So you might want to ask Amy to get that Cheers 2022 thread back in the Decorah Lounge board. I'm sure she moved it to the Decorah Eagles Board by mistake. I think its index might be messed up somehow... just an idea... But I'm sure if you ask Amy to look at where the regular Cheers 2022 thread that has been in progress all this year is now, she can get it straightened out.

Couldnt sleep so up early my co work is off so I have to do her work plus mine so I will get a head start cause I get off at 200 today (summer hours) So go to make sure the wor is done. Yes the new hires will ask me questions when ot in office we have a messenger service we use. Not as much though . My other co worker is in the offce so they bug her. she is getting me mad she is taching one girl wrong or not showing the how t do things but expects the to know. Copper gets me up early still but I was up first today hee hee I even tooka shower already and almost done with my first of many coffees

Went to an incredible High School play/musical last night in which my middle granddaughter participated, "Chicago." The talent was over the top. It was so professional it was hard to keep in mind this was a HS play/musical. Kudos to the kids. Lots of hard work and long, long days with their rehearsals. We were so proud.

Awww to Copper. He loves his mama. Wow you were up earlier today! You sure did get up before Copper and took a shower earlier too! Copper got a taste of being woken up early. LOL

Nice to getting off at 2pm today! I've said it before, LB, and I'll say it again .. You have excellent work ethics. Hopefully the new hires will catch on to doing the work correctly from your guidance when you're in the office.

I thought you waking at 3am was an occasional thing. It happens nightly? (early morning) It's good that you can go back to sleep.

I went back to sleep again until Copper decided to wake me up at 7am again. I am so exhausted. I may actually crawl into my bed in a littlebit to take a nap which I never do I would just usually fall asleep on couch but I want my bed today.

If I could quiet my brain, it would definitely help I'm sure. I think of all things that COULD happen, then I go to worse case scenario. That's just me LOL.

Poor Copper. Looking forward to going into work tomorrow. Oh I got my coritzone shot on Thursday, He mentioned surgury but he said I have to loose more weight to qualify I understand that but I kno wof people heavy who had knee surgury. I dont want the surgery yet though

LB, Does the cortisone shot work for you? It stopped working for me a couple of years ago. In the beginning, it took some of the pain away, but then after awhile, not so much.

LB, I had cortisone shots a few years. In the beginning they helped a bit, but then nothing other than the sleepless night the night of the shot.

It's actually coming down snow showers here on and off all day....temp approx. 30 deg.

So where is the March lamb????

So happy I don't waste my time watching the Oscars, and BTW, I never did like Will Smith......just 'sayin.

Power at work went down accident we worked until our lap top died than went home and worked the rest of day fro home power is on now. LB....My knee also wakes me at night. Sometimes a pain sometimes a "pulling" sensation. Tylenol for arthritis helps a tiny bit for me.

I'm hoping this cold doesn't kill some of my perennials that are beginning to pop up. Can't wait to see leaves on the trees and some pretty flowers.

Still waiting for the "lamb" part of March to kick in. We've certainly had enough of the "lion." LOL

My first thought was that KB showed a pic of my purple barberry bushes. Did a lot of checking up on different sites. Have three purple barberry at front of house and 2 orange/red bayberry at the back lot line. Burning bush is also called smoke bush is what I surmised? Whatever, they look like very reliable plants to keep for a while. Read something about X to smoke bush because it's invasive, not used in US/North America.

jicaji, Same here worrying about perennials.

Temp this morning was in the teens with feels like temp in single digits. This Thursday is to be 72 then a cold front moves through with thunderstorms. Crazy.

jicaji, When I was reading past posts I was confused by your asking where's the lamb. I'm thinking what lamb. What post did I miss.

Hi Puff

Plumber was here today. We've been running out of hot water while taking showers. He did all kinds of checks on the water heater which is only about 3 or 4 years old. Everything checked out okay. He was scratching his head. I am too. ??? ::)

I had a busy last weekend attending a virtual two-day conference, 11am to 9pm Sat and Sun, with my oldest granddaughter who had been nominated a delegate to represent her high school. It was very very interesting with many speakers in the medical field. Long days/nights but interesting.

I have a feeling going forward, we are going to need the knee replacement and BTW, my right knee is giving me twinges as well now. I've been fooling around with shots for about 7 years now....I'm so tired of wobbling too, and my stairs are a killer.

It was in the 70s here today and sunny. A nasty thunderstorm, lightening and pounding rain just passed over. It's still raining a bit and the sun is beginning to shine. Me thinks there might be a rainbow. :)

The caret is cheap and old so going to get another one but now I am hesitant to . sigh.. so now I put his bed in the spot where He's peeing see what happens tonight. Supposely we had severe thunderstorms but I slept through them I woke up with all sorts of alerts on phone

i think with Rizzo it's just a routine with him to go to the water at night. He'll hit the bowl a couple of times before he finally settles down in bed. I just leave a tiny bit in the bottom of the bowl, just enough to give him a swallow. I leave it upstairs in the bedroom so he doesn't have to go downstairs LOL. Yes, he's a bit spoiled ::)

Not that I am planning to go, but I would NOT plan a trip to Disney World now. Nope....So sad.

I remember now you did withhold water at night from Copper and he woke you up. Try jicaj's trick with putting just enough water to wet his mouth and swallow. Good idea!
I hope they gave you something for pain too but maybe suggested something OTC. Maybe not.

jicaji, Good idea about Rizzo's water at night. Ummm yep! His mom spoils him. Good!

