Good morning everyone- 16 here and frosty but both cats ready to eat. I have a little rug to wipe our feet on by the door and they were snuggled together on it. Yesterday was a cloudy, misty, rainy day. We decided to just stay home instead of going out to lunch. We also need to exchange a room humidifier that hubby got for sil in her new place at the home. She's getting nose bleeds from the dry air. hope third time is a charm.
Our days continue to get complicated and very full with communication very important. We had almost decided to have our Valentine's Day dinner today then I noticed we have a fund raiser supper tonight at the Pizza Ranch. Sigh' It is for our local Senior Dining Site and I really want to support them. They provide a wonderful meal to so many who probably wouldn't have a balanced meal or social time.
cal- I hope you get the barn furnace working right. We still have a few weeks of cold weather yet. hopefully no more ice.  Dentist is on Friday at noon I think. sil and bil have multiple appointments before that.

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! The 4 inches of snow, that came Friday morning, hung around until yesterday afternoon. Then it started raining and hasn't stopped. A couple years ago the city cleared a hill in one of our city parks of all the trees to make a nice place for kids to sleigh ride. They even installed lights along the perimeter for night sled riding. With school canceled Friday, I'm betting there were lots of kids and parents taking advantage of that hill! Because of the snow drought last year the hill was never used.

Cal, glad you figured out the barn's furnace problem! One time our old ac unit quit cooling because it was full of cat hair! We like our new high efficiency furnace! The house is warm and so far our gas bill hasn't been bad. Robin hasn't mentioned her dryer yet! I don't know if she has even used it yet! Crow cancelled the appointment to get his teeth pulled! He decided it was too expensive. Now he is rethinking that and going to call the dentist ofc again!  Our cable is out again! This time, supposedly, it is not our  line but the entire area is out. Getting really sick of this cable company.

Lupe, lots going on for you guys. Seems like everything always happens at once! Hope everything turns out ok.   I noticed something very strange here yesterday. The snow hadn't completely melted yet. Plenty of birds, mostly sparrows and a couple pigeons, were at my feeders. I noticed there were about 10 robins in the neighbor's tree. One by one they started to fly down to my holly tree that is loaded with red berries. As they approached the tree a single mockingbird would fly out of my grape arbor and chase the robins away! This went on for several minutes until the robins gave up and flew away! Guessing the mockingbird wanted the berries to itself!

Ra, glad the grand was ok! Scary when your kid or grandkid is in a wreck! I can understand your grand not liking to drive...I don't like to either, especially on snowy roads! Hope Cujo found his way home! Your house must seem like a safe place to animals!

Have a nice afternoon!

hi rues! that mocking bird is a selfish bird seems a gang of robins could at least get a few berries. you may have to pick berries and throw around your yard. crow needs to get them teeth fix that is so important bite the bullet and spend the money. got to fix those! i would be mad at my cable company too! got to have tv even if background noise my dogs need it sure your boo does too and you guys! i get aggravated with ours miss the old days of just having regular free tv put up and antenna no digital stuff. but our old house got hit by lightning two times from that antenna. i hear coyotees howling right in the front by my office here! close real close my poor rabbits hope they are safe boo boo in the living room cant open the front door to run them off.

Good morning everyone-  cal- poor sweets- want me to come hold his hand? or hoof? I hope dr. lehr can come out right away.
rues- I can't believe that mockingbird; hubby says it is probably bigger than the robins. I haven't seen one here. Nature can be tough but someone needs to teach that bird how to share.  Envying your holly tree!!
johoward- so great to see joan out and about. That cam isn't one I have watched- will have to tune in. I've been watching the albatross can in New Zealand. They are super amazing birds. They been there so long they don't mind when the humans come to weigh and check the baby. So sweet looking. They are ground nesters and I've noticed that ne time they sprayed something from a bottle in the grass around the nest. There isn't a chat which is a real shame because I have lots of questions. Eventually I guess i'll just look them up.

