Good morning everyone- it is 12 here and wind from the south. Not much snow melted yesterday. Temps are forecast in the 40's next week. Hubby bought sunflower seeds and I set up the feeder. It will take some time before the birds find it. Just had one or two yesterday. When I woke up this morning I realized that last year I brought the feeder in overnight. Never dawned on me to do that! Let's just hope the racoons are sleeping and they didn't try to get it.

cal- I liked your comment about stocking up on critter food for the winter- a semi load at least for you and a warehouse to keep it in.lol Those beavers knew the weather was turning cold- smart! I was watching the Mississippi River can this morning- ice building up and wondering when those birds will head south. We've seen several bald eagles around here- they winter here- more to come  I hope. I still look for antennaes on all the adults hoping to spot out original Diva! I think she was E2 maybe.

jp- loppy and you always bring a smile to this face; so good to see you!

johoward- hope joan's visit went well yesterday and you got to enjoy Cracker Barrel. So.... should we make a friendly wager on /Thursday night football??

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi EV1,  Joan is sleeping in her chair.  She got up early for her at 7:30.  Feeling very good.  Don't know why.  Maybe the weather.  Cold and clear.  She has a 2pm visit with foot md, and is already ready to go.  Seems odd.  She usually waits until the last minute to get ready.  Oh well, I'll take it as long as she hurts less.  I don't care why.  Thank you God.
Good visit to MD yesterday.  Doubled Cymbalta, and took away Zoloft for first time in 40 or 50 years.  Weather did not distract us.  We did have a scare getting out the door.  She had lost the ear piece from her right hearing aid.  We crawled all over with flashlights trying to find it.  It is just a tiny grey rubber cone.  She had to use the left one all day.  She does not like this one.  Does not work as well as right one for some reason.
Just before bedtime, I tried again to find the missing cone.  Finally I found it in her ear.  Now all is well again with aids.
We did wind up at Cracker Barrel at 6PM for dinner.  Joan had chicken and dumplings, because Debbie had told her it was good.  It was not what Joan likes though.  It was all white meat with lots of gooey doughy dumplings.  Joan liked the dumplings, but I had to help with the chicken.  She does not like white meat, but the dumplings reminded her of what her Polish Busha used to make.  So she was happy.  So was I.  I love white meat.  I can't remember what I had, but I liked it.  I had skipped lunch due to doctor's and Bruce's visits.  All I had all day since 7am was a bowl of cheerios with an apple in it and two cups of coffee.  I was very hungry.  I usually eat a lot at lunch and dinner.
Visit with Bruce was not good.  He said he had missed lunch due to visit from hospice people.  Aides said he had lunch.  I think he did not.  The worst thing was he started skidding down out of his wheelchair and I could not get him back up.  It took several minutes and three people to get him back into his chair.  It is bad.  He cannot stand, and his arms are too weak to push him up in chair.  It is awful to think what could be coming for him.  He is in pain all the time all over.
That's enough whining for now.  We hope you all have a good Wednesday.  We will do the best we can.   God bless those in need.  Keep warm.  Help those you can, while you can.
Bye for now.

johoward- i love that comment-Help those you can,  while you can. Such wonderful advice.

cal- Duke came just before lunch and he did indeed know there was another unauthorized critter here. He spent a good 30 minutes with his nose to the ground. Really, really funny guy.

Looking like snow here but only a trace to an inch expected. cul

Good morning everyone- 25 here I think- went out with Duke and no stars so it must be cloudy. He woke me up- dreaming I think- grumbling and then a bark. So we got up - he got a long drink then we went outside. I was also dreaming that hubby and I were running a marathon . lol The funniest thing was neither one of us got the least bit winded or tired. We stopped a bunch and ate snacks. I had my day pack on and it was heavy but I didn't seem to mind. The course was a bit wonky- ran by a water treatment plant- then through a small town and then to a KOA Campground. I got lost there and couldn't finish because I couldn't find directions. Then I woke up- hilarious!

Today will be a full day- walk with my friend and then class. Also it is my sil's birthday and i'm taking her out to lunch. I think we're going to Caf? Dodici in Washington then on to grocery shop. She is 86 today and insists on getting me a birthday gift. We never did celebrate my birthday- not a good month. So i'll tell her she can buy me something if I can buy her something. That will get her going.lol

Then we have a game tonight- Browns are picked to win! Bummer.  Duke and I are ready!

cal- I even vacuumed the carpet thinking then Duke wouldn't smell Norman but his nose knows!

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!   Boy, it's cold!!  Strangest thing happened the night before last... Temps got down to lower 20's and when I looked outside yesterday, the lawn looked strange... looked like someone had spray painted the grass!  All the leaves that were still green on my pecan tree fell off!  I've never had the ground covered with green leaves before!  It looks very weird!!  I have a huge hickory tree that still had a lot of leaves left to fall... they all fell off, too!  Now, I have a LOT of raking to do!!

rues... Did you get snow?  Do you have your snow shovel ready?  It's early this year!  I finished my Christmas shopping yesterday!  That's not always a good thing... I've been known to keep on buying... especially for the girls.

cal... Just to clear stuff up... I was the one with the new dentist and new weatherman, not rues.  Not to worry though... we're all getting older and confuse easier.  lol  lol  Just teasing!  Did you get to pick up Smokey today?  Do you think Jim's mom and dad would be okay with going to an assisted living place?  I know some people wouldn't want to go...  Some that look forward to it though, too.  Do your birds usually "get friendly" in the winter??  Aren't they supposed to take a break this time of year?  lol

JP... Nice to see you, as usual!  Love the pics of Ohio and Loppy!

Johoward... It's ok to whine here.  I sure feel bad hearing about your brother's problems, and I know it hurts you to see him like that and there's nothing you can do to help.  But, your visits are appreciated, I'm sure.  What did Joan think when you found her missing hearing aid?

lupine... Is your "Irish spring tree" still working?  What happens when it rains?  Just think how excited you'd be if you actually saw an eagle with an antenna!!  My fingers are crossed for you!  Hope you had fun with your SIL today and had a good lunch!

I have to work this afternoon... I was just thinking... Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from today!  Where has this year gone??  Wasn't it just Christmas??

Have a good one, Jewelies!

Taking a day off from worry today.  I am watching QVC.  Think I will buy a rolled up queen mattress just to see it expand when unpacked.  Hope to lay around and enjoy a good football game tonight.
Without Ben I think the Brown's have a chance against the Steelers. All we have to do is stop penalties and catch the ball.
Bruce brightened up when I told him to try to catch tonight's game as I was leaving.  He likes Ohio State best, but will root for the Browns too.  We grew up on the shores of Lake Erie in Avon Lake, and Browns have always been our home  team.  So, much as I like to support our jewlies, GO BROWNS.

Joan is a QVC queen and quick.  New mattress will be here on or about Nov. 25th.  Hope it helps Joan's hip and back pains.  Probably won't hurt.  Our mattress came from Sears about 20 years ago.  Can't wait to see the new one blow up when we cut off plastic cover.

Go Browns.  Just in case someone missed it. LOL