When my kids were growing up none of us ever had any interest in going to Disney places then or now with their kids.
We went to other places mainly the beach and always stayed ocean front. I love the beach and it was ocean front every time.

Wow on Disney Took my bandage off. the incision is bigger than I thought but did not require stitches just the little bandaids that fall off on its own. Maybe its just bruisd in area and looks bigger than it is.

Listening to the news today again re: Ukraine and the Putin war/atrocities. It's just so maddening that the whole world is watching, wringing their hands, saying how terrible, blah blah blah, and yet no one can stop this monster because of his threats.

Hi Puff, Not sure which results you mean. I don't remember if I posted last month I had my colonoscopy. Maybe I did mention it. Anyway a polyp was found and biopsy was Bingo B9.

Well add me to having the same strange weather here yesterday too. Today is gray and chilly. This week warms up to sun and 70s and one day 75. I'll take it!

Family was here yesterday for a meal. Definitely had a full busy house. Was pleasant.

Getting stuff ready for Easter. Having my daughter and her family for Easter Brunch on Sunday. Making a quiche, French toast with brioche or challah bread, a few croissants, fruit salad, sausages, bacon and of course, homemade crumb cake. I saw a recipe for croissant french toast, I'll have to think about that one.

I am using the cane on and off but I pretty much cant sit especially on my couch which is a sleeper I do have a love seat not a sleep which is better. I am in tears. Im calling the dr Monday to see if I can go on melaxican again. I dont care if it affects my stomach I cant take the pain. I ordered a sleeve/brace for my knee that just came in will try that . Poor poor copper I have no patience for him due to my pain I am abe to do some things some time but when the knees starts up with the pain it is soooo bad.

LB, I'm so so sorry about your knee. Yes definitely call your doctor and very good that the knee sleeve/brace arrived just in time for you to use it. I just said a prayer for you. I hope you can get some rest. I'm sending hugs to you.

Woke up here this morning to below freezing temps. Rainy and snow flurries today. Tonight now pouring rain and possible 1 to 3 inches snow by morning. I'm hoping to wake up to no snow. This weekend temps in the 70s. I'll take it.

jicaji, Great news about your Easter brunch and dishwasher too.

Very strange ... I thought I posted here yesterday. Either I did key a post and left without hitting post tab or I thought about coming here but didn't. Needless to say yesterday was busy.

I got up extra early this morning to scoop up my granddaughters and their mother to take my oldest granddaughter's dog to vet office to get spayed then drive them to school on time because dad/my son was working. I got up early to find out one of my granddaughter's had the stomach bug that's going around .. so vet visit cancelled but still drove one grand to school so mother could stay home with sick one. Then their mom fell and twisted her ankle/foot so is swollen and she can't walk on it. Couldn't figure out how to get her to get her foot seen by Dr because granddaughter was still throwing up and their two dogs running around barking. Heaven help us. ::) Long story short (kinda) my son is taking dil to orthopedic dr after work. I'll get other granddaughter from school today. I'm ready for a nap. ;D
I have a hair appointment this evening. Afterwards an elftini is on order. :) Now I'm going to tap on the Post button for sure.

I just read the report where Mom Decorah and DM2 have pretty much stopped their regular routine at the hatchery and it's believed they are not incubating any eggs N3 this season. And another BE pair has taken up residence at and defending the rebuilt nest that was destroyed years back in a storm. And a goose has taken over and is incubating eggs at the Y nest. Life and nature changes .. Life goes on .. I miss the good 'ol days of Mom and Dad Decorah. They were the very best.

LB.... #1 today and #2 from yesterday.

So, my hummingbird is a regular visitor since we first saw him. AND, my Grossbeak is back today. Jim is putting the BlueBird feeder he built out today. He gave Violet hers when she was here over the weekend. He did an amazing job.

AND yesterday was our 53rd anniversary. Went out for a delicious dinner. We were going to go to some really nice local wineries and have lunch at one of them, but it was so chilly and windy we decided to do that one day next week. They have a great big wrap- around deck outside where you can bring lunch and have some wine as well....Really pretty visuals.

Really chilly and windy here today as well.

I thought about your townhouse yesterday actually when I was trimming outside. I saw a Robin's nest with eggs in the bush I was working around. I thought about the Robin's nest you had in your backyard tree at your townhouse.

I did hear on the news that with food, gas and pretty much everything going up in price rent is too. This current economy is hitting most people hard.

I will have pleanty of time. sigh goal is tomorrow and during week cotacting realtor and look for apartments

I dont know how I will survive living in NJ. I need to find a husbad for 2 incomes. I am at a lost. I am ok for a minute accepting but than panicj comes into play I can look in PA. The borer of NJ and Pa the commute is close enough But not sure if I want to be too far from my father. First thing first resume.

LB...My husband always tells me when I become overwhelmed....just focus on ONE thing at a time. First and most important thing first. Sometimes it helps me. Worst time for me is anytime during the night when I wake up. That's when all the "what if's" circle my head.

Paulie good suggestion re: Laundry.

