The web cam is now active at the first site in MN to produce a wild fledgling falcon in 1987!  This site has been a cornerstone to our recovery in the Midwest and one of the sites where anyone is welcome to watch us band the young falcons in June.

http://thefalconsat33.com/default.htm

no password or user name required.  The pair is an unbanded adult female and a male Younger b/g 04/N.  The pair, if history repeats itself, should be on eggs by next Monday or shortly after.

The pair have 4 eggs for certain as of 4/19 and began incubating on the 16th after the third egg was laid.  Things are looking very promising for the pair and we will hopefully be banding in early June.  Stay tuned for details on the banding (which the public is invited).

Things are still looking good for the pair and hatching should happen over the upcoming weekend (~ May 20-21 or so).  Stay tuned...Things are getting close!

There is at least one chick being brooded under the female this afternoon.  We will hopefully be banding at the site on June 10th at 12:30 pm.  This site is open to the public...hope to see any interested followers there!

At least three chicks have now hatched, would expect the fourth today, if it is going to hatch.

All four eggs have hatched and the young were being fed by "Mom" during a site visit this morning.

We banded the four chicks on Friday -two or each sex.  They should be leaving the box in 3 weeks.  I will post photos soon.

No problem.  I should have the final report on the Midwest Peregrine Society's web page by the end of July/early August, depending on when we finish banding on the North Shore.

Jeff   b/r  *U/*S
Peter  b/r  *U/*U
Ariel  b/r  18/U
Melanie  b/r  19/U

A woman won the opportunity to name the chicks at a fundraiser done by the building.  Her children chose the names.

To everyone-This site often doesn't have the cam up and live until later in March, since eggs don't arrive until mid April or so (history over the past 10 years plus).  The building management team is aware that there are some people interested in just watching for the possibility of birds arriving on territory, especially since there is usually a bird throughout the winter in the area.

Also, just an FYI-I observed quite a territorial battle last Monday at the site, where the injuries were quite severe on the one female.  The other female never came into view again during my 2 hours at the site, so it will be interesting to see who really gains possession of the box this season.  This site has had several fatalities in the past, and it is easy to see why the birds are so interested in the box due to the height and location.

When we have a confirmation as to the ID of the adults, I will be sure to let you know, as well as when the cam goes live.
