Saving the endangered kiwikiu with bird release in fall

http://www.mauinews.com/news/local-news/2019/04/saving-the-kiwikiu/

Fewer than 300 kiwikiu, also known as Maui parrotbill, are left in Maui's wild, the only place on the Earth these petite birds can be found. Experts are looking to start a second kiwikiu population high atop leeward Haleakala this fall, and they've been reforesting the area for about seven years in joint efforts to restore native habitat. -- Department of Land and Natural Resources photo

Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris is on fire

This is a massive fire; the spire has already collapsed.

Apart from being a national disaster for France, peregrines nest at the Cathedral. I can only hope that they were able to escape, and that there were no chicks in the nest.   :'(
