Good morning everyone- yay jp is here- ty for the teddy and ohio. Thank you for your service on this Veterans Day.

cal- sorry about the Chiefs yesterday; Steelers won but I didn't get to see the game. We also have snow and wind and cold. Schools are delayed 2 hours this morning.  So I will go out later to sweep snow after it is done. Maybe the suet will be found today since we have snow. Next project is to get sunflower seeds and cracked corn.

My friend's dog is an English springer spaniel. He didn't measure up to the breed standards- too tall and head too big. But he is a wonderful pet. A good watchdog. Hubby was outside cutting firewood and we were in the living room talking. When hubby came in he was not happy- thought he was going to keep hubby outside. He mellowed out eventually. He did not sit on Duke's pillow. It was standing up between chairs. I decided it was better to keep his scent off that pillow. He did smell all around- probably knew there had been a dog sometime in the past.

I slept in this AM- time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Hi ev1,  Thanks to JP and all other vets for their service.  Joan and Bruce only fair today.
She is sore.  He is not getting treated as well as I think he should.  He is not complaining though, so I just bite my tongue.
Continued prayers for those in need.  Starting with Jim's mom and dad. GTG Lots to do these days.

Bye now.

8.55 on puzzle.

morning again- nice to see you johoward; sending positive vibes your way to lighten the day.

cal- hubby didn't get the old jeep though it was in our price range. It had sat outside for a loooong time- nothing really salvageable to make it into a legal road car. No engine but that wouldn't have been a problem for him. Glad we didn't get it. Snow is over here- windy and cold. Need to go out later and sweep. Both cats were here- heated water bowl and food are out. cul

Great to see you JP! I've GOT to catch up on those puzzles, but that will be fun!  I sure do appreciate you making all those for us.  I love those beady black eyes of Ohio.  Bear cubs are so cute.  Thank you.

And thank you to all the vets and their families out there!

Hi Jewelies !  Beautiful days yesterday and today, but heading for the deep freeze starting tomorrow.  Maybe even some snow up in the mountains.  Down to 23 Wednesday am!!  Yikes!

cal... I didn't get to watch the Chiefs game yesterday, but they did show the final minutes.  Close game... Too bad they were back to all the penalties.  Clemson is back up to number 3.  I watched the Bama/LSU game and it was pretty exciting!  I watched some of the Wildcat game, too... they should have won!  Sure is a good feeling to have your house paid off, isn't it?

HI JP!!  It's always a treat to see your smiling face show up here at Jewels!!  Hope you're having a nice Veteran's Day!!  Thanks for your service!

johoward... So sorry to hear that Bruce isn't getting the care you think he should get.  I thought that about my mom's assisted living, too.  Hope Joan feels better.

lupine... I had to put my cat, Lily, on house arrest last week.  It started raining while she was outside and I found her under the hood of my car, sleeping on top of the air cleaner!  I can just imagine her climbing up my hoses and wires to get there, so no more outside for her.  I even put a sign on my front door, not to let her out!  lol

rues... I went to my new dentist last week for the first time.  I like her and the hygienist did a good job cleaning my teeth.  So much better having to go a couple of miles from home instead of driving all the way to Clemson.  I've been making baby quilts... for some odd reason!  lol  I got my old sewing machine fixed, and wanted to start some projects and I picked baby quilts.  I'll save a couple for each of the grands, but after that who knows!  lol  So far, I've got two done and another cut out and ready to sew.

We have a new weatherman on our local station.  The head meteorologist is retiring after 29 years here.  The new guy is WAY TOO ANIMATED!!  He needs to dial it down a little...  lol

Hi Nora!  Good to see you!  Hope you and Joe are doing good.

Hope everyone has a good evening!

Hi Jewelies! We had a beautiful day...sunshine with a slight breeze and a high of 67! Tonight it turns cold with rain, high winds and snow by morning! Could get over an inch. Temps drop into the 30's and tomorrow night down to 18! Sometimes we get all the seasons in one day!

Cal, I always love the veteran pics you post each Veterans Day! Three handsome vets, for sure! It was my younger sis that I picked up after her colonoscopy. Her housemate, Sandy, works at the surgery center where the procedure was done. Sis rode to work with her and after the procedure was done and sis was ok to leave, Sandy called me to come get her. Sis use to call Sandy her roommate but she shares in all the household chores and pays half on all the bills so Sis upgraded her to a housemate! Lol! Don't you just hate those dreams that wake you up and you think they are real? Glad Jim didn't really put that close line up! Lol!

