Eagle ?hot spot? in Virginia could be replaced by a golf course and resort. This is another example of developers using the successful comeback of eagles against them, which almost makes my head explode.  >:(

I'm so sad and angry about the EPA-caused accident in Colorado that allowed millions of gallons of toxic wastewater from an abandoned gold mine to spill into the Animas River there.  I saw on the national news tonight about the incredibly high levels of lead in it... not to mention the many other heavy metals, such as iron, zinc, and copper, and other toxic substances.  I don't think I'm going to be able to look at the articles that will surely follow about the chain of wildlife that surely will be poisoned, starting with the animals that are eating plant and animals in that river, and by swimming, diving, and drinking water in the river.  Of course there is huge impact on people, as well.  And it is already being reported by the U.S. Geological Survey that the size of the spill is 3 times what the EPA originally estimated.  It started in Colorado, and the Animas River in CO has already seen the spill flow into the San Juan River, in New New Mexico two days ago, where it has flowed through the Navajo Nation, and then it will converge with the Colorado River in Utah.  (Is Wyoming after that?)

A couple of the stories... the CNN and "USA Today" articles are the most recent ones I found - both updated within the last half-hour, and both with text, video, and photos...
