2 HATCHS!
May 21, 2022
2.15 pm  a shell appeared, Dad came in,
she had to leave and Dad saw his young.   :-*
A lil wet chicklet!

4.30 pm  Male has been in several times with a bloody rat, offers it. nope. takes it out again.  :D
I see another shell - hatch #2

Dad returns with snack. This time she takes it and feeds BOTH screaming hatchlings.

They are a nice pair. He is sooo attentive!
He keeps checking on her, vocalizing

I wonder if this is the same pair as last year.
Behavior is a little different.

They are sooo pretty

Same here SHEP.  I tried freeze framing and couldn't tell.  She is still doing a lot of shimmying.  Love the false eyes on the top of her head.  She is so beautiful.

Not sure what is going on but mom seems very upset with older chick.  She picked him up by wing and tossed him to the outside of her.  The chick seems to have a sore on its wing.  Mom just left to get food.  Have not seen the male for awhile.
#5 egg has not hatched and is visible now.  Maybe she is upset because male is not bringing food?

Finally, I saw dad deliver food this morning.  It must be raining very hard because he was soaking wet.  Still can't tell if the 5th egg hatched.  There were some egg shells in the corned that mom was eating with dad's food delivery.  I am relived to see dad.

This afternoon the smallest of the 4 kestrels has been over against the left wall away from the female and the other three. When prey was brought in, the little one is not being fed at all.  It was calling for food, but not making at attempt to move toward the others.

I've been checking it a few times a day; things have looked "normal" with all four being kept together and fed when I've looked.  I hope they're getting enough food.

Two are out of the box this morning.  Yesterday, Sunday June 19 I saw one in the exit hole, it may have gone then; I didn't see it last night, but all were up against the lower end of the box, so I wasn't sure.

I checked the box early this morning, before 3am your time.  #4 was huddled in the corner by himself.  He spent the evening yesterday looking out the hole and calling.  The live cam is off now.  I hope someone rescued him this morning.  I am thinking this was the youngest of the four and that he just wasn't quite ready to leave.  SHEP/LINDA, if you hear any news good or bad please let me know.

LINDA, remember when we were worried about #4 because he wasn't in the huddle when the first three were fed.  He was the runt of the hatch and seemed so small compared to the other three.  He had a lot of catching up to do and stuck in there.  He is a brave little fighter and I am so happy that he is flying free.  Any fledge is a good fledge.   ;)

Jaspur, yes, I seriously didn't think we'd see him again after that night; the poor little guy looked so pathetic. He really did seem to make an effort to hang in there, and he did great.  Hope to see them in the tree on the outdoor cam.

Mousing kindergarten is in session.   ;D. That is a nice spot to perch.  Thanks Shep

LINDA, I missed this at first.  Mom and Dad are perching on the top semi vertical branches.  The branch that SHEP is talking about is a horizontal branch quite a distance below and to the right of the tree.    There are two perched now.