Lupe, I have an old black and white pic of myself sitting on the hood of my brother's Willys Jeep. It was his first car so it must have been around 1955. I would have been around 5. My older sis said they had some great times in that Jeep.  I love English springers! A neighbor across the street had one years ago. I felt so sorry for the dog because he was left outside in the fenced in yard most of the time.

Ra, I think you are going to get the same cold front that's heading here! Too early for snow and freezing temps! What a cool idea to make baby quilts for the grands! You are so talented! My sis started crocheting a baby blanket when I went into labor (she was thinking I would be in labor for hours) but Robin came 20 minutes after we got to the hospital, so the blanket was never finished! She recently found it in a box of old yarns and gave it to Robin. Robin put it in a basket that Sis had made! That was scary that Lily got under your hood! Glad she isn't allowed out now!

Jp, so happy to see you! Thank you for your service!

Hi Jo and Nora!

Have a nice evening! :)

Good morning everyone- I just checked the temp and it is Zero! No wind though and my 2 outside cats were there. I put warmish water in their water bowl and gave each a big bowl of food. They amaze me- Yesterday they spent most of the day in the cat barn- nice in there- out of the wind and the sun was nice. hubby said the roads in the morning were pretty icy.  There were no pawprints in the snow yesterday when I went out to see. Either that or they got drifted over.

However- the mole in the front yard made a noticeable tunnel pushing up a line of snow- what's with that- doesn't he know he should be hibernating? Jeesh!

Hi nora- I need to get back to the puzzles too!

ra- so glad your Lily is on house arrest; good move on your part. I've said for years that the 2 I have outside now are the last 2. I worry so about them.

rues- I like English springers too. The last time my friend and I took a short trip he went with us. Such a good traveler he is. He is not really spoiled but he does stay in the house and has numerous beds beside the one his human sleeps in.

cal- so glad smokey is getting fixed up- you'll be ready for the winter now!

Have a great day jewelies!

GM EV1  Especially uno whooo.  That Loppy reminds me of a "winner" in a johnny cash or merle haggard song. That cat found on the air cleaner is definitely one of the luckiest cats alive. Who else looks under the hood starting out? I don't know anyone else who does.  Yay RA.
More prayers for Jim and his folks.  My greatest fear is of Joan falling when I am not around, and really being bad hurt with no immediate help.  The squad has been here once to get her off the floor.  I could not do it that time.  She has to go see her mood doctor at 2pm on the East side.  It is pretty far and very snowy right now.  We will try to come back through Avon Lake to see Bruce on our way home.  It will be a long afternoon for her, but maybe Cracker Barrel for dinner after visit with Bruce.  We will see.
I better get going.  God bless all in need.

Daily Updates
The Beavers Are Locked In - UPDATE November 12, 2019
12 November 2019
 Print Email
Beaver at Lodge 11-4-19
On November 4, the temperature was steady between 28 and 32?F all day, and the beavers spent the day carrying mud and lake bottom vegetation up the sides of their lodge to seal crevices and provide insulation. Did they know that this was the last day they could do that? I?ve never seen them work like that before.

On November 5, temperature rose from 12? to only 23? and froze the water. They were sealed in and had to do with what they had for insulation and a winter food cache (the branches protruding above the ice in front of the lodge). Did they know they were sealed in for the winter.    Beaver Lodge 11-5-19
Beaver Lodge 11-6-19
On November 6, temperatures started at 14? and rose to 21?. The ice looks more substantial.
On November 12, after record-setting cold of minus 11?F and rising to only +11?, I can?t imagine the lake opening up until spring. Tracks show that a deer walked by on snow and ice that held up fine.    Beaver Lodge 11-12-19

At the Bear Center, Judy Thon is starting to look for interns for 2020. She does a great job of selecting them, which makes me happy for many reasons. One is that when I walk down the sidewalks of Ely, people shake my hand and say what a good time they had at the Bear Center with Interns and Bear Educators answering their questions and make their time educational and fun. I don?t know how she comes up with such good people. Not to take away from her, but I think people who apply for this kind of work with bears and people are self selected for being the way they are. https://mailchi.mp/bear.org/now-accepting-2020-internship-applications

Thank you for all you do.
