This Audubon article may be technically correct, but using "epic fail" in the story headline is an overreach. The two Canadians who rescued that trapped Bald Eagle saved its life. They had good in their hearts and helped more than harmed. Sure, the Eagle could've suffered sudden death from the stress, and could've needed treatment if had been taken to a rehabber, but it was surely going to die, and likely in some grizzly way, if it had not been found and freed. Even trained rescuers and rehabbers have their pictures taken when rescuing and transporting and releasing birds and other animals. The article is right to point out the proper way to handle finding a bird that is injured, but the writer could've found a lot more to gripe about the causes of injury to raptors, and missed an opportunity to use that rescue to point out the plight that raptors and other birds face, including being harmed and killed by baited traps.
