Hi everyone. Just to let you know that the camera is live for the 2017 season and the first egg arrived Sunday, April 2. The web address is http://thefalconsat33.com/ The 2017 pair is the same pair as in 2016: Triumph b/r 58/P(2013 fledge Mayo Clinic) and Genie b/r 22/X (2012 fledge Mayo building, UMN).
Some information on the site: This site hosted the FIRST successful fledge of a peregrine falcon in the upper Midwest since DDT took its toll on peregrines. This year we will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary for this wild fledge "Maude", and the banding (if all things go well) is open to the public to view. Go to the Midwest Peregrine Society facebook page for any event news, and I will try to keep things updated here as well.

The fourth egg arrived this morning, so looking at banding (if we have hatch) in early June. The Midwest Peregrine Society's Facebook page will post an event date when it is scheduled.
-
We are gearing up for a hatch in 2017, expected ~ May 13th. This site is memorable in many ways, but most importantly, it was the FIRST site to successfully fledge a peregrine in the Upper Midwest in 1987, post DDT. We are hoping to have a chick (or four!) celebrate that important 30th Anniversary in our recovery efforts.
-
We have our first hatch! When I figure out the banding schedulene, I'll make sure to let everyone know since this site is one where the banding is open to the public.
-
I was just able to confirm with everyone a date and time for banding: Friday, June 2 at noon in the Atrium area (street level). This banding is open to the public, so come join us in celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the FIRST successful hatch and fledge for a peregrine in the Upper Midwest, post DDT.

A pair of Peregrine Falcons perch on the top two rings of the circular light tower atop the Drury Plaza Hotel, 105 South St. Mary's St., on Friday, Jan 12, 2018. The pair of the wintering birds have apparently taken up residence in downtown San Antonio frequenting the Drury Plaza Hotel, Tower Life Building, Frost Bank Building and the Holiday Inn, where they hunt for prey, primarily pigeons, from high above the city. Pefgirl, do you happen to know if the birds at this nest are still Triumph and Genie?

Thanks for the update. With all of the field monitoring, it's been difficult to catch her off the eggs to get a final count.
FYI, it is the same pair as the last several years: Triumph and Geanie b/r 22/X

The cameras are now live once again. Pefgirl, has there been any sign of Triumph returning from migration yet? And have you seen Genie?

We have a new camera at the site, and the camera went live last night. We have had a lot of peregrine activity at the box this spring, including a fatal territorial battle over the weekend, by the current male Morse b/r N/45 and Chan b/r H/79, who had nested here in 2018. We are working with the management office on a redesign of the website, to include quite a bit more information about the site, and history of peregrines here. Stay tuned.

The first egg was laid sometime April 10 am. The camera is back up and running, but there are still a few glitches with the system. :-\

2nd egg is an easter egg

There are 3 eggs now, the cam keeps freezing up but there are for sure 3

Yes, unfortunately we are experiencing a lot of camera trouble this year. We are trying to work things remotely, but won't be doing anything with the camera itself until banding time. Thanks for your patience.
-
Hatch should happen any moment, with today being 34 days. Unfortunately, the camera is still giving us problems.
-
At least 3 hatched overnight!

FYI, these are Mayo chicks not the Multifoods brood.

The web camera is live for the 2022 season. A pair have been observed at the site since the first week in May. Geanie b/r 22/X is the returning female, and she is paired with yet again a new tiercel. We only have a partial band read so far, and he's more shy than the last few males we've had nest at the site. Because this site is one of the most premier in the state, we have a fairly high turnover on occupancy and regular mortality of peregrines fighting for possession of the site.
-
First egg for the 2022 season arrived 4/7 at about 4 pm or so.
-
We had egg number 3 arrive on April 13th. Although things appeared fine yesterday, today it appears there may be a small dimple/divot in one of the eggs. Egg number 4 should arrive by tomorrow.
