The beak on that juvie/sub adult didn't look very yellow yet.

Great pics here today, MpMom. Thanks! So nice to see both eagles, and that's such a great-looking and symmetrical nest. I really love that "I'm coming" pic, too. :)

It was reported there was a hatch. Mamma better stay sitting or the new one will blow away. Horrible wind here in Iowa again today,we even had some snow spitting and a freeze warning.

Hi Sam! I turned the cam off, I can't see in the anyway. I'll get a snip when we can see the baby.

Thanks All for news, updates, pics and such. Exciting to hear news of a hatch underway here! :) :-* Talons crossed for success. Hope this new blast of winter weather blows through quickly without creating trouble and spring-like weather returns ASAP... It's unfortunate that the live cam view is so severely blocked by that branch.

Here we go ;D

YAY! HAPPY FOR THE HATCH! :D :-*
MpMom, you did great getting the snips of the new hatchling! I love that last one of the new little eaglet looking up through the "V" in that branch! :) Hope you waved back! ;) :D Thanks for capturing and sharing your screen caps! :)

It took quite awhile to get these screen shots as Mom was a better door than a window.
And, after watching and waiting for good views of the Es, it turns out that this Alpha Eaglet is a Big Bonker and needs to be food stuffed into a coma to feed the little E.

I don't follow this nest, but I came across this article about naming the eaglets:
RIVERDALE, Iowa (KWQC) ? Voting is now open to name the eaglets in the Alcoa EagleCam eaglets.
Alcoa opened voting on Monday to name the baby eagles. Voters can vote once a day, and there will be daily updates of the leading names.
The winning names will be announced on Tuesday, May 10.
Sorry, but Eagle McEagleface is not an option this year. These are the names voters can choose from:
Hunter & Fisher
Star & Sky
Sheldon & Amy
Pilgrim & Valor
Scout & Talon
Patriot & Joy

Say Hello to Star & Sky
The voting is over and the two Alcoa EagleCam eaglets for 2016 will now be known by the names Star and Sky. With nearly 5,000 votes almost 30% went to this pair of names. In keeping with our past practice Star will be the first hatch and Sky will be the second hatched

Alcoa helped fund this project with a $25K grant in 2015. Alcoa has its hands in the manufacture of wind turbines. Alcoa has a branded eagle cam. I think these 3 facts are related.

I wonder if Amy, and RRP, are aware of this? T40, did you email this to Amy? I think this article is very interesting, especially also in light of the pending "30-year take rule" legislation.
-
No, I didn't email Amy. Personally, I was mystified as to how they're going to use the tracking data to prove or disprove their hypothesis. If the juvies aren't killed by wind turbines, then wind power is OK? Or if they are, turbines are bad? What if they never go near a wind energy installation? What use are the data then? It was a short article and the entire research program couldn't be spelled out, of course, but there seem to be problems with the premise.
-
T40, I had a lot of questions about that project, too!!!

The Alcoa nest had a series of storms pass thru yesterday afternoon (Wed). It knocked out the power for the cams - they are still offline this morning. Both eaglets left the nest during the storms. They were both found on the ground around 6:30pm - appearing ok
For more details, checkout the official web page

Just posted:
"This morning a team from the local office of U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service helped put our pair on a branch of a multi branch tree just west of the parking lot at the nest site." ................
Hopeful that the parents will feed them in this tree for the week it will take before they get full feather growth and will be able to fly back to the nest.
-
Thanks fpr the report about the storms and the eaglets, oldguy!
I used the link from your post to read several updates there. It says that both parents visited the damaged nest this morning and both kids were still in the tree where they had been placed after being picked up from the ground. There are wonderful posts at your link with additional info and updates, and also posts from others with some pics.
I'm so glad to read that both the kids have moved to other branches in the same tree where they were placed yesterday and seemed to be okay after last check. :-* :-*
So, I'm repeating your link for others to see the news and updates and pics at:
http://www.alcoa.com/locations/usa_davenport/en/info_page/eaglecam.asp
I copy/pasted the two most recent updates as of this time from that link below - the first one is from last evening, and the second one below is from this morning (copyright Alcoa Inc.) :

Eaglets Still in Temporary Tree
I just came back from checking on Star & Sky. They are still in the tree they were placed in this morning by USF&W. Each one has moved up a little higher and to some slightly smaller branches and both looked good. I did see both Liberty and Justice in the area so I think they are still in good hands for now until they can fly on their own.

