Now here is an "ooh" and an "aah", old but just take a look.

Mother Of The Year? Dog Nurses Kittens

from CBS News

You can understand why some visitors to the Burlington, Iowa, humane society get a little freaked out. It's not everyday you see a dog have a kitten for lunch.

I know we have had a rather mild winter in some parts of the country; but others haven't so please keep in mind.

Amen! Please report any animals being left outside without proper shelter and water. Contact your local ASPCA, Humane Society and ask for their guidelines on this subject.

Just accidentally came across an article with a slideshow showing the pit bulls rescued after the Michael Vick fiasco. I have thought so often about these dogs. Yes, one just had to be put down and a few will spend the rest of their lives in shelters, but so many have been adopted.

But don't stop with this main article, be sure to watch the slideshow at

I wasn't aware that there is a book dealing with this whole thing. I am not sure I have the stomach to read it, will have to enter gently for fear it may be too graphic.

My local paper, the Daily Herald in Chicago, carries a cartoon called The Other Coast drawn my Adrain Raeside.

These two cartoons appeared in November 2011 papers and I thought they said it all.

I love Betty White, and to see her support the enviroment which means the wildness  and its animals, I just cheer.

my wilderness: Betty White says wilderness "is where my soul lives"

She's America's favorite comic actress, but Betty White finds nothing funny about losing our wild places. That's why in celebration of her 90th birthday, Betty wants to share the story of how she fell in love with the wild. Watch the video and get inspired to find your "soul place."

This really got to me.  When my daughter adopted a maltese mix from the pound with only hours to go before being put down, he was sooo scared and "nippy."  Within just a few hours of love and knowing he was safe, he completely calmed down and is an incredible part of their family!!

BTW, tissues required!!

PLEASE, ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!!

What a great video. So glad that poor baby was saved.  Most of the time all they need is love, and they will follow you anywhere!
On a different note, I was interviewed for our local tv station yesterday on the cruelty of animal gas chambers. It airs tonight and I am so excited to get the word out to the public.  Alot of people do not realize that their local shelters are still using gas chambers. Please check with yours to make sure they are using injection euthanasia. There are currently 19 states that have banned them. I would rather they all be "no kill" but until that can be accomplished, every shelter should be getting rid of the barbaric gas chambers!

I have done much reading of recent regarding these gas chambers. PWaston, I know you will do great job with this issue. Put on those fighting gloves and let the world know. Please be sure to let us know how things go.

Love the poster Alice!  Just found out it may not air tonight because they are having trouble contacting any of the gas shelters and getting any information (of course) and they feel they need to give them the opportunity to tell why they still use gas.  They may have to get an open records request, because not many of the gassing shelters are willing to volunteer that information.  So they all know it isn't something people want to know about. One of America's dirty little secrets!