Funny re: resumes/experience/positions.....I have found that many times if you exude confidence in yourself, it sells, even if you're unsure about the job and if you qualify. You have nothing to lose in accepting a job YOU want and then be willing to learn as you go, if you have to. You'd be surprised at how quickly one can learn just by "hands on." If it doesn't work out, then on to the next LOL. So many times in my positions, I found that if people think you know what you're doing, the battle is 1/2 won......

Also, contrary to what I've just written, I'm remembering an interview I went to and the woman interviewing me was talking about various responsibilities of the job, and when she came to a couple, I actually got up and said, "Oh I don't think I can do that." To which she responded, "You will." AND I did for 10+ years and BTW, we became best friends to this day. LOL

Anyway, good luck and I know you'll do well.

Went to go around in my car this morning and my battery is dead. Good thing it "got dead" in the garage and not when I was out and about.

Well, goingt to start my chicken soup now. We got a chicken from Costco the other day....two dinners from it and tonight is soup. Can't go wrong for 4.99

LB, You using a recruiter is still a good idea I think. They have more access to job openings and do a lot of the leg work for you.

Regarding you posting for the position on the flavor side of your company true you have to consider daily in office vs hybrid. If you do post for it tell your boss you're looking for advancement unless it would be a lateral move.

Have you noticed a price jump in bird seed? I have. I get 40 lbs bags, usually two at a time to not be running out to get seed so often. The price has jumped about $10 a bag for the 40 lb mixed birdseed. Wow. And Mealworms are now $10.99 a lb!
I fill all my hanging feeders in the evening so there's still some seed left in the morning. Same with my ground feeder. Probelm with the ground feeder is it's always empty in the morning because the deer eat it at night. lol

What?! $68 for one 40lb bag mixed seed! I pay that for 2 40 lb bags. Mealworms $10.99 one pound. Same here suet priced the same affordable but it does go fast.

I ha the interviw it went well she will pass on my information to them to see if they will want to do a video interview... I told her next week would be perfect. she told me the salary and my eyes popped out of my head. so I am raying praying pray it will solve a lot of my problems, may take a little time but will solve it I would be able to get a better apartment (a year from now) but I wont be struggling with rent withhtis place as well. My car had trouble starting up. I think its the key fob. I got a new battery it didnt solve it but was told that it may need to be reprogrammed. so taking 1/2 day tomorrow to get it looked at. more $ I dont have..... I am in tears pretty much everyday I want this job without even knowing much about it I am crying!!!!

Hi jicaji, Are your planting and busy outside?

Yesterday I power washed and hand washed each railing and spindle on deck. There's a lot! White and looking nice. Then my husband and I rolled out the carpet and set up furniture, umbrellas and fountain. We sat and relaxed on the deck last nice. Was nice!

Today I'm power washing the rear porch behind house. It runs the full width of the house and under deck. Will then wash all the furniture that goes on porch and set up. Spring and warm temps are here. Happy Happy Happy

Will be going to some nurseries for veggies to plant and a few potted plants to sit around this weekend or next week.

Hi jicaji, Today's my day to weed veg gardens, plant veggies and other plants in pots.

I have hair appointment this evening. Looking forward to it. I'm going back to my short style. It's short now but longer version my stylist and I tried. I like it but prefer my shorter version and I can spike it when I want when short. Shorter in the warmer weather I like too. She wants to try a pixie but I don't think I'm ready for that yet. Lol Pixie yes but not reeealy short pixie.

jicaji, Yepper the weeding went fast and easy. Then I worked the soil, applied Preen then last evening planted the veggies.
Today landscapers were here and mulched everywhere front and sides of house and lots of places in the backyard.
Tomorrow they're planting tall decorative grass with plums (like pampas) along a portion of the fence on both sides of the backyard. 11 on one side and 7 on the other side then mulch it all. I'm excited and looking forward to watching and seeing it afterwards.
It doesn't take much to make my happy. lol

We just dropped Rizzo off for an enchocardiogram to check on his heart murmur. I absolutely hate leaving him for a few hours. He was fine when I walked down the hallway with him and the tech, but when I had to let him just go with the tech. through the door, he put on the brakes and didn't want to leave me. Breaks my heart. We pick him up around 3 or 4p.

I'll let you know the report when I get it.

Paulie....landscaping sounds beautiful. Jim did our mulch the past couple of days. Looks really good, but his allergies really acted up.

jicaji, Feels like a rain forest at your house too. I agree and it definitely got hot fast. 90s yesterday and 89 here right now. Back to the 70s tomorrow. Give the AC a breather. My electric and water prices are going up next month.

How was Rizzo when you got him after his vet appointment? Poor cutie Rizzo. He wanted you with him. I'm sure you stressed the entire time until you could get him. Any test results yesterday? If not, please let us know when you do get them.

She said he should do fine however and have the situation at least stablilized by the meds. It's basically a heart murmur......that can go into congestive heart failure if not treated.

Everytime I hear the a/c compressor going on I see dollar signs. But, at least we have the A/C.....

What did you make with pineapple? Whatever it is it sounds good. Pineapple is delicious!

Good that your temps dropped. Same here. Huge difference. This morning I wore sweatpants and sweatshirt.

Rizzo is approximately 12 or 13 yrs. We're not absolutely sure since he is a rescue. We got him from a high kill shelter. He had one day left. It was thought by the vet we had at that time he was 2 or 3. He is our baby for sure and gives us so much joy every day.