Staying Put For Now
It was great to see Liberty and Justice stop in the nest for a while this morning. It will be interesting to see if/when they attempt any repairs to the damaged nest. Clearly their focus for right now is on Star and Sky and getting them to a point where they can fly.
Speaking of Star and Sky, it appears they have stayed in the tree where they were placed yesterday. I will go down there later today to check on them. Below is the last 24 hours telemetry. Keep in mind there are a few erroneous data points as they move to more densely leafed areas of this tree.

Today's gps data map and a shot of the visitors to the nest this morning. Update from John this morning is that this map is the last for 2 weeks done by WVU. John will update us during this time. Eagle calls frequently heard on nest mic. Star is 11 weeks old today, so should start real flight soon.
-
Thanks, oldguy. The juvies look so beautiful! Talons crossed that they continue to do well. :) :-* :-* In the maps, how can I tell which dot is the real "last known position?" In your reference to "John," is that John Howe, of RRP, or someone else?
-
Hi baz - John is an Alcoa employee that oversees the Eagle nest operations. I have not been able to identify the dot for last known location either. And John will be doing the data maps for the next 2 weeks and he mentioned that he has not figured out how to color code the data points, so they will be confusing with both sets the same color. Late yesterday John posted 4 photos of Sky on the ground near the nest tree and then flying at 4-5 ft off the ground to a tree about 250 ft away. Photos were taken over the noon hour on Friday (6-24-16)
The parents have been eating on the nest the past 2 days - consensus is they are trying to get the kids to come back to the nest. I am including a screen cap from this evening just before 8pm of a parent eating in the nest. :) Watchers report that they are hearing both Sky & Star chatting and squeeing for food when the Ps are in the area.
Otherwise regular watchers have footage showing the edge of the nest falling off. I guess we will have to wait for October to find out if J & L continue building at this nest or move elsewhere. :-\
Overall, the eaglets seem to be growing, getting feed and improving their flight skills. Expecting both to be back in the tree tops sometime this week. :D ;D 8)

