Word is Spreading - UPDATE November 26, 2019
26 November 2019

Word is spreading about our great food. Last night, after two raccoons left, eight flying squirrels took over.Flying Squirrel

We have never seen that many here before. The Eyes of the Night captured 6 of them in one picture in which they are getting along fine in a compartment of a feeder. Flying squirrels are more social than the red squirrels we see by day.

A chickadee showed some of the variation in the bib that helps us identify some individuals.

Another one of you provided information about beaver activities after ice-up. Quoting from a book on beavers, he wrote: One beaver bit the edge of the ice closing in on the last hole of open water in the pond. She saw beavers swim under the ice and push it up with their backs. They also climbed on top of the ice and pushed it down with their forepaws.

That probably explains the wet spot, which possibly is open water, in front of their lodge as is shown in the picture on the 24th.

Thank you for all you do.

good morning everyone- cal- the wind is howling here too. Will probably feed my 2 cats in the summer house- they don't like the wind. So sorry to hear about jim 's Mom but how fortunate for her that she can make those decisions on her own.

johoward- I also read your brothers obit and just loved the part about the rescue dogs. Acouple of weeks ago I sent a donation to Hope For Paws. They rescue lots of critters some of which have videos on youtube.

cal- I hope little lee is better and what's up with pearl being naughty? Can't even imagine a confrontation between pearl and sweets!

nora- good to see you. The museum I was talking about is in Mt. Pleasant- Old Threshers. They have a big reunion over Labor Day every year- trains and trolleys running- zillions of steam powered everything. I love it depending on the weather.  I see it's snowing your way this morning.
Do you have to travel tomorrow?

Tine for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

hi jp! happy to see you happy you woke up and are good! thank you the picture of colleen with her kids and the good morning.

hi lupe i know this is what annie wanted she said please just let me go to hospice and go to heaven get all these tubes out of me. so they did and she  was happy. jim told me yesterday she told all her girlfriends all her church friends i came to see her i was upset told him wish you had not told me that.he said why that made her just so happy.  just upset me. but i am happy i saw her gotta feeling it was the last time jim still not home not called. it was good she got to make her own decision. i would want that too. i would not want to be like that either not at all. little lee really good now almost tripped me again running right in front of me eating away too. well pearl was acting so scared for a couple of days scared bad if sweets jumped up in that corner she would try to bite him she cant thru the bars but let him know she would like too and he would try to ram her back hitting the door he cant hit her your right that would bad good them two never out in the pasture.  her eyelashes were in her eyes her eyes red so i pulled that lash and put in eye medicine but she was scared of the poop buckets sitting up front i think cause times i go out and them buckets be knocked over some raccoons got into it which they do at times and knocked them over and prolly scared pearl. not sure but she is back to being pearl again not afraid of nothing not even this wind. now if i put a saddle on her she would be really afraid of this wind of everything.  if we had snow too it would be blinding like in colorado and out in western kansas they have the highways shut down there tons of wreck cant see anything but white. blinding white.
