Is the poisoning intentionally directed toward the Vultures in those areas? IF yes what do they feel they have to gain by killing a bird that keeps their landscapes clean and also free of animal diseases? >:( >:( >:(


Pat-I've read a few different theories/motives. 1) Vultures are collateral damage when lions/predators are the target and have been poisoned to protect cattle. 2) Vultures are collateral damage when elephants are poisoned to obtain ivory. 3) Vultures are collateral damage when feeding on drugged (diclofenac) carrion. 4) Vultures are otherwise taken by indigenous people for cultural/ritual purposes. 5) Vultures are deliberately baited with poisoned carrion by poachers to keep the vultures out of the sky, which would give away the poachers' location.
