Happy belated birthday Neva, just saw it was yesterday.

We'll be home on Thanksgiving and Joe's nephew that lives here in town is coming over for supper.  I got half a turkey breast to pop in the oven.  Deviled eggs are all made and the pumpkin pie.  I'll make the sweet & sour green beans that were requested.

We both had a clinic appointment down in Decorah today, but it rained, sleeted, then snowed.  Not a lot of snow, but ice underneath.  The way the wind was blowing Joe called when the clinic opened and rescheduled our appointments.  As he was hanging up he told the gal he better get the dog out and she told him to be careful, there is ice under the snow.

I've been thinking about you guys all day Cal.

JP it was supper seeing your great morning post and glad you were comfortable sleeping.  Yep, always great to wake up.

Good morning everyone- Happy belated birthday Neva- I hope you had your favorite meal and cake, too.

jp- so happy to see you yesterday- ty for the colorful teddies!
cal- love your "herd" picture. It is 30 here but no wind and my 2 critters were out on the porch ready for an early breakfast. They could hardly eat yesterday with the wind. I did feed n the summer house in the morning.

We are going to my niece's house for dinner today but another niece is in charge of the meal. I am taking roasted butternut squash and roasted brussels sprouts with bacon. Both dishes are easy enough. The hard part is trying to figure how much to take. There will be 15 of us- four of whom are guys in their twenties. I hope there will be left overs since I really like these veggies. I am looking forward to pumpkin pie for dessert too.

Yesterday morning we saw something unusual here. About 8 AM we noticed deer in the field across from us where beans had been harvested. Looking closely there were 5- and there were 4 bucks and 1 doe who stayed pretty far from the other 4. We have never seen 4 bucks at the same time but figured they were all wanting to mate with the one doe. We saw no aggression except when one would move toward another the other just walked away. They didn't get closer than 20 or 30 feet of each other. Then our neighbor drove by on her way to work. She stopped tight in front of our house- but the deer all ran off.  Amazing event here!
Well, I need to go make the bacon. First time to try it in the oven. I'm going to go to a spin class at 8 AM- our instructor decided to offer this bonus- maybe I won't feel guilty eating pie!!

Happy Thanksgiving and have a great day jewelies!

I liked your "herd" too Cal.  Hugs.

Thanks JP, I hope you had someone to be with today.

Wow on the deer Lupe.  Was your neighbor just looking or was she afraid of them running in front of her, or both.

Hi Rues, Lori, and Ra.

Cal I'm fine.  The doctor had started me on blood pressure pills and adjusted it once, but I was supposed to stop back this week for just a nurse visit for a recheck so he could decide what to do.

Running way late, but Happy Thanksgiving all.......

Good morning everyone- hi jp and ty for the cornucopia; hope everyone had a good day yesterday.

cal- it is 30 and the sidewalk here is wet; weather person was talking about freezing drizzle last night but it just looks wet here. Did anyone have sunshine yesterday? Certainly was cloudy and dreary here. The day was brightened by a family get together. Three of our great nephews we haven't seen together for 15 years. In the years between we've seen them individually and I have to say it was hard to remember who was who. The oldest is 29 and the youngest 24. We played Dutch blitz after a most wonderful dinner. My niece ( who lives in San Francisco) made the dressing and it was wonderful. Lots of veggies- even artichokes- and sour dough bread as the base. Sour dough is a favorite. Two different cranberry dishes- I ate the one with horseradish- yummy.

After dinner there were 4 kinds of pies- pumpkin, pecan, pecan cranberry, pear and shoo fly. I guess there were 5 kinds. I ate a small piece of pumpkin and a small piece of shoo fly but they all looked wonderful.

Nora- pretty sure my neighbor was both- amazed at the deer and worried that they would run in front of her. I was wondering which of those critters destroyed my evergreen decorated now with Irish Spring soap.lol
Basketball today- Iowa beat Texas Tech last night in the Las Vegas invitational- so they play probably San Diego State or maybe Creighton. The football team plays Nebraska at 1:30 too. And Iowa State plays cal's team I think.

Started off the day yesterday with a fun spin class- Every bike was taken. Probably today's class will be sparse because of the shopping thingie- black Friday.

Have a great day jewelies!
