3.45 am Song of the coyote pack
4.30 He's been nearby hooting, I saw him, but he hasnt brot her brekky yet - and SHE WANTS IT. She probly wants enuf for her and hatchling. He was in her tree then left, unknown why. Her hoot has changed so he knows egg is hatching.
6 am she finally gets up and flies over to him
She brings a morsel back to the nest

She keeps them under her and its hard to tell

Last night, chatters said there is definitely two owlets. There was two beaks reaching up to mom for food.
They are so low in the nest, I can only see the tops of their little fluff ball heads. ;D
Watching this cam, is making me homesick for Kansas. We spent 32 years in Mike's hometown of Salina and I'm missing it.

Mama owl is sitting up higher now as owlets are growing fast

I am still not getting a snip of owlets, but I did get Dad bringing a snack
3 pm Mom groomed herself and I got peeks at the white fluffy owlets wiggling beneath her.
Maybe tomorrow they'll show themselves - I hope

Overnite owls

This morning I looked at the overnite and took 4 pics.
The owlets can be seen now - but are huddled, hard to discern.
Mom showed up with a rat which one owlet tried to down whole - unsuccessfully.
5.30 am Dad comes with prey
I dont think their eyes are open yet.
March 9 both hatched
Baby owlets eyes will open 10-12 days after they hatch.

They are growing
Their eyes are starting to open
They have HUGE mouths! :o

Mom went out to hunt but returned empty. She may have needed to eat herself! She went out twice and returned with nothing. Clyde showed up at the nest with one tiny mouse which one hungry owlet gobbled down whole.
Mom left nest about noon for a long time, returned with a long snake. ::)
Owlets beginning to get feathers, eyes beginning to open, they are looking around

Pretty quiet in the nest.
Kids still arent moving around. At first today I didnt see them and thot they'd fallen out. When they start branching they often fall - but dont worry - they dont get hurt.

The Dad is very invested in his kids. He did not bring food.
I have seen males owls hand off a rat to his kids.
Others think it was Mom - so whooo knows
They said Mom fed rat to one owlet, so one is hungry

They are roaming the nest now

OWLS STOLE EAGLE NEST
Kansas Bethel College Choir Sings to the Great Horned Owls.
The owlets enjoyed it. Farmer Derek is lucky Bonnie didnt take his friendly cat!

I think she is indicating owlets to follow

3 am Mom on the branch she wants her babies to jump on - thats their next step. I think it will be soon.

This is where I believe Mom has been trying to coax them

Kids are still here but flying from nest to branches and back.
DAD made a visit to the nest with prey. Its not common for Dad to feed kids - but they ARE VERY invested in their young.
I see I really mis-splelled owlets on pic :-[

Kansas Bald Eagles Willie and Marie are a young couple who built a nest on Farmer Derek's farm. Bonnie and Clyde are two great horned owls that stole the nest. Owlets born March 7. (https://www.glitter-graphics.com)
