Rain delay and inside now E4E.  But it's stopping -- four things on list for next break in the rain action -- seed fill for birds, put out rain gauge for the season, water the plants for those protected and that don't get much at all, add more jelly to the oriole feeder (I wonder who is getting to it, haven't seen anyone yet.

Busy inside too, talking to the forum group.   :-*   Here comes the rain again!
Oooops time for Fox and Trib news.

I missed the chat discussion about talon paining, but I remember D33, and wasn't it done to tell which was which when several young recovering eagles were in the same flight cage at SOAR?

Rain brings out the dinosaur-looks for eagles.  Is this the first soaking rain since DH2 could thermo-regulate?

Lisa -- I just love this pic of DH2.  Looks so woebegone.

I remember D33 - actually remember most of 2010-DH2.  We frequently made plans to have someone go up and manicure an eaglet. Just funning STL.  Forgot   ;D

Puff, every time there are two or three eaglets in a nest, there comes the time when it's almost impossible to tell which is which.  We inspect tail feathers, wing feathers, beaks, eyeballs, overall size.  And we wish for nametags, and painted labels.  Oh, and we listen to their voices -- remember the two at DNN last year had very distinctive tones.

Peregrine banding of chicks will happen at the end of May.  Have you heard of any eagle banding plans?

Yep, same ole, same ole fun suggestions.  Know the routine.  Seriously, the only legitimate banding I've heard of is the survivor of the nest tie-up.  Haven't had a followup on the one they left in the tree.  Tears of course for the one they couldn't help.  They tried; maybe because of their actions and learning, maybe they'll make a more prudent/quicker decision next time and get a happier result.

STL - You remember D33 exactly right. DN9 was also at SOAR then, as were 2 other eagle patients from Iowa. So it was a full flight pen of patients to keep track of and they found a very clever solution in the talon polish.

DH2 is hanging out at the edge of the nest.  If not for those emerging tail feathers, I couldn't tell which end is which!

HD doing the best he can in this rain trying to keep DH2 somewhat dry.  I have noticed HD is shivering.
