It's pretty common that the southern tier states go earlier than the northern tier. All falcons in the midwestern United States have moved earlier, but falcons in Kentucky are earlier than falcons in Minnesota.

Off topic, but a raccoon climbed up and got FSV45. She(?) really fought it off. :(
-
What'd coon get????

Shep, it was one of the two 6 week old eaglets on the RRP/Xcel Fort St. Vrain nest in Platteville, CO :'(

Sorry Shep, I should have been more specific as to the nest. :-\

There is a St. Vrain thread here on pg 2
but nothing posted in 2022
odd a coon'd kill and eat a bird
-
1002 -- no pips in sight.
Update from RRP on Ft. St. Vrain....
Well Everyone I have no answers to most of our questions. According to Amy Ries from Raptor Resource Project FSV45 has not been found. Loose feathers were found in the area. We may never know how things played out. Thank you to any and everyone who rapidly responded. There were boots on the ground within 90 minutes. Nature can be unforgiving and sometimes we need to turn away. Please don’t speculate or “blame “ the raccoon.
Today, life goes on for this Eagle family and the hope of a successful fledge for FSV46. Tune in live
-
Thanks Nora
Remember Decorah eagles Coon War
The eagles ended up eating the racoon family
St Vrain was simply
payback
-
Those racoons were small compared to this one.
