Thanks for those links Mick - and the fabulous pictures.  I can't believe the violence against falcons this year - it's just horrible.  This says very bad things about our society.

I vehemently agree with you Dot.
5 peregrines shot that I know of. One was Freedom's (AEP Ft Wayne) sister Phoenix in Indiana. Those sisters were two hatched in 1994. Phoenix was shot Dec 22 2010. She lived for 9 days after being shot.

(I am biased here. I don't think any bird or animal should be shot. Or killed with a broom for that matter like Scout. That is why I am grateful for these cams although I understand some people have a concern that a risk to the nest might increase with exposure. RRP's Decorah's cam has opened many people's hearts to animals.

Now I'm on a roll.

Image of Durand, from today as she visited with her mate Matrix. Look at her feather arrangement under her cheek over her neck.

She is beautiful!  Not only her feathers but her eyes.  It makes me sick that they are being shot or broomed or whatever.  I have not heard of any recent incidents in MN but I will pay more attention now.  I just can't believe how cruel people can be.

Whitebear, 2 of the shootings happened in Indiana (both peregrines lost),

The De Mortel nest in the Netherlands, (peregrine S2 in rehab)

San Jose, CA; a mother and her newly fledged daughter. Both are in rehab. Marina, the daughter is with a falconer. Haya the mother is recovering slower than her daughter but is doing well.

Here is a pic of Durand and Matrix bonding, from yesterday. Posted by pearl1 at BCAW. Thanks pearl1.

Thanks so much for the pictures, Mick.  I have seen one of them flying around downtown (I live in Columbus), but not both.  I am going to look more closely as soon as I can spend some time down there.  It is heartening to see another pair bonding and trying to start over.   If only we can keep the crazies away from them!!!!  What kind of people shoot raptors?  I don't get it at all.  I must have a serious deficit somewhere, but I cannot even imagine it.

(Though this is a state where the legislature has just allowed people to take concealed guns into the metro parks.  To defend themselves I guess from crazed soccer or tennis players I guess. . . . . sigh.)

edawes: Here's the link, but no live feed right now. I've been trying to find out when it will be turned on. There were camera problems also.

They are getting the stills working a bit but you have to go to Pauls Falcon page to get it right now and it is only the nest view but there has been someone there this morning, just scroll down to columbus (also you have to refresh maunually) its a pain but its something  Grin

There doesn't seem to be a working link for the Columbus cam. All the links I've tried say "error" I found this recent Blog dated Dec. 27th. I'm going to attempt to call ODNR this week to see if they have any info.
Here's the recent Blog.

March 9th  Durand and unbanded male make appearance in the nest box. There is speculation that this could be the same male from last year.