oldguy, oh wow, thank you for all that great info and update report!! LOL on "last known postiion" - maybe it should say "previously known positions" - :D :D :D Just kidding... And thanks for filling me in on who "John" is... I figured it couldn't be John Howe, but I guess stranger things have happened. ;) It sure is nice to get reports that both Star and Sky are managing well so far. I hope the parents will be successful in luring both kids back up to the nest soon. It would be nice to know the "kids" have attained more advanced flying abilities, and they sure will be safer when they can fly and perch and roost higher. I hope they will stay safe till then. :-* :-* :-* :-* It will be interesting to see what the next nesting season brings here in terms of either a re-building of the existing nest, or building a new one. Thanks again, oldguy! :)
-
Not much to update on news - Star & Sky are still going from tree to tree in the area of the nest. There has been reports of seeing them on the tree top view cam today that had been zoomed out for widest view. I caught a cap. of one of them perched in the nest tree to the left and below the nest - not a very good cap. - but was able to see it move its head about in live action. this was about 4:30 to 4:45 pm today.
-
Well, we have one of them back to the nest. :o ;D 8) Watchers believe it to be Sky. (cap1) Mom brought a fish early this morning and nibbled at it. (cap2) Sky came to the nest and took it away from Mom and ate it all. Then proceeded to repair the nest rail and (cap3) then laid down for a well deserved nap. (cap4) About 11 Sky got up and worked on the nest for a few minutes before laying down again. ::)
-
Star finally returned to the nest on Sat afternoon - flying in with out problem. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
oldguy, thank you for your updates and pics! :) I'm so excited to hear that both Star and Sky have been seen returning to the nest since fledge. :) :-* :-*
-
Yes, thanks for posting updates here. I'm a lurker, but very much appreciate reading what's posted. This forum has been missing some others who had been posting before, so glad to see others posting.
-
Thanks baz & corky2
Sky has remained on the nest or perched on a nearby limb since making it back to the nest on Thursday morning. One of the regulars reported seeing Sky fly out towards the river and then coming back to perch on the bare branch just beyond the nest tree on the TTV cam until a parent brought food to the nest on Saturday. Star first landed on the nest Saturday shortly after noon nest time. Star has come and gone from cam view since then. On Friday, Sky was brought 2 fish and 2 unidentified snacks, which was quickly devoured. So the 2 are definitely being well feed.
Both have been quietly chilling out at the nest this afternoon - below is 2 captures from around 4pm
enjoy
-
Oldguy, Great pics and update. Thanks! :D
-
Thanks oldguy! :)
-
Not much has changed in the last few days. Both enjoyed/survived the storms this week. The weekend is forecast for temps to get into the mid 80's with partly cloudy skies and no rain.
Both have been coming and going from the nest, but eating at the nest. Take off and landings seem to be smooth. Expecting them to start exploring further from the nest over the next week.
Below is a capture as both were finishing up a meal around 6pm and the GPS maps from this morning.
-
Thanks so much for your posts and updates, oldguy! I'm so glad to see both the juvies doing so well here. :) :-* :-*
-
A new update today on the Alcoa site. New activity maps from the last 24 hr period ending at 6am July 14th.
The pair has been spending less time on the nest this week, so getting screen shots is getting hard. It is expected that the pair will continue to expand their exploring over the next week and to spend less time in the nest as they travel to new and exciting perches along the river.
-
I'm so excited for them! Thanks for that update, oldguy!

This is tracking maps from Thursday 10/13/16
The left one is for Star - north of Wisconsin Dells area East of Petenwell Lake and south of Wisconsin Rapids. near hwy 13
the right map is Sky - traveling the Illinois River, east of Hannibal MO
Ken from the Alcoa Twitter page wrote - Star is 183.26 air miles north of the Alcoa Nest. Sky is 130.25 air miles south of the Alcoa nest. So they are approximately 313 air miles apart.

Thanks, OLDGUY!

;)
-
Thanks, MpMom! I see an eag'es back and tail there! :D It's good to know they are visiting regularly and busily working on the nest. :) :-* :-*
So I'm guessing that's as close as they can zoom in on the new nest with the cam, and that they can't tilt the camera any further to see the whole nest surface, even from afar. At least we can see some of the nest and some of the activity around it. :) Hopefully there will be eggs and hatchlings, and maybe we will be able to see some of that in the new nest from the cam. Maybe there will be some pics posted by people who visit the nest area, too, though I don't suppose they would be able to get any views into the nest in person. Very pretty there this time of year.
-
;)
-
Thanks, Mp! :) I see they got a closer view of the nest. Love your s'caps!
-
;)
-
The cams have been readjusted to better view the new nest. They have also added 720 resolution for viewing. 8)
-
Morning Oldguy!!
-
;)
-
We have more changes going on for this cam site. First a new web site (started today) - the old address will auto forward you to the new address for a while - don't know for how long.
The Davenport plant is now a new division of Alcoa and is called Arconic - so the new web page is http://www.arconic.com/global/en/who-we-are/eagle-cam.asp
The Cam screens are now side by side and larger. A new cam has been ordered and will still be installed this fall when it arrives.
-
I was surprised to see the change this morning Oldguy ;)
-
;)
-
They got the cameras updated this past weekend. Still only broadcasting 2 cams. They installed a new cam with IR lamp for the nest view. The old nest view is still in the tree, so they may use it for a backup if needed. The new cam went live Monday 11-14
Sky & Star have remained in their general areas for the past several weeks.
Here is a view from the new cam after dark now
-
Thanks, MpMom and oldguy! So nice to have that wonderful IR night view of the nest now, too!

