ok Lup,  almost time.  are you awake?  are you ready for some football? very soon kickoff.  I can't think of a good funny bet, but I am rooting for my Browns.  Boy this crowd is wacko.

did I tell you our grand, Mary, used to babysit for Hugh Jackson in Cincinnati and in Cleveland while she was in school. He was on our local news tonight, and she caught his comments after I texted her.

johoward- Duke woke me early so am up; i'll admit I didn't watch the whole game last night. Was very surprised to see what happened. Terrible fight- much controversy. I'll watch what I missed on NFL channel. They are rebroadcasting now.

Congrats on your win!!

Black bear people of Ely MN said this....We thank you all for another successful Give to the Max Day. We are very humbled by your generosity and support. We can?t wait for spring to get started on this very important bear enclosure improvement project. We thank you and the bears thank you too!

Good morning everyone- well- I just finished watching the game replay and the fight that happened was surely a low point for all of professional sports. Steeler QB was tackled a lot during the game and Garret who got him the last time may have been a bit aggressive. Mason pushed him- I think- and Pouncy who is the Steeler center came between them. Garret reached around Pouncy and ripped off Mason's helmet then he hit him in the head with the helmet. What a mess but I think that's the worst of it.

Clear sky here today and above freezing temps predicted. Had a great time with my sil- we both had cheeseburger on home made buns- really good coffee and a salad. So yummy and the place was really busy. I'm glad we got there early. Then we went grocery shopping and got cat food. Was a nice visit.

Nothing much on the schedule today- Duke threw up a little this morning- so I want to keep an eye on him. Don't think anything major is wrong- but still.

Have a great day jewelies!

Boy! Some fans we are.  LOL  I fell asleep too, but woke up to go to bed and saw the fight on game highlights replay.  Looked bad.
Sorry Lupe.  Browns tried to give you a win with penalties, just was not enough time.  They needed one more quarter.  Sure could sense the animosity throughout the game.  Hard to imagine they could build up so much emotion when most players on both team are new to the area.  Fights in the stands between long time diehard fans I can understand.  The Steeler vs Browns rivalry is a real thing.  Maybe players are just born mean.
Any way wishing all a warm and safe Friday.
Joan will be getting up soon.  Going to see her bone doctor.  Hip has been bad last night.  Hope he can help her. I hear her calling so will say good bye for now.  God bless.

Jim and i went to get smokey and he looks beautiful!! got some gas then i followed jim he took the gravel road and i was not happy about that at all got home and we dusted smokey off. i heard on my radio the punishment for that cleveland steelers game i found this but other players got suspended some games too The NFL has suspended Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett "indefinitely," after Garrett ripped off Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph's helmet and whacked him in the head with it during a fight at the end of a game Thursday night. ... The Browns and Steelers organizations were each fined $250,000.3 hours ago

Smokey the driver side front headlight broke out and front fender dented in and hurt the bumper on the front too. jim got four new tires for it they are beautiful too! smokey drove home just fine but that man at the body shop bob said lots of rust underneath it so jim is putting smoke up on his car lift and spraying it underneath.

Hi Jewelies!  Drizzly and chilly here today!  Good day to do laundry, change sheets, dust, vacuum, etc.   ;)

cal... Smokey looks great!  Hate to hear about the rust, but nice that Jim can spray the underside.  Hope that stops it!!  I don't understand why they schedule pro football teams out of the country, especially Mexico,  where you hear all kinds of bad stuff happening!  I sure wouldn't make that trip!  Fan or not!

I'm like the rest of you... I didn't see the whole game last night... went to sleep.  Wish I had seen the fight, so I know what all happened.  Wow!  Suspended indefinitely... good.  Never seen a player do something like that.   Big fines for both sides, too.

Hope you're all having a good day, Jewelies!

Daily Updates
Thank You! - UPDATE November 15, 2019
15 November 2019
 Print Email
Thank you!

As I saw the donations come in from caring supporters, it felt good to know I/we are not alone and are part of a heartfelt group who share a mission for bears. By the numbers, we exceeded the $35,000 goal with a total of $36,377 for the Bear Center. I know that exceeds the official total, but I received a check for $100 that didn?t get counted yet. And thank you also for the $1,760 you gave to the WRI that we didn't even mention! Many thanks to you and to the staff and volunteers who made it a festive day and brought things together in a nice way. We?re all looking forward to seeing the enclosure improvements in spring.