Hi LB, Yes water definitely helps soften and add taste but adding canned dog food I'm sure makes Copper smile big. ;D
Maybe in weaning him still add a bit of canned but refrigerate it and stretch it longer along with the water?

Geez a whopping $10 off rent. How generous of them.

Oh! I can't keep enough suet cakes in my suet feeders! They are going fast every day. Same with owners and people shopping at my local farm store. They said theirs are getting emptied fast too this year.

LB....I'm with you about the Fall. When I lived on Long Island, I loved the summer...Went to the beach, which I love, and the ocean breezes at night made sleeping pleasant. I REALLY miss the ocean terribly and now that my knee is so messed up, I doubt I'd even be able to walk to the water in the sand...I loved listening to the crashing of the waves and listening to the seagulls above, etc. All we get here is heat. Supposed to be in the 90's here as well tomorrow. I guess we'll be cranking up the A/C. Thankful for that, but I hate closing up all the windows, I see dollar signs cranking up as well. Between gas prices, oil prices, electric prices, food prices, etc. etc. it's a bit much.....

Thanks about family cookout. We had it yesterday, Saturday, so everyone could stay late because no work or school today. Was sunny and pleasant with temp in low 80s.

Same here with the temps. 90s beginning today, tomorrow and Tuesday then a storm rolls through then temp back to 80s.
I'm different and not complaining. lol I look forward to this weather all winter.

I didn't turn on my laptop for two days I've been so busy.

I scooped her up and home just in time but poured as I was driving to my home. Strong storm and it cooled things down nicely.

All of the zebra grass the landscaper planted has taken nicely and we're seeing growth and taller already. Rain is always better than regular watering from hose.

It sounds to me like the employer is following the rules of the game instituted by DC in order to get some $$$$$ to help businesses who got caught short either on profits or customers during the last few/2 crazy years. One of the conditions for not having to repay the loan (?) is to not fire anyone or lay them off. Sounds to me like that's what you're caught into. I've never read the rules completely because I work for myself, have no one working for me, didn't take any of the free (?) money. But, that might be part of the explanation.

SO they need to get a temp. if we didnt we would loose the hed count. In the mean time we showed we dont need that extra head. If you have efficint workers you dont need as many. I know the manager doesnt want to loose the head count cause if we ever need that extra head it will be hard to get it approved. Alll I know is you dont take half the work away from a full time employee with seniority (me) to give to a temp and have your full time employee twiddling their thumbs from 10 am to the ret of the day and have the temp with more work. Just saying. LOL

Anyway I have an interview next Friday for another company they manufacture airwcj lysol aresols.. Fuunt becaue my company manufactures the fragrances that goes into the product. I dont recognize the name as them being one of our customers. But sounds like a good fit to me ;P

My middle granddaughter was in her last HS play last night. Of course, I felt she was incredible. It always amazes me that there are still kids willing to go the extra mile and participate in these school activities, be it plays, chorus, band, etc. So many rehearsals, not to mention memorizing lines, music, etc. They were working on this play for many months.

I've been busy with things at my house inside and outside and family was here yesterday and today a family friend is to cut down a tree for me. Not a real big one ub but it's half caput and leaning over so time for it to go.

I'm trying to stay busy but not too busy. Take oodles of breaks, paulie. Finally got the veggie garden turned over yesterday. A few days of heavy planting to do. And there's other things, too. Have to have the hot rod checked tomorrow. May be a brake or shock issue. BAH.

So, I have a beautiful hanging plant on my porch. A House Wren [?] decided to lay her eggs in it. I have been watering the plant, not knowing there were eggs in it. It's a beautiful impatiens plant which needs watering just about daily. I'm afraid to look in it now, as I did once when I suspected there was a nest in it and mom bird flew out in a huff. Now my plant looks very thirsty....what to do, what do do???

Had a moarning dove would come each year for a few years that did the same thing. A couple times I cut off a branch from a bush for her. When little doves left I shooed her off and planted flowers.

My husband told me to leave the plant alone and let the bird do her thing, so that's what I'll do. Kills me though, 'cause the plant was just thriving and looked so pretty. It's a vibrant salmon color....well not so vibrant now lOL. Now it looks pitiful just hanging there dying.

jicaji, Nice that you enjoyed your granddaughter's HS play. Agreed about how kids enjoy the extra activities. And it's good for them. I applaud them and their efforts.

About your plant. You could put a plastic hanging plant water retainer (has plastic arms and hooks to put on rim of hanging basket) onto your hanging Impatiens planter then just add water into the clear plastic water retainer. They work great. House Wrens are pretty docile so every few days or so when you'd add water shouldn't bother her or the little ones. Impatiens are pretty good at recovering from not being watered for a bit. I'd give it a try. It sounds pretty.

This spring I had a robin build a nest in one of my holly bushes and she'd get annoyed with me when I had to mow past it. She'd fly off nest or around me if she was perching nearby but when I was done she'd return to nest. After 2 weeks I peeked at nest to see if empty yet so I could trim the bush. Two baby robins with big eyes were looking back at me! LOL So cute and had feathers. I waited another two weeks to check again. When I did the nest was empty. They had fledged. ;D

Puff, Definitely sounds like you're keeping busy outside too. Yes ma'am to taking breaks for me. You do the same taking breaks. I bet your veg garden looks nice turned over. Did you do your planting yet?

LB, You working from in office. Boring.

