Good morning everyone- yay jp was here yesterday- Teddies in a tea pot! Love it thanks jp.

cal- what a bummer your Chiefs lost; and johoward as for the Browns- we were cheering for them and any team who play the Patriots. Really want them to lose. Wow- that sounded like sour grapes...Steelers play tonight against the Dolphins. May be a late night for me.

Yesterday was going to be the last of the nice warmish days so we took full advantage. We went to Guttenberg for lunch. We have a favorite place right along the Mississippi. You can sit next to the windows and it is a beautiful view. I was fantasizing about a huge steak and salad on the way up. It was a beautiful trip with many gorgeous trees at their peak. Well, the restaurant has morphed into a bar and grill in the basement of the restaurant. Bummer! We finally found a caf?/deli on a side street. Had a really good bowl of chili and a cinnamon roll. Not quite the lunch I had envisioned but very tasty.

Tonight is a birthday dinner for my sil. She is the eldest of my sils- 94 I think. Anyhow, her daughter from Oklahoma City is here and she is a great cook. She said nothing fancy but it will be delish nevertheless. Plus cake!

Plus- Duke is coming this evening- oh happy day!!!
Have a great day jewelies!

Hi EV1,
Going to a hospice meeting with Bruce at 11am.  Joan will try to go with me and Debbie said she got off too.  Don't know what to expect, but I am very apprehensive and sad.  Tried to call Bruce, but got no answer.  Lots of times he cannot reach his phone.  Maybe he is indisposed.  I want to ask him how he is feeling about this meeting, and hospice in general.  Will let you know how it goes later.
Meanwhile I hope all who read this will be well today and especially Jim's mom and dad.
Don't know who to root for in the series.  I was leaning toward the Nationals in the runup, but they just do not look like a champion team lately.
Goodbye now and may the good Lord take a liken' to ya.

OK Nats it is I hope.  Very sad to hear about your mom.  Sounds awful for you.  Not her though. Right?
I do not like hospice so far.  Do not seem to be qualified to care for him.  Not like all the commercials etc.
Joan did have a good day though.  Included Cracker Barrel for omelet at lunch.  Not on menu, but make it if you ask.  We both had one.  They were good.

Good morning everyone- we have snow!  Last night it was snowing when I took Duke out to go to the bathroom and he said- No Way- I don't have to go- I don't want to get all wet- I can hold it! What a character he is. We got up around 5 and I took him out. It is beautiful - about 3 inches but the trees haven't lost all their leaves so the branches are hanging down low. Thankfully there is no wind. Clear- 28 degrees and no snow on the sidewalk just the grass and trees. From what the weather guy said it will all melt today before another snow Wed into Thurs.

cal- you asked a while ago where I dumped the stuff I cleaned off the flower beds. Right now I only have one compost bin set up- waiting to get a tree removed from where I had 3 bins. In it I put all the kitchen waste and will load with leaves. Hubby has a low place behind his shop where I've been dumping all the rest. Kind of an over the hill place. I got the cat barn cleaned yesterday and washed all the chair pads from the back porch chairs. I was going to try to relocate a couple of perennials but it was too chilly for that.
johoward- glad you and Joan had a good day. Wish we had a Cracker Barrel close- sounds yummy.

Supper was squash soup, salad, and 2 kinds of casseroles- one with tater tots and one with spaghetti squash. The cake was so good- very moist

Duke came while we were gone- I left a welcome note- and we did watch the game together- so glad the Steelers won!

Time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Loving Leftovers - UPDATE October 29, 2019

Only one bear visited last night?a bear we call Limpy of unknown origin. He is very skittish of us and other bears. White-tailed buck
White-tailed buck
We call him Limpy because he hops along on 3 legs due to an injured right front foot. He weighed only 180 pounds when we first saw him on October 5, about a month into bear hunting season. He is still only 256 pounds, which is light for his frame. We suspect that he is staying late to bulk up after having a hard time finding enough food earlier with his difficulty getting around as well as the berries drying up in late summer. We don?t know how long he?s had his injury. The blurry close-up of his injured foot shows irregular claws and I?m not sure how many claws. Last night he was here only one time and ate 12 pounds of sunflower seed hearts between 9:25 and 11 PM. Just one visit is unusual for him, so we?ll see if he comes tonight or not.

Limpy?s visits this late in October remind us of Quill who set the record with his last visit being November 18 at 12:07 AM. He also had to bulk up after having a hard time eating earlier due to porcupine quills in his lips.

With only one visit by a bear last night, there were leftovers to be eaten by red squirrels, blue jays, a new 8-point buck that was comfortable looking in the window, and the usual cleanup crew.

Good morning everyone- all the snow yesterday melted except some on the north side of buildings. Now we have more on the way for tonight into tomorrow. After the snow yesterday most of our trees dropped the vast majority of their leaves. There was no wind so they fell straight down to make colorful pools around the base of the trees. My usual plan is to mow the leaves to mulch but I may have to rake a bit this year and load the compost bin. It's supposed to be pretty cold and my mower doesn't like to start when it's cold. The last time I mowed it was slightly chilly and it took a bit of finesse to coax the mower to life.

This morning i'm headed to target and the grocery store for a few things. Snow is set to start in late afternoon- Duke won't be happy. He is so short he gets his belly snowy with just a little snow.
cal- Duke was glad to see us on Monday; he is such a good boy. Slowing down a bit. Sometimes I can get from my chair the whole way to the kitchen before he realizes i'm gone. But then he is right beside me. The cats are already using the cat barn. I went out with duke around 4 pm and just checked the cat barn. Both Spitty and Shadow were in there. Good timing on my part to get that thing clean. When the sun is out it's really warm in there.

Have a great day jewelies!

hi lupe i was going to ask about duke such a sweet little boy. last time i used murray to mow the pasture few days back i had some coaxing to do fiddle with the choke cough a few times makes me feel bad came to life. i do not worry about the leaves only tree really close to house with leaves is that maple and i do get on my step ladder clean the glutter along that roof over the walk out basement but rest of them let the wind take them away. oh i thought mr kitty had a mouse in here in my office he does a little stuff one! he is flipping it all over the place. hope he does hit my router i got it pretty stable. yay you got the cat barn up and running and yes just in time too. my weather man saying snow will be falling over night. so i think i will take smokey to town he needs some gas and that gas station has the good gas with no water in it i put that in my mower smokey four wheeler. i got a heating pad plugged in the garage right by the door into the laundry room on that step put it inside of a blanket and i got kitties mostly coaly cat that sleep on that. very warm. also cat beds here and there big rug on the hood of my car. working on the books best get back to that. hi duke! :)

Reposting for Clynn regarding Willi. Prayers for you sweet Willi!
Just got a text from Jerry.  I asked him how Annie was doing, he said not well honestly, they weren't able to get as much fluid out of her lung as they hoped, but enough to send for testing.  They are waiting on those results. I told him lots of prayers were coming their way, and that I wished that I could hug both of them. He said prayers are very similar to hugs for sure. I thank you all for your caring about her.