Got to go feed the cats and me- have a great day jewelies!

hi you guys well jim came home at noon and he went to get sweets horns so i could put his halter on check his temp and sweets wore him out but he got him i took it felt bad doing that to him his temp was 100.0 called lehr office at 8 she said would have dr chaffer called he never did i googled sweets temp it said below 102.0 goat is gravely ill! said heat them up blankets bring in house with furnace well he has one he got yesterday when the furnace was messed up blowing out cold air cause heat coils filthy. he was shivering so i fixed the furnace turned on heat lamps while doing that.  then turned them off turned up heat to 49 so i went out and turned on those heat lights and furnace up to 52. the heat lamps right over his bed constant heat furnace kicks on and off.  birds love pearls heat lights sit on the duct by them. it said to feed him long hay i cut open a bale of alfalfa from thads field that he brought here and stacked it for us. sweets was eating it gave some to pearl she loved it guess she was sick of feed store premium chopped up alfalfa hay. so then we went back out and sweets did better jim was holding him i took his temp and it was 101.0! could tell he was better too. so i left the heat lights on and furnace is at 52 although heat lamp raised the temp to 54. i will go check again i see nothing to over heat by them see how is he tomorrow take his temp when jim gets home tomorrow. we are under winter advisory starting at 6 am snow maybe sleet tomorrow then will get down to 4 up to ten so i hope he is all better then turn off heat lights leave furnace at 52 i should buy some more heat lights.

hi rues did you guys get your cable back on?

cal, I'm so glad to hear Sweets is doing better!  I hope he keeps getting better and better by the minute till all is well again.   :-* :-*  You make a great vet.

I usually post in the Beak Room, and the Cheers threads, and in JP's Puzzles thread, on the Decorah Lounge board in Forum.  But I always enjoy keeping up with what's going on with everyone here in "Jewels" thread, and of course with all the bears and other critters in Ely.   :)  :-*

Waving to All the Jewelies!  :)  Take care, and good wishes to you all for a restful evening.

Good morning everyone- cal- sending a hug and positive vibes your way. Hope the vet can come out today- poor sweets. Snow predicted here later today and overnight. Then 2 days of cold then warmer by the weekend.  Ordinarily I would love that forecast but between hubby, bil and sil we have 5 appointments on Thursday and Friday. Dress warm. drive cautiously and hope for the best. Hubby is having a tooth pulled by oral surgeon. This appointment was cancelled last month due to ice and bil taken to hospital. And-- I had a chance to have duke here this week but had to decline because I wouldn't be home much. I miss him.

Going to drop stuff off at Goodwill for sil and me then head to the grocery to find some yummy steaksfor our Valentine's dinner. We had planned on going out but decided to buy some good cuts and cook in the woodstove. Much cheaper that way. Maybe he'll be able to eat steak by sunday.

I finally put my snowmen away yesterday- they make me smile like the dog shame cal posts every morning. Time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

hi lupe...i went to walmart got the wormer stopped at mcdonalds and got him a biscuit. came home went to straight to the barn still stuff in the car he got up looked more alert blowing out his nose still sounds congested he poop alot more not runny but not pellets like either like one long poop but you can see pellet pattern in it looks more like dog poop. i put the wormer in a biscuit first just gave him plain biscuit he ate that up but no to the biscuit wormer put some in an oatmeal cookie broke it in half put the wormer in he ate top half no more. so i left it in his bed came in here hoping he eats that biscuit.if his nose is stopped up dont know how can smell medicine in that food.  he came when i had rose that was 8 years ago so he is 8.  he was very young when he showed up in roses stall. i hope jim gets to talk to someone when he gets home take his temp sweets not jim and i am going to give him some antibiotics and if he did not eat his biscuit then shoot that paste wormer in his mouth.  maybe the vet will have something jim can go by and pick up. i am sorry you had to pass on duke i know that hurts you you love that boy and that boy loves you too. hopefully all good news for your family and you will get duke real soon. gotta let barking griz back in unload groceries from my car back to the barn. it will be so cold here tonight they said black ice in the morning good sister is off today and tomorrow and home. you guys be careful good luck to hubby and crow. if hubby cant eat steak you can make him pudding and like lawrence ordering that you can call him puddin.
