Just an early alert but we will be installing a new web cam next week at the Bremer Tower (formerly known as North Central Life) in downtown St. Paul.  The cam is being sponsored by the non-game dept. of Minnesota DNR and will be one of several sponsored by the department for conservation education.  The pair at this site have nested here for several years-the male is 17 year old Sota b/r 8/*E (1994 fledge from the Mayo Clinic)http:// and nine year old Jill b/g 50/B (2002 fledge from Castle Rock, WI).  An interesting note about the male is he is missing two talons and partial toes on both feet, most likely from frostbite.  This doesn't seem to hinder him at all-just watch as the season progresses with all of the prey remains (feathers too) that he brings to the nest box.  When I get the URL address, I will post it here on the forum.

Thanks! 2002 was the first year Castle Rock had falcons, so it is nice to see an alumnus from that year nesting somewhere.

No problem.  There were two chicks hatched by 5/13 am and two more to go.  Working on the specific date for next week for the installation of the camera.  Will try and get a picture up soon.

Thank you!  Grin pefgirl. Do you mean 2 chicks hatched on 5/13 (date)  -or- do you mean 2 chicks hatched by 5:13am (time)?

Two chicks had hatched by 9 am on 5/13. (there were still four eggs on 5/10 4 pm).  I stopped today to discuss the camera installation with the tech. person and there were three chicks that all looked very strong, with alot of feathers in the box and all had full crops.  The camera will be installed tomorrow morning and when I have the URL address from the company, I will be sure to post it.

Sorry but I was in the field since Tuesday afternoon and didn't have access to email or a computer.

The URL address is:  www.justin.tv/mndnr

There are three chicks and one unhatched egg.  The oldest chicks are ~ a week old today.  Banding will take place on June 2nd at 2 pm.  Congrats to Jill and Sota!

Yeah they are.  Then they go through their "ugly" phase from ~ 10-16 days and then they get cute again until fledgling.  Don't get me wrong, I love these guys but they do have an awkward stage.  See if you can also notice the significant increase in feathers in the box from now until fledging.  The male here brings the food back nearly fully feathered.  We think because he is missing two talons on each foot, it is less likely that he will drop it and they do the plucking AND feeding at the box (which is very unusual).  Last fall we pulled out over 10 lbs of prey remains from the box after the brood hatched.

Thanks for posting the video...I thought I would add on another pic from yesterday's visit to the site.  Amazing change in such a short period of time.
