Lisa, are they teasing us?  Or could they be planning a grand Christmas present by re-locating to N1 or even N2B?  Time will tell.

I hope its the grand Christmas present by re-locating to N1  ;D

Yesterday morning, a RT was perched on pine by visitors center, flew down and got some prey.

Lisa, great pics of HM!  Could she have been raiding N1 for nesting materials?  I didn't see where she got it on the rewind.  Anyhow, she dropped the grasses to pick up the stick before flying off to who-knows-where.  Endless entertainment that sure beats doing housework!

Iowa’s bald eagle counts return to normal in 2023 after bird flu outbreaks in 2022 - https://www.thegazette.com/community/iowas-bald-eagle-counts-return-to-normal-in-2023-after-bird-flu-outbreaks-in-2022/

Three eaglets — D34, D35 and D36 — look around from their nest overlooking a Decorah fish hatchery in this undated photo by the Raptor Resource Project in Decorah. This year’s bald eagle survey in Iowa found an average 1.77 fledglings per nest, one of the highest rates in recent years, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Usually bald eagles lay only one to three eggs per season, but one volunteer observed one Iowa nest with four eaglets. (Raptor Resource Project)

HD perched in the pines by hatchery office last night, and flew out this morning.  Two different views of HM on N1 this morning above the cams.  She stayed for a while, and flew out.

Lisa, love that pic of HD and HM chattering to each other!

This morning, about 8:00, they were perching in the branches above N1.  Flew away and not seen since (11:30AM now).  But a hawk spent a while at the top of one of the horse pasture trees.

Does anyone know if the new nest is progressing well? It's getting late in the game for them to restore N1 if that other nest isn't shaping up.

lil - They still head over to the other side of the bluffs, so assuming the nest is taking shape.

Lisa, that was a big breakfish for HD this morning!  My pic was about 9:00.

Blackbirds and crows were busy near the pond and in maple tree branches about 8:00.  And a hawk in the branches above N1 about 10:00 (at first I thought a young sub-a BE, still not positive).  HM and HD in one of their trees at the base of the Pond bluffs at 11:00, then at posting time after 1:00, they are in the tree at the top of the bluffs (no pic).