Wow Oldguy!!! That is some video! I'll be gone before our future is like that :o
-
MpMom, love that eagle with the black headfeathers! So pretty and must be a 4 1/2 to nearly-5-year old, you think? You got some great s'caps of him/her!
Hi oldguy! I only have a few seconds here trying to do a quick Forum nest thread roundup - only have a few minutes and will ened to come abck to see your video. Thanks.
-
Hi Baz! I think it is really close to 5 ;D
Nest cam isn't working for me today :-\
Cam working now but very windy
-
I'm a little late checking back to this nest. TY for the pics and updates. Nice to see the new nest etc. Haven't spotted any eagles yet but I just want to ask are Liberty and Justice still there? I saw the pics of the young adult and wondered if just a visitor or a resident??
-
Liberty & Justice are the ones working on the new nest. They have been working on it almost every day. The old one was rotting out and starting to fall apart. The sub-adult that was seen last Friday may have been one of Liberty & Justices off spring, since it did not get an escort out of the nest area. ::)

Hi Quiet & Oldguy!!!

Great pics MpMom! from the time stamps on the pics I can see that the Eagles like to do their work early- a bit too early for me ;) - so I do appreciate your pics!

Hi Quiet!! They are early birds :D

:D I saw them MpMom! They are on the nest now must be a day off -they aren't working just looking ;). Very crisp pic on this cam and nice nest views from both cams. Will be fun to watch this year.

YW Baz!!

;D Hard to spot ;) but Eagle is there. Seems to be a favorite perch-just wish the cam was viewing another few inches to the right.
-
Good catch, QE! :)
-
Glad you caught them quiet! I have been watching but no showing :-\
-
Sky & Star have been on the move.
Star (who spent the fall in central Wis.) has made it back to the Mississippi - after almost 4 weeks of no contacts - was last reported on Sunday (18th), on the Wapsipinicon, just north of the Alcoa nest and working south.
Sky has moved north (first report in 4 days) on the 15th spending time on Carlyle Resevoir straight E of St. Louis.
Both transmitters reported low batteries on their last communication. This is the cost of using a smaller backpack - insufficient light to recharge the battery at this time of year and cloudy weather.
-
Oldguy, thank you for the kids report ;D
Wish Star would move closer to the WI/MN border where I am or maybe I will see Sky when we head to Missouri ;D

See you all after the 1st of the year ;D
-
Happy New Year to all here - looks like Amy has started the transition to 2017 threads.
The last update from Alcoa was on Christmas Day.
Sky was still down in Illinois on Carlyle Resevoir.
Star was still on the Wapsipinicon River between Dewit and McCausland.
M & D have been working on & off on the nest
Thinking that the 2017 thread should change title to reflect the change of name for the Cam website.
Arconic Eagle Nest - Davenport Iowa

-
oldguy, thanks for the update. :)
MpMom, nice s'cap... and the sun is shining there in your pic! :D P.S. I see you updated the thread title to indicate the new name change from "Alcoa" to "Arconic." :) And thanks for leaving the "Alcoa" in parentheses in the thread title, for people like me who still may look for that word to find this nest, or still think of this nest as "Alcoa" - and also for historical reasons since this thread contains posts for previous years when this was still referred to as "Alcoa." :) :D
-
Waiting for a couple of days for the cam to work :-\
-
;)
-
MpMom, yay! the cam is working and you found someone home! Thanks! :D Do you think that is just "stuff" on the beak near the right nare? The focus didn't seem great, but it looks like something on the right side of the upper beak - maybe just some smudged leftovers.
-
An updated was posted on Monday by John from Arconic -
"Below is a tracking map from Star's travel today. It appears she made a very brief stop at the nest today before crossing the river and heading over to the Rock River in Moline, Illinois. I have attached a zoom in showing the one point stop she made near the nest. It is clear she has found her way home. It will be interesting to see if she makes any additional stops back at her fledge nest in the coming days and weeks."

