Dad feeding babies

Mom gets up from brooding the eaglets and Dad is right there for the change over. He comes over and looks lovingly at his babies...such a precious moment. He stands there for a few minutes watching then and then he goes to brood them - but they are wiggling underneath him! Dad gets back up and picks up some of the squirrel prey and begins to feed them both!! It was a beautiful feeding for our young first time Dad! I knew he would do this when he was alone on the nest!! Mom returns and takes over and broods them and Dad will fly off very proud of his accomplishment today!

It gets hard to watch those feedings sometimes when you see the smaller eaglet get missed. After watching for years, I know it usually always works out in the end, but in the back of my head I'm always thinking about that chance of losing one to sibling rivalry. I catch myself begging to parent to do an equal feeding every time.