I'm busier than ever since school ended with two of my granddaughters. My son working means he's not available to drive them to meet friends at local pool or other places. Their mother doesn't have a car. I don't want them sitting around inside all day and it's important they socialize with friends so I fit the driving back and forth into my schedule.

My oldest granddaughter turns 15 next week and she really wants a job. She's going to apply to a store near her house that hires at 15 so she's going to apply I think. She missed first honors at school by 3 points. She's proud of herself saying she made 2nd honors as a freshman. She has her sights focused doing the same as a sophomore and already decided what college she wants to attend. The same university her uncle (my youngest son) got his degrees from. He's now a professor at App State N.C. and App just began studies in the field she's interested in. He's already helping and guiding her. She's a determined young woman.

I got off topic, anyway life is busy. June is busy for birthdays for family and already begun. Birthdays: June 2, 9, 15, 16, 18 and Father's Day 19th. Family dinners for each and party with friends for granddaughter turning 15 next week. Geez Louise!

jicaji, Thank you about all of the family celebrations. I have definitely been busy. Another birthday meal I'll be making tomorrow for oldest daughter. My oldest granddaughter and I went shopping today for decorations, plates etc for her birthday Wednesday. I'm definitely keeping busy this month so far and with my regular things I do too.

Bday dinner tomorrow for oldest daughter, Wed granddaughter Bday, Thursday husband's Bday, Saturday oldest son's Bday, Sunday Father's Day. ;D

My youngest daughter (43) was in ER today. She's the one with lupus. Final diagnosis is Pericarditis. Lupus inflamed her heart lining. SLE inflamed her lungs in the past also. My mother had lupus. Needless to say I hate lupus. After a long day she was treated at hospital and given a script for med to take all of the upcoming week and also follow-up with her lupus doctor.

Tomorrow's a new day so let's all make the best of it.

Appt for hotrod on Tuesday. I'll find out about the damages (?) then. 7:30 a.m. and I'll have to take reading material since my usual ride is gone. Not going to bother anyone else that early.

Nope, did not get much accomplished in yard or garden yesterday. So frustrating! I had my handyman show up for a couple needed fixes - biggest expense is all the $$$$ being lost when watering because of big leak. All gone; let's see what's next. He also worked on a couple other things - have to be glad he messed with other things I had planned.

Also did get my hair cut. Just went as I was. Funny. . .Beautician since about 1985, never saw me without my natural beauty. We laughed!!!! Now when I'm working outside I can get rid of the headband. It gave me a headache for more than 1 reason. Other funny was when my neighbors did a doubletake at my appearance - now no natural beauty on AND hair not blowstyled in anything deceit. Looked like that Ghar rescue kitty posted in other channel. Ugly.

LB....Yes, I am very proud of my granddaughter. The graduation was so nice and the weather perfect for it. There were 300+ kids graduating and the only down part was getting a parking spot. Luckily, we got there early, did get a parking spot pretty close to the HS football field where the graduation ceremony was held, so I didn't have to walk too far. I did take a cane....first time. And, we bought McDonalds with us for dinner which we ate in the car before walking to the field. Worked out well...

Quick update on daughter with lupus/diagnosed with Pericarditis. After strong injection of Prednisone in ER she was given an Rx to take for a week. It's a very high dose Pred so she hasn't been sleeping well but it's doing what it's supposed to and inflammation and heart rate much better. Prayers answered.

LB, Sweet you had an interview with a competitor.
If you like the company you interviewed with better I hope you get it.
Interesting about this Wednesday's pharma co interview and getting a case study 30 minute prior to interview.
Keep us updated. You're definitely not letting any grass grow under your feet with interviews. Good for you!

Sometimes when I have to run an errand and I definitely don't look my best is when I think I'm going to run into someone I know. That's when wearing a mask comes in handy. Lol
Good that you were able to get rid of your headband and resulting headaches. I agree they are a pain. I ended up wearing one during the lock down and salon closed. When I finally got to go in I said, "Cut and trim it good!" I'm sure we were all in that boat at that time.

LB, jicaji, Puff, How did you each of your areas do with the strong nasty storms that rolled through recently? My area got hit last night in PA. Geez the lightening was flashing everywhere and thunder sounded like mortars going off! Rain and winds hammered too.

Rosie my Rose of Sharon tree I rescued last summer is still tied
upright and full with new branches. One side still needs to fill out but not giving up yet.

You asked jicaji about her use of "the cane" for graduation ceremony. I first started using mine 2019 on a trip to Greece. (Be forewarned Europe is not to be taken lightly by those with any walking issues. It can be done, but be prepared.) I purchased my first stick when Tony decided not to go with me. Just for balance, comfort, and assistance I bought myself "my friend the stick". Doesn't sound so old and a nuisance, more of an affectionate nic.

Also - No there was no storm problems in my area. I'm actually about 15 miles south of tsk. Made a BIG difference this storm. She had a declared tornado (minor catagory 0 - never heard of that before?) winds of 85 and lots of damage. That was just west of her about 5 miles.

As I said earlier - Chicago is a mega area, let's change that to a big area. ::) We can have more than 1 forecast going on simultaneously.

Seems petty to some with all the real problems going on - but I really do appreciate license plate input/ideas by Oldguy & Lilbro. Kinda like a rock in your shoe. LOL

Canes ...I used a cane I think for abut a year. November 1 will be 2 years since I havent need one. I did use it for a few hours 1 day recently. They help bu I dont like them

WOW LB....100 pounds. That's wonderful.

