My Robin is on the left and the other Robin is on the right in the pic above. Don't know who that is in the middle! Here's a pic I thought you would like Cal. I think this was taken at the Santa village...

and one more of my Robin floating. I think they are crazy!

Daily Updates
A Face in the Window - UPDATE January 24, 2020
24 January 2020
 Print Email
Suddenly, there was a face in the window. Then it turned to show me it is Streak or maybe say ?I?m hungry?Mink Streak
Mink Streak 1-24-20
or ?I have a broken lower left canine.? Any visit like that stirs action?a race to grab bologna and look closely. It might be Stripe who stopped coming when Streak took over. But we?re always looking to see if it might be the real Clear.

A couple days ago, Elizabeth Wallace helped clear up some of my confusion about who is who by telling me that her ferret went through changes in its markings until it was three years old. Maybe Streak did the same. The picture of Streak?s lookalike was a year ago, so there was time for a coat-change. That would reduce the number of Clears to two?the real Clear and now Streak. I?m including pictures here of Stripe, Clear, Streak, and the Streak lookalike. See what you think. We?ll keep our eyes open.

Mink Streak or not?

Good morning everyone- well- it has been quite a week for us. We are fine but dealing with family health problems. Hubby's brother had surgery to put drains in his colon abscesses. CT scan before this showed more abscesses than originally observed. We went to see him yesterday afternoon. Plans have been made by his son and daughter to move both of them into assisted living/memory care. My sil(his wife) has memory problems and really does not want to move, We think her transition will happen today while I take her to lunch then I will take her to her new place. Not sure how I feel about that but we'll see.Her son and a bunch of helpers want to move beds, chairs and dressers after I take her to lunch. Hard times.
Then yesterday my sil- hubby's sister got her diagnosis of lymphoma. We were not surprised; she had a bout with cancer in 2007. This is different kind and her ENT doctor said the next step is visit the oncologist. That appt is on Wednesday.
Needless to say I haven't been watching all the tennis. I've had a few nights of little sleep but last night went to bed at nine. Told hubby i'd get up when I wake up. Had been setting the alarm- getting up at 2 or 3 AM. Only 3 Americans left in the singles- Alison Riske, Coco Gauff and Tenys Sandgren. So my list of must see matches has dwindled. I've decided that I just need to go there to really see this tournament.

rues- ty for the photos. wonderful!
cal- we have a bunch of snow too. Yesterday's snow was very heavy- but most of the ice has melted too- warm and in the 30's. They never did plow our gravel road yesterday. The county must have had a breakdown. Luckily we have an old 4-wheel drive with high clearance to get out. When I need to get out today hubby said he'd follow me out. I think bertha can make it- front wheel drive- exceptional driver(lol)!!
Time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Hi EV1,  Joan is doing a lot better. Got good reports from her three oncology doctors.  Finally got to see an RA doctor.  WOW!  Just 5mg of Prednisone makes a big BIG difference.  Sure hope it lasts.  She even can stand up and walk a little each day. Inflammation is awful.
Sleeping now, but not crying out as she has for months.
Before I forget I want to thank you all for posting.  I read and enjoy all the posts.  They let us share your experiences both good and bad.  I especially like the pics, puzzles, bad dogs, and cousin Janice stuff.  Don't you all?

It sounds like we all need a few prayers right now.  It has sure been a rough winter.

JP we are thinking of you again.  Peeking at Duvall St. daily. Hoping to see you coming down the walk, and waving at the camera like all the tourists do.

Bye for now Joan is stirring.  May need some help.  CUL  God bless.

Cal, glad Jim's dad is doing better. It's sounds like a good thing that he is rehabbing at the hospital. When my mom had to have her broken hip replaced we hoped she could go to the hospital's rehab center but they had no room for her.  Medicare said  her hospital time was up and she had to go somewhere. It was a scramble for us to find a good place that would take her and her Alzheimers.   I had to laugh at Ron asking Jim to take Dee home because she was driving him nuts! Lol! My sister is doing better and was able to drive us to Walmart Wed and Friday. Doctor thinks she was dizzy because she was dehydrated. She says she has no appetite and she is afraid she will hurt her intestines if she eats the wrong thing!  Robin's trip is almost over. Today they visited Estonia. Then back this evening to Helsinki. Robin flies out tomorrow  at 8am Finland time, 1 am Eastern time. She has a layover in England then on to Philadelphia and finally on to Columbus, OH. We pick her up at 5pm tomorrow afternoon. That's going to be one long day for her. Good thing she has Monday off to recoup! I'm all confused about which mink is which! They are all just as cute as can be! Thank cousin Janice for another good one! I saw the cutest video the other day. It was a cat sitting on top a Roomba as it was vacuuming the floor! Lol!

Lupe, so sorry about all the health problems in your family! Like I told Cal, when it rains, it pours. Bet it was hard for you to take your sil to  her new place. Hope it all went ok.

Jo, yay, Joan is doing better! That is wonderful!  :)

Have a nice evening! :)

Daily Updates
Daily Doubles - UPDATE January 25, 2020
25 January 2020
 Print Email
After not seeing a pileated woodpecker for many days, today there were two. First the female flew in. Pileated pair
Pileated pair
Then the male peeked out from behind a pile of snow and made his entrance. Then they peacefully shared the piece of suet?something I can?t remember seeing before. I?d say I definitely haven?t seen it, but I?m 80 and I?m afraid someone would remember that I did.

Then it was Stripe?back after a week of us thinking that Streak ran her out. Stripe was wary, though, looking around a lot and sniffing the snow in places where Streak had been. Then we saw what might have been the reason for the caution. Streak was coming down the driveway. Minks are basically solitary, and they don?t interact; but it was another daily double. With Stripe here, Streak did not come in close. He headed off for the brush pile but had some trouble in the soft new snow. To my surprise he disappeared down a hole in the snow and emerged 30 feet closer to the brush pile. I didn?t know they made long tunnels under the snow like that.

Stripe took her second piece of bologna up the driveway and then cut off to the left, having a hard time climbing the bank of snow from the snowplow. She moved a few feet over to a deer trail and disappeared into the woods still holding her head high carrying the bologna.

Then they were both gone.

The daily double for yesterday was the first pair of red squirrels I?ve seen mating this winter.

Thank you for all you do.
