Good morning everyone- WOW!!! cal- that post made me cry with happiness. I know your enthusiasm for the team led me to watch more football this year than I ever did. I always checked the schedule to see when the Chiefs were playing. Then I really got hooked on the whole team- Mahomes led the way. Ty Ty Ty!!!!!

Yesterday was a morning filled with errands for others- some success and some epic failures. Lots of phone calls and visits and I was late for lunch! Ended up hubby had to make his own. lol Sil still doing good- asparagus was on sale this week in our local grocery- $1.99 a pound. We had gotten some on Thursday but she wanted more. So I got the last bunch yesterday for her.

Earlier- we tried to find some items my bil and sil (who are together now in the nursing home) wanted from their house. Kind of a fail- but we visited a bit- got his car into the parking lot- he was cleared to drive by his doctor last Thursday.

We also got our cars washed- lots of salt grime- I washed under the car twice. Poor bertha- but she is shiny now. It is 20 out now and may hit 40 today. Don't know what our plans are yet.

Have a great day jewelies!

We had 32 yesterday.  Have been having real fine snow coming down, nothing to write home about.  Right now it's 25 and feels like 18, SO much better than that below 0 stuff.

I know this is from the DNR, but VERY interesting............

It sounds like you've really had your hands full lately Lupe.

It'll be fun if we get to see a bunch of new cubs this spring.

Family Fun, Deer, Mink - UPDATE February 16, 2020
16 February 2020

Having fun with family, including the four grandkids. 20200216 Deer fork horn
Deer with fork horns
Then a dash to the WRI to feed the wildlife before church where the nine of us took almost a whole pew. Along the way, a deer at the window showed that he had his fork horns this late, and Streak the Mink showed how pretty her fur is in the sun as she grabbed bologna and dashed back to her hole in the snow. I didn?t see any minks when it was really cold, like minus 30 and minus 27 on the way to the WRI in early morning. Now she is back to hoarding bologna again.

hi nora yes nora very interesting that dr rogers had asked over and over to do that bear cam and told no.  >:( if no to dr rogers then no to them too just leave the bears alone dnr hard to be for them since they encouraged killing bear during hunting season leaving so many orphans cubs like quill what is sportman or good about that?   dr rogers tries to pick up the pieces and help them orphans.

Good morning everyone- 30 here and rain on the way. Farther north in Decorah it will be snow. I'm hoping the rain washes all the salt off the roads but of course our gravel will get muddy. Bertha is clean and waiting for her next layer of mud, snow- whatever.

cal- so glad for sweets; i'm really interested in the fecal test. He really shouldn't have intestinal parasites since he's an "indoor." critter. Don't remember if parasites go inter species or not.

nora- ty for the article- it was interesting. you are probably going to get snow today. At least Chester will like it. Do you have to walk him on a leash or does he stick around when he has to go out?

I so enjoy the photos in the updates. I got to say though that mouth on streak looks vicious. Wow! Glad he has bologna to eat.
Almost hatch time at NE Florida nest. This morning was a really noisy switchover. Wonder what they were talking about. Yesterday we went out for an early lunch and saw many eagles and hawks. Mostly just perching- probably 15 or so. Nice sunny day with no wind. Got home in time to watch Iowa beat Minnesota- but just barely.
time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! I awoke this morning at 7am to sunshine and bird song! The robins and the mourning doves must think spring is here! I only wish that were so but I'm sure Mother Nature will surprise us all. Rain comes back tonight but temps stay near 50.

Cal, how exciting for your niece to be going to Key West! I'd love to go there, too! It will be so cool for you to screen shot her at Mallory square! Crow saw Robin crossing Abbey Road live on their cam but he didn't get a pic of it. Luckily, Letty took this one...

I was at Walmart and missed it!  Glad that Sweets doesn't have worms! You knew he didn't! You are a kinda vet with lots of experience! Glad he is doing better. Oh, dear, I just heard Crow screaming at the cable company recording! Our cable just went out again so he is trying to talk to a real person. Yep, he finally got a live one! I pity the person on the other end! Heard him say he didn't mean to take it out on him but this is getting ridiculous! He is now giving them our address so I guess another repairman will be coming. Did you see how shiny Streak's fur is? Must be all that baloney he eats!

I better go and calm Crow down before he has a stroke or something! Have a nice evening everyone!

hi jewelies it is 29 here with light snow. yesterday it was in the 60's mud everywhere anyone who does not think we have a serious global warming is a fool.

hi rues! i knew that robin when i saw that picture! how cool is that! cool crow got to see her too and i am not going to walmart friday when niece jeanne gets there! just say no to walmart. oh crow is just like jim. when my tv kept going out jim was on hold for an hour getting madder all the time and when a person came on you talk about yelling me and dogs went to my room. jim hung up on them called back the next morning not later in the day and took forever to get a real person then he was on the phone over and hour talking to this one that one finally got a manager that spoke english with no accent. wow. anyway got our upgrade at no charge and no contract that was tricky but got it in writing and so far no additional charges for upgrading just ten dollars more a month still high but got to have tv i do at night. all night while i sleep too. directv do not mess with a union rep they love to argue. hope you guys get it fixed well hope the crow gets it fix. what is the crowd in robins picture looking at? did robin see the queen or paul mccartney? is this when she saw harry potter?

hi ra are you having any luck with that new laptop? makes me dread getting one. maybe just hang on to my ipad but i hate it since i was so stupid to update it. wish i could take that back but i can still use it have my old one and its not updated so like it better now. griz been barking nonstop in the kitchen since i have been on here. oh here is the baying again third time griz penny brownie.

Good morning everyone- my but I slept in- just got up! Yesterday was a rainy, dreary day here. Rain in February is no fun. with the roads still frozen the top little bit just gets greasy. I did see 2 robins in our back yard yesterday so I guess spring is on the way. I fell asleep last night thinking about what flowers to put in my containers. Don't quite know where that came from.

rues- I also picked Robin out right away. Thought- wait- no Northern Lights tour here-lol! I feel bad for all the people getting so much rain- We are going to get a couple colder days like last week then warmer again. But no precipitation til next week.  The place where we had lunch on Sunday faces south. The wall is brick and there are plantings between the wall and the sidewalk. There were bunches of daffodils up about 2 inches. Fresh greenery!!  Imagine- so sweet.

Walking and class this morning- good to be back in my old patterns.
Have a great day jewelies!

Daily Updates
Mink, Snow, and Sun - UPDATE February 18, 2020
18 February 2020
 Print Email
Mink cause the most excitement at this time of year. Today it was two of them!. Streak was here a couple times and then it was Stripe in 3 inches of new fluffy snow. Mink Stripe
Mink Stripe
Stripe wasn?t using the old patterns of travel, though?maybe because she knew Streak was around and minks are mostly solitary. She ducked down her usual snow hole and stashed a piece of bologna and immediately came up for more. I wasn?t ready yet, and she went down and retrieved the bologna from the snow hole and showed me another hideaway?a new entry below a short boardwalk we put in last spring. From under the boardwalk, she would have access to the open area under the bay windows that stick out from the living room. This evening, it was just Stripe and she was her usual trusting self?my favorite.

A chickadee that came for sunflower seeds did not land and flounder in the light snow. It picked a vertical twig to survey the landscape before landing on the seeds.

This afternoon, the sun came out and made a red squirrel and a white-breasted nuthatch look extra nice for a couple clicks from my desk that I couldn?t help.
