Hi Jewelies! It is a cool, damp, drizzly day. All day long drizzle! Wish it would just rain and get it over with!

Cal, I missed the first half of Blacklist because my sister and Sandy stopped by around 7 last night. They had been to the new Hobby Lobby. Sis was looking for a special pair of scissors for her rug weaving. She said no one in the store could tell her where the specialty scissors were! She finally looked it up on her phone on the Hobby Lobby app.  My sis was not impressed with the store. The store has only been open for a couple weeks so hopefully the associates will become more helpful. A Michaels craft store is opening Nov 1 in our old Crafts 2000 store that closed last summer. Hopefully their associates will be more informed! They left at 830 so I was able to watch the second half of Blacklist so  after while  I'll watch the beginning!  I enjoyed reading about Tasha! She is a sweetie. Speaking of Tasha...Robin's friend Tasha is a  Minnesota Viking fan and had her hair colored in Viking colors! She gets all dressed in her team colors and never misses a game unless she has to work. I saw a pic of her hair and it looked pretty good, if you like purple and gold hair! Lol! Assisted living might be a good option for Jim's mom and dad. You would know they were both safe and had someone near to help them. It sucks to get old.

Lupe, your community sounds like a great place to live! You have so many fun things to do with your friends and neighbors. The pumpkin cake sounds yummy! My sis has been retired for almost 5 months now and she has taken classes in rug weaving and pottery! She loves the weaving but found she wasn't very good at pottery! She had a stressful job as an office manager for 20 some years. She seems so happy and relaxed now. I understand your grieving.

Ra, that is a good thing that your grand is focusing on her grades! Does she want to go to Clemson, too? I know of one trip Robin is going on and that is in Dec. She is going on a bus trip, she calls it an old ladies bus, to New York City. The bus leaves here in the night and drives to NYC. It drops the passengers off at Times Square, I think, and comes back to pick them up around 10 or 11 that night for the trip home. She is meeting up with some friends from Boston. They are going to see the Rockettes, a Broadway play, David Byrne, and something else that I can't remember right now! She asked if I wanted to go but I told her that I could not do all that stuff after riding in a bus all night long. I know I would not sleep a wink on that bus! We are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather cooperates. That trip crosses over the mountains which can be treacherous in the snow! I probably won't sleep anyway until I know she has safely arrived in New York! She hasn't mentioned what she will wear on Trick or Treat. Last week she went to a murder mystery dinner and dressed up like  a black cat. Last Halloween night is when she and Tim broke up!

Hope everyone is doing well!

cal... Clemson up 38-7 at the half.  Time for the rest of the team to play in the second half.  Dabo always plays as many guys as he can.

rues... Sounds like you had the same kind of day as we did here.  I don't like to go to a store or restaurant when it first opens...  give the employees time to get into the swing of the place.  I love my Hobby Lobby!  Especially the Christmas department!  lol   My youngest grand's plan is to go to a technical college for the first two years, because it will be free because of the lottery scholarships, then transfer to a different college, maybe Clemson, for the next two years, then off to a medical school.  She wants to be a doctor... maybe a radiologist.  She wants to make lots of money!  lol   I don't think I'd like Robin's NYC trip either... guess we're too old and homebodies.  I could sleep on the bus... IF I could stop thinking about all the germs from previous passengers.  lol  Sounds like something she'll like though.  She's so adventurous!!

Daily Updates
Return of the Mink - UPDATE October 26, 2019
26 October 2019
 Print Email
The big surprise yesterday was suddenly seeing the familiar face of Clear the Mink looking in the window after months of absence.Clear the mink
Clear the mink
What a joy! It was as if he had never left. I wanted to open the window for him to jump in onto my desk and re-familiarize himself with the pencil holders, telephone, and computer monitor, but it was easier this time to go to the door. He circled back and forth wondering why it took so long to get a bologna package open, then he came and stood up to take a slice and go off to eat or stash it. In subsequent visits, he eagerly took 2 mice. If he can make it through the trapping season, it will be a good winter. We will do our best to have him do the same as last fall.

A male hairy woodpecker stopped by to eat bear leftovers (sunflower seed hearts).

I got a report of a possible bear den and checked it out?a freshly dug fox den, but being near Jewel?s den of 2013, I stopped by but no sign of work. I snapped a picture of her old inner sanctum that she shared with yearlings Fern and Herbie that winter.

On this sunny day (yesterday, October 25), I had to see the view from the overlook that is 1.2 miles from here. The leaves are nearly all down, including the spectacular leaves that on October 20 were still yellow-gold on the now-bare aspens in the foreground.

I am trying to get back to normality but it is a slow process.  Anyhow I send warm thoughts to all of you on this fine Sunday morning.  I see that the Washingtons lost game 4 of the World Series and so it is now  a best of three with Houston having home field advantage.  Otherwise I am basically out of touch with what is going on.  I will have to spend some time catching up.
