In Peru's Lobos de Afuera Islands, a century of loss from guano harvesting, overfishing, and-recently-climate change lies between a 1907 photograph of a Peruvian pelican breeding colony and the landscape of littered bones on the same spot in 2017. Starvation, coupled with El Ni?o rains, likely killed most of the chicks in the preceding breeding season.