John also reported that the IR lamp has failed - they are going to attempt to buy a new one and replace it if it arrives before the first egg. They are also having issues with the sound - they have it at the on site computer, but it will not stream. They are going to bring in a tech to investigate.
This nest usually has first egg in Mid to late Feb - usually within a week of Decorah.
-
Thank you Oldguy! Sorry I missed Star, cam wouldn't work for me. I was trying!
-
There has been no updated info from John at Arconic since Feb 1. The cam has been having streaming issues, that are affecting sound and picture. If you are lucky, you may get a still picture when opening the site, but it then goes black. I was lucky today and got this screen shot before it stopped. :o :o ::)
-
The cams are working this morning and either L or J is on watch. ;D
-
Got an update on the maps last night. Sky has remained in the same area east of St. Louis in the region of Carlyle Reservoir. Star has continued to head south into Illinois - was about 15 miles SE of Galesburg. This puts Star and Sky about 160 miles apart.
The nest appears to be close to ready, with L & J spending more time in or near the nest. Sometime this week for first egg is within the historical time line. So it is getting close. 8)

-
They have announced that the second egg has arrived this afternoon. Some chatters were able to see both eggs this afternoon.
New reports for Sky and Star show they are still in the same area as last report.
Mom got up to roll the eggs - the light does not illuminate the bottom of the nest - so was unable to see the eggs.
-
Morning Oldguy!
I heard about the 2nd egg. To bad we can't see them. I love your pics!!!!
-
Reports from viewers is that egg three was laid last night. - problem is that the bole is so deep, that even without J or L on the nest - you can not see any eggs. Unless L & J do some renovations to the nest bole - we may not see anything until after hatch and they grow big enough to be seen over the side rails. :'(
John reported that the synchronization problems between cam views is with the poor connection quality with Mediacom.
Sound issues is an ongoing problem with hardware.
-
3 egglets :o Thank you Oldguy!!!
They will be grown when we see them :D :D

-
Great - I could not get more than a few seconds of cam at a time and gave up - I just monitored the chat - I could not get the cam to rewind at all :'(
-
Really irritating Oldguy. But I did see it move before it went crazy again. :-\
-
Here is a video posted by one of the chatters on the cam site - https://twitter.com/mavisj1/status/845056824147660800 - showing the top fuzz of the eaglet's head
-
Thank you Oldguy. Yep I saw the little head ;D

;)
-
It looks like Mediacom has finally gotten the upload working for the cams. The rewind goes back 3.5 hours now instead of 2 - 3 minutes. ;D
Mom has been digging down into the nest to make more room for the eaglet. Reports of pip sighting on the next egg - hatch schedule would be expected for Sunday.

They're so darned cute. Is this the link you're using?
I found this from Nov. 2016:
Eagle parents Liberty and Justice have decided to build a new nest this year! It is close to the old nest and they installed a new upgraded cam that shows the new nest, yay! The new cam also includes night vision, something we haven?t had in the past at this eaglecam, so way cool! The cam we have come to know as the Alcoa Davenport cam is now part of Arconic. On Tuesday, November 1, Alcoa separated into two publicly traded companies. Davenport Works and Arconic. The cam is handled by Arconic. Their website also changed and the link has been updated on our eaglecam links page. Here is the new address: http://www.arconic.com/global/en/who-we-are/eagle-cam.asp

Great to see you Nora!!! Yep, that is the link I am using ;)

Hi Oldguy!!
Yes it is & Willi is the hungry one isn't she. She loves cake! I will pop in later.
Thank you!!
It is great to see the 3rd egglet!!!
-
Hey MP - you have at least 1 new eaglet on your birthday. Half of the shell has been tossed out of the bowl.

