Hi, TW! Have you heard of any plans to put a camera on the new nest?

I know they are planning on having a camera up and running by the time next season begins so that we can watch whichever nest they choose. ( PLEASE Mom and Dad don't pick a THIRD location !!!) I have no idea where they are in the process, I am sure RRP will keep us updated on it!!!! :-)

The cams have been installed in Yonder Nest tree.  However, it will take a while for the rest of the necessary system to be ready for the start of next season.

Has everyone been watching Earthflight on PBS' Nature series?  Here's the link so you can watch it online in case you missed it.  http://video.pbs.org/video/2365076008/

On the North America credits, I noticed Neil Rettig's name.  Always watch the credits!  You never know what or who you'll see.

Thank you TW!  It's good to know there are now cams installed in Yonder Nest!

TW - thanks so much for this link.  My PBS station seems to have vanished so have missed the first two segments of Earthflight.

Reminder  EARTHFLIGHT continues on Nature.  This week is South America; just enough pan flute to make it sound authentic, but not enough to make you want to barf.  In case you missed it, here's the link.  http://video.pbs.org/video/2365086098/

"Winged Planet" which aired last year shows 2 hours of the Earthflight series. Neil and his group were nominated for an Emmy for their part. However, the Emmy's for that will not be awarded until Oct. 1st.   Go Neil!

GG, I wondered the same thing about filming the swallows.  Maybe their next series should be "How we filmed the Earthflight Series". ;)  And you're right, the program has been amazing!

Who knew condors had the best table manners of birdom even though they dine on road kill?   :D

I think I remember reading about one episode being devoted to how they filmed Earthflight, but I'm not sure.  Neil Rettig raised the flock of geese he filmed; at one point perhaps during promos for the series, the flock got lost in NYC.  Luckily at least one had a GPS chip, and the flock was found in a small NYC park.  What?  They couldn't find Central Park where they could have had multiple big lakes and grasslands and little kids with food they could nip?

I had to leave home early one day this past week.  The neighbourhood hawk was up and calling already.  Thanks to movies that substitute hawk vocalizations for eagle sounds, I had to do some unwelcome mental gymnastics to think eagle (which excited me no end) and then translate to it's the hawk.  It was too bloody early for that.

Thanks for the article, Finn.  That reminded me of this video about Neil, his wife, and his jealous Harpy Eagle.

OK, this one is a feeling.  I'll wait while you get over the shock that I have feelings.

Earthflight gave me goosebumps this week.  The behind the scenes episode made my ears leak as well.

Here's the link so you can have it happen as well.  http://video.pbs.org/video/2365095227/

I totally agree TW.  I have loved all the episodes, but last night's was my favorite.