Now, a sad story....The little tiny birds died in my hanging plant. I hadn't seen the mother for a few days and I looked into it today and saw they had died. I am so upset. I hadn't watered for awhile since I knew the nest was in there and saw the two little eggs, but I hardly ever saw the mom bird coming and going. Just once I saw her a few days ago and it appeared she had something in her beak to feed the little ones, but then she just flew away. jicaji, How did your air fryer shopping go? We have a Power XL. First time I tried the rotisserie for a whole chicken I got too large of a chicken than recommended. I tried anyway. lol

I slept in today. We went away again yesterday then returned last evening. Heat returns here today too. 90 today and tomorrow. I've gotten behind on my outside work and veg gardens because of not being here/us going away at times so I have no choice to go outside to get things done. Definitely will use sunscreen and water to drink.

LB....So many of my friends love theirs....I don't know if I'll be a fan....Got it really just to get rid of frying meats, ff, etc in oil. It bothers my husband when he eats regular fried chicken, burgers, chops, etc. So....we'll see. I have to learn how to use it first. I like the idea of the two temp. controls which can be used simultaneously.

VERY warm day today. Going to the 90's I'm told.

Unfortunately lantern flies have arrived and are on and in our grape arbor. It's large and wide and you can walk under it. It's full of leaves and grape clusters. So much so I don't know if we can treat the entire arbor it's high and wide. Darned lantern flies!!

Paulie....my grandmother had a grape arbor when I was very young. Loved it. We had a hammock under it and I remember taking my naps there with "our" dog Duke always by my hammock. My grandmother made delicious grape jam and grandfather made wine and the grapes were soooo good. Ahh, the memories. If only we could turn back time if just for a day ;)

Air fryer....Eh......I threw out an egg I tried to make in it. I guess I'll have to just keep trying a couple of days for different things BEFORE I SEND IT BACK....

We have one grape plant that hides the structure that guides the downspout from the garage over the sidewalk into our garden. The grapes are sour/sweet. My Mom used to make jam from them.
I solved two problems this year. We removed our Linden tree, which removed most of the Japanese Beetle problem. And I placed a leftover piece of siding between the garage siding and the sidewalk, to hide the garage foundation blocks from the flock of sparrows that liked to sit in the grape and then fly down to peck at the cement to get little stones for their gullets. We had to replace several blocks a couple years ago!

I hope you are right todays interview didnt go well as I thought it would but you never know. They wont know anything until after next week being its july 4 and some are off that week. I have another interview Friday I was wrking with a recruiter. THis one is 10 minutes frm me. so hopefully. I am so tired of interviews and tryng to get the day off or half day or doing during lunch etc. something needs to come up soon. It may not be until aft the week of july 4 being a holiday week. my company is off Monday ad Tueday so short week for me . I'll keep ypu posted

LB....Yes I did....Last night I made sweet potato fries in it and they came out great. Even better than fried. Tonight I'm going to try chicken drum sticks . They were cheap and I figured if I screw up, no biggy, I can just throw them out and not feel too bad about it.

Ya know, you'd be surprised about interviews. Sometimes when you think it didn't go well, it's just the opposite. Believe me, I've gone on PLENTY of interviews in my time. AND, once, believe it or not, they called me to tell me I got the job and I turned them down. They called back TWICE, offering me more money. I told them I'm not trying to hold them up for more money, I just didn't think I was a good fit. But, in the end I did accept and stayed for 10+ years LOL. So, ya never know LOL. Keep the faith.

Have a good day. Today is "spa" day for Rizzo. Getting his hair and nails done....He hates getting his nails cut. I think before we rescued him he must have had many bad experiences, including his nails. He also gets nervous getting picked up and held. I think since he's so little he may have been dropped by kids maybe?

BTW, I dread tomorrow's dentist appointment. I know it's going to be very expensive. I bet I need a root canal and crown.

PS Update....Dentist was a breeze. He just took out my very old gold filling, fixed a small cavity under it, and built up the tooth. He said if it doesn't work, then on to Plan B. Works for me LOL.

Update on lantern flies. They're worse. Today when I reached up to cut down a long grape fine stem growing into butterfly bush when it was falling down towards me it turned over, was full of lantern flies on the leaves and fell on me. Yuck! They landed on me. While trimming my rose bushes they are on them too .. both nymphs and adults.

My two oldest granddaughter's and I had fun together yesterday. I'll be going away for the day again tomorrow. Sunday is holiday cookout with family. I'll be back here soon.

LB...Sorry about IFF....Just wasn't for you. Something better is right around the corner. I KNOW. I also know how it feels to be turned down from an interview. BUT, keep in mind, it's their loss and hold your head high. When we moved from Long Island to here, I went on a whole bunch of interviews...Some never even bothered to call me back to let me know they didn't want me...Then, my first couple of years here I actually went through and left 5 jobs in the first year and a half until I found the job I liked and stayed for 10+ years until I retired. Oh well.... ONWARD to better things for you. Keep the faith.

BTW, I followed a recipe for doughnuts in the Air Fryer. I neglected to read the part of the recipe that said use FLAKED buttermilk biscuits. Big mistake, I bought the regular and they came out like frisbees. BUT, I ate a couple anyway....cinnamon and sugar sprinkled over them can even make frisbees taste good LOL. Breaded chicken cutlets tonight....We'll see....

