He will know when it kicks in next year. I've seen this a few times. She can't stay on an egglet 24hrs a day.

He is doing a good job so far MpMom!!!  I just checked the nest and he's on the egg keeping it warm.  What's the difference, if any, between incubation and brooding?

As nouns the difference between incubation and brooding

I love this pair. So much fun watching a first time dad, and those young black feathers on his head just make him unique. Also great for telling them apart. Need to enjoy it this year, as I'm sure that head will be snow white after this season.
