You're welcome Jf. You can just see Mom's mind at work the whole time D12 was awol in that last vid. She didn't rest until he was back in that nest cup.

What a gal she is!!!

I never get tired of watching this video and of sharing it. Watch for the coordination between the eyes and the talons. And the wing spans - just incredible! Thank you for indulging me!

Faith - thanks so much for all of these wonderful Decorah videos. Many memories in these for sure.
On a little different note, here is one of my more favorite beautiful, peaceful, loving videos that I've ever seen. How I would love to be one of those observers...
http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=SkY03n0_sD8&vq=medium
-
Ohh Glog, thank you for posting that link. I had it bookmarked and had forgotten about it. It has to be one of the best penguin videos ever made.
-
I love the penguin vid! Even though it had such beautiful music behind it, my brain dove immediately to funny captions.
In one of the first shots where the adult is behind the youngun, it looked like they were getting organized for a family picture. That's what set me off.
-
Here's your weekly reminder about Earthflight! You can watch it online. http://video.pbs.org/video/2365089991/ (http://video.pbs.org/video/2365089991/)

I love this vid of mom displaying her charms! LOL

-
LOL, JF! "come on Dad, let's get with the program"
-
Beautiful, Pagent. Thanks for Judy Allen too. Yes....it is "magic" to watch these beautiful eagles, isn't it? ;)
-
Thank you, Pagent. Something I have noticed about the really great wildlife photographers and videographers we have been introduced to, through our love of their subject matter, is that the great ones seem to have a special quiet love, respect, and appreciation for the animals they photograph. It is almost like they become one with them from a distance.
-
Faith - so well said.
I want to share with all of you this video. Watch this amazing murmuration of starlings as they play my favorite song. I can only imagine seeing this in person:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eakKfY5aHmY
-
Murmuration of Starlings certainly is one of the most magical animal spectacles I've ever seen.
-
Beautiful, Glog
-
There's some slight pixelation throughout the video, but the video ends beautifully.
-
I just came across this in Facebook so want to share it. It's a Christian Sasse compilation of Eagles at Harrison Mills. 12 minutes of pure eagles and the music is relaxing and beautiful. There's some "Groucho Marx" walking thrown in too. ;)
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=309600612514848&set=vb.102799133194998&type=2&theater
-
Thanks glog. At about 10:50 into that vid, you can clearly see the choanal slit
-
Thank you, Glog! That was beautiful.
-
You know, we NEVER get tired of releases, watching raptors get that 2nd chance again to fly and soar and live. Some, unfortunately, never really get that chance due to their injuries. That's where us humans can step in, use our talents and skills and love for these beautiful raptors, and allow them to have their moment in time, like as if nothing bad ever happened to them.
Enjoy this hang gliding video about Osceola, the Hang Gliding Bald Eagle. Thanks to those who really do "make a difference".

Faith - outstanding!! The best version of Eagle by Abba that I've ever seen. Love all of the soaring and the acrobatic aerials and did I see some kettles? :o
-
Faith, that is a great video, thank you for posting it, I hadn't seen it in a while.
-
Faith, that's a great video! Thanks for posting. It's been a while since I've watched it.
-
I quickly looked through to see if this vid had been posted here. I didn't see it, but that doesn't mean it isn't here...lol
Vid is by Chico (June 2012) Mom is trying to push Dad out of the nest. Love that couple! lol

;D
-
Thank you Dobe and Chico! I loved it! Lol, there wasn't much shoulder room in that nest, and that was big N1!! :D I can't wait to see 5 eagles that size in N2 (well, that is if they stay true to form and have 3 eaglets).
-
Fun video, Dobe. TY. Poor Dad - always getting it from Mom! :D
Here are 2 neat videos of what's called the "Decorah Bike Trail" or "Trout Run Trail. You can see the beautiful Decorah countryside too.

This runs right past N2 which we see in our new camera view now. :)
-
Those videos make you want to get out on that trail and enjoy the Decorah countryside! Thank you, Glog!
-
ok...lol I'm up checking on Juliet at the NEFL nest. Still no 2nd egg. So I decided to peruse my library of videos. I decided I wanted to share with you all this next video because the 1st time I saw it, I found it to be beautiful and relaxing. You know, Nature has so much to offer us. We see and feel it in our Decorah Eagles. How wonderful it is to experience nature and all it has to give. Gifts beyond measure! So let's start off the day in one of the best ways possible...with nature.

If Juliet will lay egg #2, it should be today.
-
Thanks Glog, really beautiful!
-
ok, all. I was perusing my video bank here and found one many of you should enjoy. It should bring back memories for a lot of you. The 2011 nest. Our E2D1 Diva is in this one. It's a nice compilation from hatch to branching of the 3 E's. It also shows what great parents Mom and Dad were and still are as each year, they continue to produce beautiful and majestic offspring that we've come to admire and love. So sit back and enjoy and take a trip down memory lane.