All 3 eaglets begging for a piece of fish this morning. #3 did not get much as the other 2 are a head taller and was getting in the way - but at least they did not bonk him as they have been bonking each other the last 3 days. Hopefully #3 will get enough food to grow a little stronger and thrive. This nest is known for both parents to team feed frequently. That should help #3 to get enough food.
17:30 update:
There have been several feedings today, with at least 1 of the feedings by both L & J. #3 is getting feed and the other 2 have not been doing much bonking.
-
I will forego any cam shots today, as the site is running very slowly.
L & J are getting feeding sessions in between the rain showers. The eaglets seem to be behaving themselves with only an occasional bonk. #3 even did a head twist on #1 :o - without getting bonked back.
Mp - hope you had a safe and uneventful trip back home today. ;) :)

Thank you Oldguy!!! I am home & settled back in ;)

WW JW - thanks for stopping in ;D
The Cams this morning are like a slow strobe light from disco days. ;) :( But the kids seem to be doing well. #1 and #2 still do a little bonking of each other, but does not seem to prevent any eaglet to get the food provided by L & J. :)
Weather is forecast to be wet for today and tomorrow with temps in the 40s to 50s - so typical eagle weather. ::)

A calm feeding around 5pm - the 3 eaglets managed to eat most of fish between them, before parent at the tail. No bonking and full crops all around. 8) All 3 are now into their dark grey jammies, so not spending much time under cover in this great weather. This nest is almost ready to start fledging. All have been branching for almost a week now.
Report came in Tuesday from last years pair - Both are near the southern shores of Lake Superior and only about 50 miles apart.
-
One of the eaglets left the nest yesterday afternoon - here is a quote from chat with a twitter link.
In this video as the eaglet jumps off the branch you can see him in the air next to the Arconic sign on the left side of sign. He then flaps his wings and ends up landing in a lower tree to the left. The one on the tp is watching him as he lands.

In this video you see the same as before but I extended the screen to the left. He jumps his wings are flapping and now watch the lower most left corner of the screen and you will see him land in a tree lower to the ground.

As of this morning he is still hidden somewhere and has not returned to the nest. Note: posted time is PDT on the chat board.
-
The wayward eaglet completed his fledge last evening at 6:36pm nest time. He is still at the nest this morning.
Eaglet #2 flew/hopped to a branch off camera and returned to the nest just before #1 returned.
-
And now we are down to only 1 in the nest. A second eaglet has fledged sometime Monday morning.
The focus on the cam is so poor that the cam has a hard time getting into focus with the wind blowing - so they have had problems reading the numbers on their bands. And they have not been able to get the nice sharp vids like Decorah, to be able to make any head characteristics comparisons for longer range IDs. So they don't know if they have fledged in hatch order or not. :(
update;
They were able to see the band/numbers around 1720 today on some closeup shots - but not the complete number.
-
They have confirmed that all 3 have now fledged. The last one was confirmed by its transmitter location that it went out past 3 trees before returning to the nest for a meal.
This is a closeup of the old nest today, after the storm damage last night.

Oh Oldguy, I sure am glad the kids have fledged & are safe!

Extreme cold the past few days at the nest - no sign of the Parents. Did have a juvenile stop by briefly at the nest yesterday.
The juveniles from this nest for the past 2 years have all checked in with their transmitters within the past 2 weeks. They are scattered - Star is in south central Wisconsin along the Blue river, Sky is now just north of Burlington, Iowa, Mercury is south and east of St. Louis, Gemini is south and west of Peoria, Illinois and Apollo is near Springfield, Missouri.
Happy New Year to all that visit here - should start to see some activity after the weather breaks.

