Good morning everyone- for some reason I couldn't get to sleep last night- a rues night. I started thinking about my senior strength class being cancelled and then my walking buddy cancelled. Her granddaughter was there for the weekend and will go home Monday but didn't want to get up early. She's a teen so I understand. Then I got recycling ready. Have the car loaded with my sil's too. So I read a little until I got sleepy again.

Yesterday was a lazy day. I kept checking on our Ted- he is getting more active. I wish he'd get that big bowl out of there. Where did it come from- was it one on the left side of his chalet?

johoward- so glad joan is doing better and you are so smart to just stay home. Plenty of time to go for rides later. Your lunch sounds really good- sardines are so good for you.  We watch tv and I listen to podcasts on the computer, watch bird nests and do solitaire games. And I will sit in the back porch and read when it gets warm enough.
ra- we are enjoying our new well. Water straight from the tap is so good. I had to turn the faucets down in the shower from where I've usually set them. Just about blew me right out of the shower the first time.

Have a great day jewelies!

hi ra you really working on the yard hope you did not hurt your back. i went to walmart real early sat and got two huge bags of dry dog food they were on the second top shelf so i could just drag them out and lay them sideways at the end of my cart. one in richmond excelsior if they have them on the bottom shelf and i cant pick them up and do that. so got the last two then got griz special dry dog food laid it on top of them then got a big bag kitten chow laid that up there too. got a case of can dog food laid it up there too. got two 40 cans boxes of can cat food in the cart three 25 lb fresh step cat litter in the front of the cart where kids can sit and milk etc bird seed i was worn out pushing that cart had to make wide turns. leaving someone helped me get my cart over the threshold. then i loaded it all up came home unloaded it all.  there was no tp paper towels at all there. i got some paper plates . wow chromebooks for all pretty cool on our tv at the bottom all the schools closed senior centers libraries etc. all closed. i went to walmart when they opened and still some shoppers there not many i saw lots of worker getting stuff for online shoppers i could do that but then can get what i want. i googled your gurgling may be the drain i sent you something on it.  i hope this stuff does not last for months like they said could hope only weeks but they talked about the black plague kills millions and tb and not not so long ago the flu killed many. they say we should stay in us jewelies our age group i hope i got enough stuff for awhile jim still going to work so i try to wipe down everything he touches his sister got the regular flu and i dont want that either respirtory one which is better than the stomach one but still dont want it either.

hi joho! i saw lots of people may have ykw in ohio. happy to hear you guys are okay and joan doing so well! :) i would hope her doctors are pleased too and will continue to give her the medicine.  i am going to try to work in the basement clean up stuff throw stuff away in between my other chores at least i do not have to go to walmart and griz can bark jim is gone. its not just him penny and brownie whine when i am not right where they can see me.

hi lupe! it is snowing  at teds place i think that big bowl is the one that was on his ramp and he pulled it in but i am with you when they feed them come back and get his bowl when pearl is done with hers i take it back out so she will not step in it and maybe trip or something. they need to shovel off his ramp too. looks like lots of rain here this week.  :( i better work downstairs cause them i will be working on flooding in the barn alot. i am never bored here. dont even know what bored means really. if i have trouble sleeping cause after all day i sure do like to sleep i take a swig of my equate cough syrup says 10% alcohol and lay down to watch tv boom sleeping.

hi again- cal- I was exhausted after reading about your grocery haul. I took our stuff to recycle, got gas for $2.08 at Casey's. Wow. Then I took my Casey's cup inside to get a coffee refill- I like their Columbian blend- and I was met at the door by an employee who said I couldn't bring in my cup for a refill. Huh? ykw- strikes again- So much talk  and rumor that I only listen to CNN and national news.

So after it got light out this morning I made an amazing discovery. Yesterday afternoon there were some new mole tunnels just south of the house so I put bubble gum and juicy fruit in them. Well- this morning every place I put the gum was dug up and looked way worse than the mole tunnels to begin with! lol  We are thinking the resident racoon had a party and today is blowing bubbles out his butt. (Sorry for the crudeness.) Racoons like gum!! Who knew? If I had a plan B i'd go with it. Back to the drawing board.

Cloudy here but not real cold and no wind so i'm headed out to trim bushes and some branches off an evergreen in the barn garden.

Daily Updates
Ted's Foray, Fundraiser Postponed and Wildlife - UPDATE March 16, 2020
16 March 2020
 Print Email
Pooch Pal captured these ~5 minutes of Ted?s foray outside yesterday. I can?t remember seeing a bear eat balsam fir before, but Ted proved it can happen. I can only guess why he did. See what you think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x06GZRtn0QRed squirrel

I got a message today from Sarah Zirbes that the gathering planned for Mystic Lake Casino on May 15 has been postponed due to Coronavirus. Mystic Lake is limiting gatherings at this time. Here are Sarah?s words.

