykw kinda all dogs baying good luck sleeping in there jim. boo boo was on the couch i was not expecting that this morning jim had to get up tell him to get back griz was ready to take him off but i got him out the door.

Good morning everyone- major sleep in this Friday. I was reading and didn't turn the light out until 10:30 and then I couldn't fall asleep.  One of those nights- got up and read some more.

It is cloudy here with rain on the way. Cold rain according to the weather person- front going through will drop temps during the day.
Yesterday I went to our greenhouse. I called and placed my order and they put it outside- I left a check in the money box. No human contact. I decided I wanted to divide more plants and since I probably shouldn't  encourage contact to distribute I need to keep them for a long time. So I will pot them up. I have lots of pots.

Our trip to the city to get the bandage changed on my sil's PIC line was uneventful. Very little traffic so even though there is no "Shelter in place" order here people seem to be staying home. She continues to do well- she has decided to sit in the back seat for "social distancing". Seems really funny but we are both healthy and want to remain so. Luckily we can still talk at that distance. lol

Time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Daily Updates
White Again - UPDATE April 3, 2020
03 April 2020
 Print Email
The day began with Ted sitting on bare ground and the woodchuck eating its broccoli without a thought of snow. A flock of migrating dark-eyed juncos landed?the first I?d seen of them this year. Then the snow started. Outside the window by my desk, Stripe was patiently waiting covered with white. I think some snow fell off the roof on her. She disappeared for a couple minutes and came back looking almost like her usual self. A red squirrel was doing its best to find sunflower seeds buried under the snow during the worst of the snowfall. When the snow ended, goldfinches stopped by to show me how they were progressing in their switch from brown winter feathers to summer yellow with a black crown.