This nest had it's first egg on Feb 16th - There has not been any additional eggs laid. The nest has been having more than 1 juvenile and a sub-adult landing on the edge of the nest several times. The video is not working any better than last year, with mostly spinning arrows. The site manager has not posted a new thread since the 16th. It has taken me 45 minutes to get this little bit of info and no good screen shots. I will not be doing many updates for this nest this year. :'(
-
Another nest has the season ending early. :'(
From the Arconic web site: March 19, 2018
Sad End To Nesting Season
I want to acknowledge what many of our viewers have seen since Friday.
Late Friday afternoon another eagle attacked Liberty while she was tending to her egg in the nest. The intruder was eventually driven off, but not before inflicting some wounds to Liberty. What we did not know at the time was the egg may have been damaged in the fight. Liberty and Justice continued to tend to the egg on Saturday. However, Saturday night they left the egg unattended and on Sunday the egg disappeared from view. I have seen what looks like at least part of the egg this morning, but I think it is unlikely the egg would be viable at this point. Liberty & Justice continue coming to the nest, but seem confused about this turn of events as well.
-

It has been a topsy turvy season for eagles this year. It just went weird Monday at the Arconic nest in Davenport.
http://www.kwqc.com/content/news/Goose-lays-egg-in-eagle-nest-480053433.html
And from the Arconic web page -
Crazy Stuff Going On
Just when I thought there would be nothing left to watch...it changes quickly. This nest seems to be for rent by the hour. Eagles in, then Geese in, then eagles in, then geese lay an egg, then eagles in...and it continues. Nothing we can do but watch and see what happens.
In the meantime Sky, Mercury and Gemini are having a reunion across the river from the nest.
It does appear that the goose and egg have been evicted from the nest, no sight of either this morning in the cam.
-
Updates on this nest for the 2019 season.
In Nov. 2018 a new camera and IR lamp were installed for improved viewing.
Sometime in the past couple of weeks, Arconic changed the web address for the cams/official chat ... it is now located at https://www.arconic.com/global/en/who-we-are/eagle-cam.asp
For anyone on Facebook, here is the un-official chat location https://www.facebook.com/groups/108382145999121/
An update on the locations of the 4 tracked eagles was also posted... 3 of them are within 25 miles of the nest and the 4th decided to go south for the winter - just southwest of Branson Mo.
I have not seen any comments about the live stream problems that made viewing difficult last year. so hoping for a better year.
This nest has laid first egg as early as 3rd week of Jan to as late as 3rd week of Feb.
-
Hi Oldguy! I have had the cam up for the past coupe of days, just waiting.
-
Good Morning MP - up early as usual I see. ;)
I am hoping that the live stream issues from last year have all been resolved for this year.

Info on Alcoa turned Arconic.
About Arconic Davenport Works, Iowa, USA---
Arconic Davenport Works has a longstanding commitment to the environment
The plant has conducted annual briefings for local environmental groups for the past 20 years
The plant has reduced air emissions by over 97% since 1988
The eagles nesting at Davenport Works hatched and fledged a pair of eaglets in 2010 and a single eaglet in 2011 and triplets in 2012. In 2013, two eaglets fledged-- and last season in the spring of 2014 one eaglet named Rudy was fledged.
The plant installed the original camera in November 2010 and installed a new camera in October 2011. Another new camera was installed at the end of 2012. We lost this cam due to a lightning strike and a temporary one was installed on a rented lift which was taken off line in mid July of 2013.
Since then-in September of 2013- the original cam has been replaced and a second cam with a long distance look at the nest was installed. Together these two cams offer us a very different look into the lives of this eagle family Two years ago, in 2015, the cams were upgraded and the views slightly changed. They were able to back it up and raise the angle a bit to get a little wider shot of the nest. In 2016 our pair built and moved to a new nearby nest. It is this nest that is now seen on the cams.
A pair of bald eagles joined the Arconic Davenport Works community in Iowa in 2009. They built their 7-foot nest on our 400-acre facility in a tree near the Mississippi River. In the spring of 2010 they fledged a pair of eaglets and later that year we installed our first Eaglecam. Employees and the community helped name the eagle parents Liberty and Justice. Since the spring of 2010, Liberty and Justice have fledged sixteen eaglets from this nest. The first two eaglets fledged in summer 2010 before we installed the camera and they were never named. The fourteen that have fledged since then are named: Freedom, Spirit, Faith, Hope, Honor, Glory, Rudy, Star, Sky, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Windy and Storm.
Since the camera was installed 35 million visitors from around the world have tuned in to witness an American icon, the bald eagle, developing live within this unique eco-system. In the fall and winter the eagles use the nest to eat and prepare the nest for the next season. Eagles nesting in Iowa typically lay eggs in mid-late February and the eggs hatch in mid-late March. The eaglets grow quickly and are ready to fly ?fledge? in late May or early June. Arconic is proud that our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability is helping conserve our precious natural resources.

