 A baby red-tailed hawk, dubbed Tuffy, was taken from its nest by a female bald eagle. The eagle and its mate are now raising the hawk as their own.

This year’s bald eagle survey in Iowa found an average 1.77 fledglings per nest, one of the highest rates in recent years, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