Crow

?Can you mention in your update tonight that the fundraiser at Mystic Lake has been postponed? Please tell our bear friends to keep an eye on the official Event page on Facebook for any updates. I am hoping we reschedule for sometime in the Fall but we?ll have to see how the pandemic plays out and then rely on Mystic Lake for open dates. Anyone who has paid can send me a direct message on Facebook and ask for a refund or I?ll hold their money until the event is rescheduled and will apply it then. The Facebook Event Page is located at: https://www.facebook.com/events/187617132612991

We can only wait to see what happens.

Meanwhile, here at the WRI it was as if Coronavirus never happened. Crows and Red Squirrels are here eating, and the neighbor called this afternoon to say the buck that lost a fork horn still has the other one. He said that sometimes they lose both antlers at once, and sometimes it?s a few days between. There are still no cases in the north half of Minnesota.

Thank you for all you do.

Hi Jewelies! it is 36 here and no raining no stars or moon so hoping it does not rain again today. dont rain on the parade course no parade today cause of ykw. ykw making a mess of stuff. no meeting at mystic lake but happy it has not shown up by dr rogers. not shown up in the country here either knock on wood. oh griz so nice to see crow in the update! :) squirrel is beautiful and of course so is ted. looks like someone shoveled off his ramp and got his pan out. looks like ted is getting around pretty good too!

Hi Lupe! i was sweating in the store pushing that cart. now jim ate all the chips but i am not going to the store for more. he can. i hope the raccoons did not have a problem getting rid of that gum. mine always take a cookie put in the water bowl to soften it up and then drink afterwards they have a small throat. i use to throw cookies crumbled out for the birds and mice when i go out at 6pm for last time well raccoons come shortly after and they dig up the hay on the ground and the ground getting every crumb makes a mess so i quit doing that. i just give them a whole cookie when i see them like this morning one for you one for you one for you and you guys have pans of dog food. next time you have duke take him by the tunnels the smell of him might send them elsewhere.

i gotta go griz and all time for them to eat

Good morning everyone- 30 here and a really nice day is forecast. I plan to get out and get started on 2 projects this morning. We have a small area hubby put bricks in by the back porch and over the years it has become very uneven. I need to get those bricks out and level the dirt under there then replace the bricks. Not hard but time consuming maybe. Also need to remove all the dirt from a container in the barn garden. I don't think i'll plant it this year. I can sit in a lawn chair to do that.

Yesterday I got the rest of my bushes pruned back and all the trimmings loaded into the pickup. Then I loaded all the twigs that i'd been putting in piles here and there all winter. Then I loaded the grasses pile i'd done too. The pickup was full. Hubby will dump for me. He replaced the 3 sections of sidewalk yesterday. Really huge chunks of cement. Guess i'll need to level that small area and replace the landscape fabric and move the planter back. Put it on the list.

Happy St. Patrick's Day- our Second Street Sweets in town is staying open for take out only. They can only seat 18 anyway. They are having corned beef and cabbage so i'm calling an order in. Yum!!!

Thanks Nora for your greeting. Maybe I need Chester here to chase away the racoons.

Is it time for Ted to start eating again- thus the fir nibble. Seems early to me. So glad the virus isn't in northern Minnesota. It is in the next county over from us. Yikes!

Have a great day jewelies!

" Maybe I need Chester here to chase away the racoons."  Lupe, he'd probably befriend them like he does the rabbits and could care less  about squirrels no matter where they are.  ;)

I was reading the deal by the governor of Iowa and places that have refill cups aren't going to have them while this deal is on, which is going until at least April 16th.  Seems funny going past a couple of the bars today and not a line of cars parked out there.

HAPPY ST. PADDY'S DAY, JEWELIES !!

Nora... Thank you for Chester's greeting... you and Joe, too!   ;)  Cal... Thanks for yours, too.

Our state has just passed the law to close all inside eating and drinking at restaurants.  Just drive in, and delivery allowed.  Suits me fine... that's how I usually eat out anyway.  lol  Clemson grand has a birthday next Tuesday, so no eating out.  Her boyfriend will be in town this weekend, so I think the plan is to celebrate on Saturday... pick up food and bring it here.  I don't have to work tomorrow... the lady is self isolating.

I have a new plan for fixing my glugging toilet.  I've decided I probably don't have a toilet clog, it flushes fine, just glugs, so it can't have a clog, right?  Cal has been sending me info and I think we have decided that I need to check to see if the vent pipe is clogged.  That stupid plumber told me I had a major clog... if so, why are all my drains working fine??  I'm hoping I can fix the vent pipe (if that's what's wrong), so I can call him and try to make him feel as stupid as he tried to make me.

I'm getting very tired hearing about ykw.  My county doesn't have any positive tests either.  I think it's so funny that places like Walmart are telling people not to buy so much!  lol  My daughter's school is handing out meals for the kids at the school.  Some of the kids don't have internet service at home for the e-school classes, so Spectrum is offering free internet service to those kids.  Also, my daughter said the school buses have wifi in them, so they're going to park them around the county for those who need it.  I thought that was pretty cool.

I hope everyone has a nice "green" evening!  Hi everyone!!

cal... They just said on the news that the Derby is being postponed until September.  No word on the Preakness or Belmont yet...  I was thinking about the Derby yesterday and was wondering if it would have to be changed like so many other events.