Sad news. Honor was found near Rock Island. This group named him Honor. :'( :'(
Ok, there has a been a lot going on here at the nest. A male eagle showed up & he & Justice are both wanting Liberty. I hope Liberty chooses Justice. They have been together forever. So, the egglets are done for this year :'( :'(

MpMom, Thanks for all your posts to this site. I have been watching for many years and this nest has been so successful with its fledges over the years. How sad and confusing this year is.
Where have you found your information on Honor and other events going on at this nest? The link for the webcam I use hasn't had many updates. Is there a better place to find updates? Thanks so much!
-
Hi 3 Spaniels!
I like you have watched for years. Have always loved them.
I found the information on a different FB. I had to search but found this...
https://www.facebook.com/groups/108382145999121/
I'm glad you popped on here!!!

Thanks for the Welcome and the Facebook link, MP. I'm not a FB member, so am glad this is a public page. I just need to learn how to navigate the information/pages. It seems like any details about Honor have been removed except for the quote you listed. Puzzling? I'm guessing he may have suffered from lead poisoning, or perhaps was shot.
Liberty tried her best to fight off this intruder. I, too, would like to see this pair remain together. I guess time will tell.
-
You are welcome! I don't do FB either & was glad to find the link I posted so we can at least see updated info.
I know it is how it goes at nest but I still feel bad here. The eggs would have hatched the 1st week of April.
Sad.

The nest has finally gone live. https://livestream.com/alcoa/eaglecam
After many years of Liberty & Justice, it is over. The fight in the spring with the new male & Justice, the new male has won Liberty. FB said they have bonded-hope they show up today.

MP, thanks so much for the info on this nest. I had been a faithful watcher in the past.
However, I do have a question on how you are able to access the nest cam through the link you posted: https://livestream.com/alcoa/eaglecam
I may be doing something wrong, or am no longer set up to access this cam. I get a couple of different errors when I click on the link. One is a gray screen saying it Ended January 31,2018. If I click on "Watch Again" on that same gray screen, I get an old recorded video. What is the magic thing to do to get to the live cam?
Thanks for your help.

You are welcome 3S! Crazy cam, sometimes it is live & sometimes not :-\

MP, Thanks for letting me know it's not me-it's the cam! I just clicked on the link now, and it's live. So, I guess we just hope for the best with the cam staying live.

MP, Thanks for your posts!
I've been away for the last week, so am first catching up to see the captures you posted on the 5th and 6th of the fly-ins and outs, as well as some wing stretches. Great pictures!
Looks like a bit of confusion is still happening at this nest--I'm not convinced that's the same male either. Hope all goes well for this nest this year.

MP, Thanks for posting in here. I don't get around to watching this nest very often, so appreciate your updates. Hoping this nest has overcome the troubles it had last year and it will be successful as it had been in the past
I don't get to this site and others in a timely manner because my notifications have not been working since October. Funny how when I have to manually go looking for the updates, I don't seem to do it as often :(. I can't seem to figure out what caused them to stop, even though "notify" is still turned on for all those topics I've been reading for many years.

MpMom, their FB page says she was was knocked out of the nest and on the ground. Rehabbers checked her out and she is fine. Expected that adults will care for her on the ground.