Thanks for the vid, glog! Nice night cap for some SED.
Broncos lost. :(

What great memories. Thank you Glog! Since that was the first year I watched the adventure called The Decorah Eagles, those images are forever imbedded in my mind. :)

Thanks TW. Only thing missing on that was the new bridge over IA9 and a shot of the palisades across the river from downtown and Phelps Park, and....
Its a fantastic walking trail from the campground (Phelps Park) to the Walmart/Trout Run. Nearly level all the way.
I was an observer on Pulpit Rock the day they blasted "the cut", and some debris showered us more than a half mile away!
One of these days I'll haul my bike over there and try the whole 12 miles. For now, I'll drive over to the hatchery and walk the trail down to the nest. :P
-
Love that video, TW. Bookmarked it and TY. I would love to bike ride that trail....every inch of it.
-
Thank you, TW. There is something so peaceful about watching the those Trout Run Trail videos. I can only imagine what it's like to actually be biking on it.

I have to say that this was one of my all time favorite side splitting ROFLOL moments in chat when we all watched D12 consume the squirrel tail and then managed to stuff down the whole leg too.
Happy Thanksgiving to all and may we all push back from the table tomorrow feeling as satisfied as D12 on 4/29/2012!
-
LOL Eaglette, the leg, the tail and all. That was one way to secure a meal.
-
Thank you Eaglette. Watching these cams is never boring, is it? :)
-
Ok all. Since we're approaching the official season of Winter, I want to share this beautiful video of a Golden Eagle enjoying snowfall. "Storm" is at Pacific Northwest Raptors, another wonderful raptor rehab center located in Duncan, British Columbia. To really appreciate it, go Full Screen.

-
I've seen that vid of Storm, what a beautiful bird. Thanks for posting, glog.
-
Thank you, Glog. That video is among my 100's of favorites!
-
In keeping with all of this snowy weather (including our Decorah), I found this short video on Face Book yesterday. Love, Love, Love those beautiful wings! I also love the intensity in the Golden Eagle's eyes early on.

This has always been a favorite of mine. Ducklings leaping from the nest. I've often wondered if the parent ducks saw to it there would be a pile of leaves under that tree. :)

I love that vid Faith!

I've come here to this thread today as well as "From the Heart" thread to share with all of you what I consider to be a wonderful video. When I first saw this video I was touched. It's about bats. Yes, bats. I applaud any rehabbers like Bat World Sanctuary who literally save a life of an animal, whatever kind it is. Bats probably have gotten "a bum wrap" over the years because of Dracula movies but "Lil' Drac" will capture your heart. Enjoy!

For those who enjoy the PBS Nature documentaries and shows...
A new PBS Nature series (3-parts) started last night. The series is "Animal Homes" and the first show in that series aired last night for the first time. It is "The Nest" - all about bird nests of all different kinds around the world and how they are built and other info about bird nests. It was wonderful! PBS often repeats their Nature shows, so you may have another chance to see it on TV, but it is already available online. Just go to www.pbs.org and you will see the Nature series, and this first show in that series, titled, "The Nest." Or... use the direct link to that particular show via http://video.pbs.org/video/2365460608/ (You do not need to have an account or sign in to view this show online! I had to close the video screen on it with the "X" in the top right corner and then come back to the link to get the video to appear - but this may differ depending on device type and software you are using. It may just have been a delay though because every time I click on that direct link since then, the video of that TV show is available to view.) It's a wonderful show - 53 minutes long - and the PBS description reads as: "Bird nests come in all shapes and sizes, crafted from an inexhaustible diversity of materials. Each one is a remarkable work of art, built with just a beak! We begin with a museum collection of nests and branch out to scenes in the wild all over the world, where birds arrive at diverse nesting grounds to collect, compete for, reject, steal and begin to build with carefully selected materials." In the first 15 minutes it shows an male Osprey returning to Connecticut from migration to its former nest site on a piling. The nest is gone and the piling is completely bare, due to the nest having been destroyed by an October storm the previous Fall. The male Osprey starts building a brand new stick nest on the same spot as its old nest. His female mate fails to return from migration and he takes a new first-time-nester female mate who learns from the male. They also fend off a male intruder successfully. I mention that part of the show b/c it relates so much to watching our Decorah Bald Eagles Mom and Dad. It is also a great opportunity to see how a large Osprey stick nest (they are up to 400 lbs) is started and built by scratch on a piling without a platform. The show shows lots of other bird nests being constructed. Be sure to see the Australian Brush Turkey - which is not at all related to the American Turkey, though they appear similar - it has a wild and crazy (LOL) nest building, egg laying, incubation, and hatching process unlike any other I have ever known of in the world of birds!!! I won't give it away - you have to see it to believe it! Anyway, this show also talks about and gives demonstrations about the strength of nests, nest materials, interior views of some unusual nests, and more. It was a wonderful show and worth every minute to view it. I hope you enjoy it!
