The webcam at the site reveals three eggs laid as of a day or so ago, with the new NE pair of birds retaining possession of the box.  A second box was installed within a few days of the discovery of the new pair, with the hopes that the city will be able to attract and maintain two pair of falcons.

The instructions are pretty clear for viewing either camera.

This site has had more than its share of challenges with falcons and production.  I hope Brad and his crew will welcome their first clutch of 4 this May.

Just an FYI-Brad Loveless from Westar Energy just contacted me this afternoon and two of the eggs have hatched, with one more to go.  Banding will take place June 1 or 2.

The chicks are going to be banded Monday morning.  Any guesses as to the sex?  When I find out, I will let others know as well.

Falcon Watchers -

We have sad news to report. One of our male falcon chicks has died. The chick apparently jumped from the box yesterday between about 8 and 9 p.m. and didn?t survive the 10-story fall. When it was banded on Monday, its condition was good and we?re unsure as to what caused it to jump out of the box. The most dangerous period for peregrines is from hatching until the falcons are a year old. We?ll continue to keep you updated on the remaining male and female chicks. The naming contest will continue as originally designed. Many thanks to those that have already submitted names

Great news to report on the Topeka Falcon Cam. As we all know, Cam2 (inside view) was on it's last leg at the end of the 2011 Season. I'm happy to report that a brand spanking new Cam2 has been installed. It has much better clarity, and it also has sound. The nest has been very busy for the past month with Nemaha and Boreas returning for the 2012 Season.

Brad and I keep in touch regularly to make sure both Cams are working properly for better Falcon viewing. Also, I had several videos that I've already taken for this Season.

I've also been lucky enough to video the actual fledging of all the Falcons in Topeka for the past 3 yrs. If anyone wants to Subscribe to my YouTube site, just let me know, and I'll be more than happy to give you the details.

Many thanks for accepting me into this Group. I'll keep ya'll posted as the 2012 Season progresses.

Nemaha laid her 3rd Egg on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at exactly 10:13am EST. Yup, I caught that on video, too.

Once I figure out how to get a video posted in a Forum, I will.