Pileated female
Pileated female
Out the window, a female pileated woodpecker showed up. It?s the first female I?ve seen here in months. She has the black mustache stripe of a female instead of the red stripe of a male. Her yellowish brown forehead is distinctive. I have never seen that color forehead before?not on adults or juveniles. Females typically have dark foreheads. She came in with her crest raised, as the picture shows, looking for suet that had disappeared overnight. I put more out and hope to see her again. No raccoons, foxes, or minks for many days now; and, of course, no bears.

Thank you for all you did and do.

Good morning everyone- still dark here and stars out but I could see some clouds- moon wasn't quite so bright this morning. Mid 20's on the temp. A lot of our snow melted yesterday and duke is excited about that. He gets his belly wet when he goes out to potty - never staying in the path I've tromped down for him. The snow wasn't deep but he is so short.lol

Hawk basketball wasn't televised last night- had to listen to the radio- What??? Yes we still have a radio. Hawks won. Football today against Minnesota and they are undefeated. Oh boy!  I forget who IowaState is playing but ithink it is a late game.

Duke had no more problems yesterday- cal- you would have cracked up at me following him around to make sure I could see his poop. freaked him out a bit- but he is normal. Yay!

Birds are slow to find my feeder- loved the woodpecker in the update today- I did have a blue jay on the back porch getting water from the cat bowl and checking for bits of cat food. I told him where thesunflower seeds are but he didn't go there.

Not much going on here- Duke and I watched a lot of tv yesterday- how fortunate that he likes the same shows I like.

Have a great day jewelies!

cal- Duke and I just got back from running errands and visiting a niece. Duke had never been there; he was so excited- just running around. Niece said does he need to go out (she has a fenced in yard); I said no he was out quite a long time while the car warmed up. She said well I jusr wondered cause he just pooped on the carpet. Yeesh! I of course was mortified because he has never has an "accident" in our house. I said  let me put him out and i'll clean it up. Oh no she said just perfect poop- i'll pick it up. I think he was just so excited about being out and socializing he for- got himself.

After we got home he just curled up on the floor as if to say Boy- this visiting is exhausting! lol He may sleep through the games today.

Hi Jewelies! We only got a dusting of snow the the other day. Not enough to close school or even have a 2 hour delay. It's been very cold though. Today a little warmer with some nice sunshine but a north wind is blowing my neighbor's leaves on my back deck!

Cal, Smokey looks so good! Looks like the same color as my sis's Jeep. Now poor Smokey has to get use to being an outside car! Before we built the garage, I use to worry about my car being out in the cold, rain and snow! I noticed that Crow's truck has a little rust in the truck bed. It has always had that tonneau cover on it but rain must get in there anyways. Blacklist was weird last night. Bet it was hard for Jim to help his mom change her clothes. Good for him that he did it! I think things like that are harder for guys to do. We ladies know it has to be done and we just do it. That's the way we are!  Hope both Jim's parents feel better soon. I'm already hearing cussing coming from the basement! Crow is yelling at the people in the pre game thingy! Lol!

Jp, always so happy to see your post! :)

Lupe, I so enjoy your Duke adventures! What a sweet little guy.

Jo, Crow watched the mattress in a box on QVC the other day. He talked about it all day so I figured he would order one but he surprised me and didn't! He was going to order the car charger and the Kuhn Ricon scissors until I told him we already had both those items! Lol! Apparently he doesn't know what we have and what we don't have! Hope Joan and your brother have a nice day.

Ra, that is so weird that the leaves fell off like that! Do you get any pecans from your tree? A bag of whole pecans cost an arm and a leg but they are so good to eat! I always put them in my brownies. I haven't started to Christmas shop! Robin is the only one I buy for. Crow and I quit exchanging gifts years ago as did my sisters and I. Did you watch Blacklist?

Think I'm going to go out and clean up some more flower beds. After a week of winter everything is dead now! Hope fall comes back again before it is actually winter! Have a nice Saturday!