Hi LB, I hope you slept good. Interesting about your going to sleep so early and feeling tired. This whole week so far I've been extra tired even getting in a nap during the day and sleeping late in the morning. Today I woke up at 10am! I don't ever do that! And my youngest granddaughter 7 yr who doesn't ever nap anymore took a nap at her day camp the other day. Seems like there's a lot of tiredness going around.

I went to see the orthopedic hoping to do a shot nope I was given the name of the surgeon and was told to make an appointment for a consultation. sigh. I might as well now. So do I do or not to do . He said these knee replacements last like 50 years now I am strong and should be able to handle the recovery if I am willing to do physical therapy. I LOVE PT. I do I really do LOL snce I have no work at my job (referring taking 1/2 my work away and not giving me more) it's good as time as now and especially since I met most of my deductibles ets. But do I hold off on looking for job?? I really need a job with more money and will I had more debt with surgery. I do have 100% disability he said i will be only out 3 weeks or however long I am able to get in or out of the car. I would have my left knee done first since that is worse The right knee did get worse. (But doesnt feel as bad) I just give up. I figure though I can get through the knee surgery just fine especialy after going through the achielles surgery where I couldnt walk. knee surgery they make you walk right away

It's my left knee as well but my right knee is getting painful too. I had the two get shots and then the Ortho Dr said that's it....next step for me would be surgery.

Important to know is when would your new health insurance coverage begin with a new employer? What would be covered? With a new insurance would knee replacement be considered pre-existing vs your current long standing one?

Yes jicaji it was a fun sleepover weekend with my youngest 7 yr old granddaughter. I cared for her daily her first 2 1/2 years. I cared for my oldest granddaughter a full 4 years. She's 15 now. I'm very close with them both. When Grace left with her parents today she cried because she didn't want to leave. Bless her heart. I promised another one soon. It was fun and busy. I'm exhausted and missing her already. :)

LB and jicaji, I thought of you both this morning because my left knee was swollen and hurt a lot I limped. After I took my morning Naprosyn I waited a bit then took 2 extra strength Tylenol and rubbed Voltaren Gel on knee. Lots of walking yesterday at park Fun Fest with Grace and other activities. My rheumatologist has told me for years to make an appointment when swollen with fluid behind the knee to have it drained. I haven't before and I'm not now either. I deal with it until it goes away. I'm not ready to hear what alternatives he suggests yet either. Yep I'm stubborn.

I am home this week Paulie. I totally forgot to post this mornig.
I cancelled the interview I have on WEdnesday since surgery is up in the air. Plus it's not company I was thrilled about so why waste time.

I started researching info on the knee replacemnt the surgeon recommended to me does surgeory where you can go home same day!!! I want that!!!!!! I went home after my achielles. which I didnt like how that was handled. But not sure if I would be. I woud need to qualify. I am de finsitly going to ask about that. Not sure what to do lot of my friends on FB sys go for it. I am still young and strong so recovery may be esier. I am tired od walking like a duck I want to go hiking I want to enjoy nature...

Okay to you cancelling interview this week because you have a big decision to make. Your current employer and medical insurance coverage are maybe better for you. Check it out.
You can possibly go home the same day after knee replacement?! What about recovery and PT? Also do you have stairs or are you on the first floor? First floor I think because you mentioned neighbors above you in the past. That's a good thing not having stairs. You'd get a dog walker for Cooper I'm thinking.
Very true about you being young and strong for recovery. That's a plus.
Keep doing your research and asking your doctor questions.
You've got a good attitude and outlook wanting to get out to enjoy nature.
That reminded me of your squirrels and Raggedy Ann! :)

LB. My ortho told me I "should" be able to go home after the surgery and do limited walking at first. I have stairs going to basement and up to second floor and he said "should" be no problem. PT also for a "few" months Sounds like for you it would be wiser to get the surgery done before going to a different job.... money wise.

LB, I think it sounds like having a consult and possible scheduling for your knee surgery is good timing now with your current employer from what you've said. Good about first floor and PT regardless if you stay overnight or go home the same day. Nice about walking Copper off your porch. So you don't have to bend there's tall poop scoopers with a handle to scoop up and bag so that way you won't have to bend.

I miss the days when they were younger and enjoyed playing on the floor with toys. Now it's being on phones, tik tok and teenage things. We tried doing a dance together for tik tok. That was interesting. Lots of laughter. I kept messing up at one part of it!

A couple months ago my oldest granddaughter 15 and I did a tik tok (that I didn't realize she was going to post) and she got over a thousand likes. Oh my!

Like I said before .. I miss the days when they were younger ... and me too!!

Beautiful warm sunny day here today. Need rain though.

Tomorrow me, my husband, our oldest daughter and her boyfriend are driving to western PA for what's called the Annual 100 Mile Yard Sale. Once we arrive in the western counties driving through all pretty small towns the yard sales begin. There's lots of them!! We've gone before. We'll continue along the way stopping finally where we have a cabin in the mountain to rest then go to the surrounding towns there. Lots of 'stuff' and delicious food at churches and local fire department. Yum! ;D

My husband and I say ..... Road Trip! And we're getting out of Dodge for a while. :)

Whew! Yesterday after working outside I was drenched with sweat so went straight into shower. Heavy rain and storms passed through here last night. Needed the rain. More possible storms today. Dewpoint 73. Tropical starts at 70. Definitely feels tropical. lol Better than ice and freezing temps for me.

