tsk - tis true every first and even second snow of the year does cause mahem on the roads.

This one was different though. Temps hovered right around the freezing mark, so though it snowed on and off lightly all day and into the night. It was WET and froze instantly. So ice ice baby. Not snow.

Hi Lisa - Hi Phyl  Chilly morning to all.

Beautiful downtown Darien starts at 25 this morning kb.  Did a big no-no and didn't put refuse at the curb last night.  Wee bit nippy this morning.  Did one smart thing - dug out and put on my down cold weather coat with gloves.  Luckily the only flakes that survived were on the grass and roofs.

Joy of joys is that I haven't fought rush hour mornings into the city since 1994.  No rush and no backups on my block.    ;D   NOPE don't miss I55.  Sipping hot tea as I start my at-home work.    ;D

My knee doctor is great.  I wish you could use him.  My biggest life mistake was not getting my knee done 10 or 15 years sooner.  I wish you lots of luck and God Speed on your plan.  You "back up plan" sounds good to me.  When I was forced to find a surgeon because my bone doctor retired before covid let him do my knee I was at a loss.  So I called around from google and asked everyone I knew in the medical field who to do it.  I came down to one doctor who was described by some hospital workers as "a knee machine".  I saw him once and very soon I had a new knee.  It was not very long at all I was able to use the stairs to get his second floor for my rehab sessions.  I had not used that leg to climb stairs for a long time.  It was great.  I now avoid elevators like I did when I was young and wanted to be strong and fit.  Then I would run up stair any chance I got.  Not bragging just sayin it made all the difference in my life.
Duffy is fitting in well.  She is very attached to Brian already.  I saw a big happy change in her as soon as Brian got home from work.  She is very careful of stairs.  She waits for them to be all clear before starting up the three steps into the kitchen from the garage.  At least that is what I thought until Debbie told me that she could be waiting for the treat to be placed at the top step like she did at her noon outing.  I will see her at 3;30 tonight when I get Odin from the bus.  So stay tuned for more Duffey news.
Bye now EV1 GBU.  I did not do puzzle yet, but will soon with coffee number two.  Will post time after. It is white out here and I mean snow is covering the grass just barely.  Pavement is wet at 33 degrees.
Finally got puzzle done.  5:41

Good Morning Beakers!

The Zammit family from Sydney, Australia, gained fame for their refusal to sell their five-acre property, even though they received offers of up to $50 million. Their land became a prime target for developers as new residential neighborhoods were built around it, with roads curving around the property to avoid it.
Despite the substantial offers and growing pressure from developers, the Zammits remained steadfast in their decision to keep the land, prioritizing their connection to it over the financial gain that selling would bring.
The family's story is a rare example of people holding on to their land against overwhelming commercial interests.
Over the years, their home became a symbol of resilience, as they defied the allure of massive offers.
This situation caught the attention of the public, with many admiring their refusal to part with a piece of land that held sentimental and personal value, even when surrounded by major changes in the area.[/size]

We're looking at two totally different mindsets.  They, the Zammets, appreciate what they have and have their souls in the right place.  Wish I was able to give each and every family member a BIGGGGG hug.  What love for their heritage and family.

Then, if you look closer, look at what surrounds them.  Different goals, different desires, IMHO the also- rans.  There isn't enough space to sneeze without spreading your germs or even the smell of  what you had for dinner.  Block after block, box after box    OMG.

Looking beyond the immediate center at the other housing surrounding the edges/outside the boxes  there does appear to be another choice?  So very glad we have so many other options and means to better our choices.  Glad I had choices, happy I made my way to my estate.   ;)
