I followed the link above and read that they only produce one chick every 3 years, but then I clicked on the picture in that article where a man is sitting next to the eagle, and that article said they reproduce every 2 years.  Either way, it's not quick enough to keep up with the deforestation and deliberate killings by ranchers, caused by lack of information.  It would be a tragedy to see this unique and powerful eagle become extinct someday - perhaps sooner than later.
