Northern Harrier is one of the Bitterroot's most common birds of prey

Once commonly called a marsh hawk, the Northern Harrier is one of the Bitterroot Valley's most common birds of prey. It stands about 12-inches tall. It is easily identified by its white rump patch, which is visible as the bird flies away from a human observer.
