Raptor - that nest looks so small for a bald eagle nest?  Is it actually smaller, or just appears that way?  Thanks for the great videos - quite interesting!

Raptorfan, thanks for posting this.  We have a whole new nest to watch!  And tree I think it's both.  The nest seems to be smaller given the width when the adult was on the nest but the length is hard to tell from the camera angle and distortion.  Nests tend to be smaller in the early years.  The balds add up to 200 pounds of stuff per nesting year.  So this might be the first year.

Shuff is correct on judging the size, is it as big as Decorah? No but it has only  been up a couple of years. Students from the University of Oklahoma and Sutton Research built it and placed it there. The eagles liked it and started using it. They do have an alternate nest off camera that they used last season.   Smiley

Raptor, I am so excited to have this nest to follow.  Wonderful to see mom and dad sharing a meal together.  Tying the bonds together for the important things they need to do.  It's so interesting to see the nest suspended over the water.  Makes me think of Osprey nest areas.

I agree Shuff, and a few weeks ago an osprey was checking it out.  It was quickly chased away! lol

I can't do videos, that would be a lot better than these stills.

I think people may like that. I saw the bonding, but didn't know you had one of this too.