I like your heat wave song. Well the way it looks in your post but not the actual heat wave. Definitely waaaay too hot everywhere in US and Europe too. 98 here now and tomorrow is to be triple digits.

While I was cleaning hummer feeder this morning "Peaches" (my husband named her) one of the hummers was flying back n forth at front window looking for it. She flew around to the back deck feeder. lol Then reappeared at front window when I was putting out the one with fresh nectar. This is definitely tropical Hummingbird weather.

I have no one to discuss with so I let it sit fesatering inside, its not about my knee surgery ghis has been going on for 6 months, I havent even spoken to surgeon to see if/when I can have yet. Its aboutt most of my working taking away and I have no work from atound 10 on some imes even 9 am . And no one seems to care I am worried I am borfed that is why I am rushing to have my surgery so I dont have to sit there pretending I have work I will be ou tnot worrying about having no work Having th eknee surgery is a valid w reason not working. Might as well do while I have time

Oh my gosh! Same here with squirrels eating tomatoes. I saw a beautiful large ripe tomato ready to pick this morning. It had two bites on the side I didn't see. >:(

jicaji, Geez your squirrels have ruined your tomatoes but your marigolds too! I understand you being done with that for this year. That's sad and definitely frustrating.

Squirrels at my veg garden are still doing the same with my tomatoes. We went out of town last Saturday for the day and as we were parked along side of house where veg gardens are when we got home there was a nice big green tomato laying on the road with bites taken from it. I'm thinking maybe it being so hot for so long, little to no rain, the nuts and berries on trees and whatever else squirrels eat aren't as available so they're eating whatever they can? Maybe?

Starting tomorrow another full week of 90s with little to no rain.

Puff, If you read this how are your veg gardens doing? Are you having similar issues this year?

Anyone else who visits here having issues this year?

My two oldest granddaughters 15 and 12 have covid again. They had it last September. They have the same terrible aches, sore throats, chills etc. Myy oldest granddaughter still cannot eat eggs since since she had it the first time and meat smelled nasty to her and she was just recently beginning to enjoy eating meat again.
One of the guys doing some work for us had covid last winter and still can't eat meat. He said his wife makes dinners for them and children but he makes himself a milkshake. He said all he wants to eat is a good steak but can't handle it yet.

Well calling it a night. Long day.

Another full week in the 90s. Today to be 90 not higher and lower humidity and dew point so going to try getting some outside work done today.
My trail cam in the back yard took a pic last night of a cute baby fox at feeding area. Looks like a puppy. One deer standing nearby.

We had a red fox den years ago in the "way back." The pups look like german shepherd pups to me. So playful. The mom was so vigilant in looking out for them.

Heat beat my butt working outside then again this evening watering everything.

Oh! There was one corn stalk growing in one of the veg gardens (wire fencing around it) I guess a squirrel planted or bird dropped loose corn I feed. It had 2 nice ears of corn that just ripened. When I was watering this evening I saw both ears of corn are gone ............

I'm calling it a night. Rest and sleep await.

I grew corn when we were living on LI. It was beautiful, UNTIL THE SQUIRRELS PICKED IT CLEAN.

LB hope your niece is doing OK now.

Another hot humid day. I'm over this summeer for sure.

jicaji, Yes my youngest granddaughter 7 and I had a fun weekend. Saturday evening I took her to the pool. It was still hot and humid but no sun beating down. She's a fish in water and she used the new tall double water slide! It was fun and we used the concession stand for food and water.

I hear ya about this long continuing high heat and humidity. I can't believe I'm saying this because I love summer but I'm looking forward to cooler temps now too.

Wow to squirrels eating all of your corn crop!

LB, What's been happening with you. I know you hate this heat. Are you still going to your consult next week for knee replacement?

My youngest granddaughter went home at 7pm last evening. I slept in today. LOL
Later today my two older granddaughters are coming and sleepover tonight. It's a previous sleepover that was already scheduled so I don't want to cancel on them. They're 15 and 13 (in two weeks) so they pretty much entertain themselves and we enjoy hanging out together therefore an easier sleepover.

Later this week my husband and I are planning a one day getaway road trip. Much needed! ;D

All 3 quotes are good I think.

Yesterday early evening I took my two oldest granddaughters to pool. Hot and humid. They had a blast. Concession stand too for Funnel Cakes. Delicious. My husband made us all spaghetti and meatballs afterward. Needless to say we all slept good. Lol

Yesterday's getaway was pleasant. My oldest granddaughter 15 went with me my husband. We had a nice day and returned in the evening.

Later this afternoon I leave again with my two daughters and youngest granddaughter 7 going to stay in Baltimore to visit Inner Harbor and the Aquarium. We've been there before so we know our way around and looking forward to it. We return Sunday.

Also this weekend (Saturday) my son and dil from NC will arrive here Saturday for a few days visit. A surprise visit and we're looking forward to that too. My husband will stay home to be here Saturday for them then I'll be home Sunday.

A busy weekend for sure!

The weekend at Inner Harbor was pleasant. Cooler weather helped. Lots of walking. My left knee is still swollen. Ugh.

I returned Sunday afternoon and enjoyed visiting with my son and dil from NC who arrived the day before. They left to return to NC this morning.
